TRAINEE LIFE. Everyone knows Big Hit, so they had high expectations for the girls, including Karen, especially since they were their first girl group after Glam and had to redeem the image of Big Hit girl groups. Karen didn't like pretending to be demure and polite, and offended some of her trainers and fellow trainees, and ended up getting punished often, while being laughed at by the other girls. Needless to say, this made Karen contemptful (idk if that's the right word) of her fellow trainees. Only some of them were kind enough to comfort her while or after she did her punishments, or help her learn what she needed to.
Karen did, however, enjoy singing and dancing, and gave her all during practise sessions, hoping to prove she wasn't just another pretty face with a y attitude.
