PERSONALITY:

when you first meet haru, you will notice how much of a bundle of sunshine he is. he's always thinking about the good things in life and know that things will always get better. he's very easy to get along with and loves to talk with people (sometimes he loves talking too much). truly selfless, that is what haru is. all he wants most in life is others happiness and nothing in return. because everyone's happiness is his happiness. haru is full of passion. whether its dancing or singing, he's passionate about life. he's eager to learn, learn, and learn about new things to become passionate about. he hardly lets anything get to him when he gets passionate over something. despite being an only child, haru developed a motherly attitude when comes to people he's close to. nagging and doing the chores, always being there for members when times are tough, the total mom package.

BACKGROUND:

lee haru life wasn't that extraordinary. he was born to a loving couple in jeju and even though they weren't really rich, they loved to spoil their adorable son with all the love they could give him. he was a lovable child, fairly popular in school.

at a young age, haru loved to sing and when his parents caught him singing one day, they decided to sign him up for singing lessons. he joined a local choir as well, just enjoying to sing. everyone loved his angelic vocals as well.

he joined a singing competition and made it to the semi-finals in seoul where an sm agent scouted him after his amazing performance. thinking sm would be a great place for their son to continue his singing, his parents agreed to letting haru join if he was accepted.

and after passing the auditions, haru was accepted.

taeyeon was so sweet to haru when he first came to sm. she heard about a thirteen year old joining the ranks, heard about their singing talents and she wanted to see for herself. she wasn't disappointed. she sort of took the young boy under her wing, helping him try and hit higher registers. she was sad to see him go, but knew that sm wasn't going to give him what he wanted. she sends haru letters once in a while, just to make sure he's taking care of himself. she'll definitely be a proud mother when she sees haru on stage for the first time.

suho is like haru's adoptive dad and chen is his adoptive uncle. first it was suho, or more like joonmyeon, helped practically raise haru when he became a trainee. they both had similar soft voices. some even joked around saying that haru was suho's son. suho definitely spoils haru a lot (like sending expensive gifts on his birthday and christmas). chen came into the picture later, but haru fell in love with his voice and kittish smile. jongdae treated haru just like suho, but with more fun. they will be proud dads when they see haru on stage for the first time.

honestly, haru was scared of minjae at first. first off, minjae is tall af. especially standing near haru, it makes him feel like a legit midget. even though they hardly talk to each other, haru knows the male has had something happen to him (yeah, he knows about the scandal he was in, but that scandal always rubbed him the wrong way) and this problem stemmed from it. the mother inside of haru wants to coddle the boy, but knows that he would have to get through minjin first...after haru's feelings for minjin start appearing, haru's earlier fears of minjae return. he wants to be a good person for minjin and so he's always trying to seem 'manlier' or just more helpful, wanting to treasure minjin in every way...though it seems everything seems wrong in minjae's eyes.

TRAINING BACKGROUND:

after being accepted into a big company like sm was scary for the thirteen year old. i mean, come on. he's only thirteen! despite having excellent vocals, haru's dancing was practically non-existent to begin with. with praise for singing, he was put down for his dancing, but being so young, haru just continued to practice in hopes that he could reach his dreams!

fast forward to 2013, haru got to have a taste of the spotlight. haru was one of the few trainees that debuted as the first batch of sm rookies. it was great, but not for long as haru experienced a ankle injury that needed immediate medical help. despite having a short recovery period, haru's ankle was never the same. it was like all his dancing training went to waste. sm couldn't risk having a sm rookie that had no dancing training whatsoever. so they made the decision to take his name of the roster. haru was devastated...but he didn't let that control him, he let it inspire him to continue to train hard in hopes that he would get that sm rookie status again.

despite not getting that sm rookie status, haru got the opportunity to record an ost with park boram in 2015. it was the beginning of ost journey as he continued to record osts for more dramas. in 2016, sm even let him in on sm station. fans were surprised to see how grown up haru looked! though after recording his last ost, haru realized that something was missing in his life. he wanted to be on a stage, surrounded by group mates and performing for fans...he wanted that. but sm wasn't going to debut a new boy group anytime soon, they had nct after all. and it wasn't like they were going to add haru to nct, not with his bad ankle and all.

so in the middle of 2017, sm and haru came with an agreement. to terminate his contract.

it was actualy a few weeks after his contract termination when he was scouted by a yg representative on the streets. the scouter knew who haru was and was surprised to see the boy roaming the streets. he slipped him a card after learning about his leave from sm, saying that he would be perfect for yg. haru was a bit skeptical. sm had told him the same thing back when he was thirteen.

but haru took the chance. he trained for a whole week by himself for his private audition for yg. the judges saw how much he practiced for this, how much he poured his heart into his performance. his dancing wasn't the best, but he tried so hard and compared to his amazing voice, they knew yg had to have him.

training with yg was a bit scary too, but haru was older and despite yg being a big company as well, he felt more at ease. there was no official yg rookies to be intimidated from. most of his unease was because he was immediately put into a group of trainees. they were wary of haru, because of his sudden appearance. why was he put with them? but soon haru showed them wrong with his angelic voice and his determination to dance. and along with his caring heart, the male trainees dubbed him as the official mama of their group, even despite his young age. his determination and long trainee experience, it wasn't long for the other trainees to start going to him for advice and help in practicing, becoming a leader despite his young age.

and it didn't take much longer for the news of yg debuting a new group, a coed one at that. and haru got the official noticed that he would be one of the trainees debuting with the group, haru knew he deserved it.

around early 2014, lee haru's name was taken off the sm rookie's roster. some people who were fans of haru were taken aback by the action while anti-fans were glad to see him go. haru's ankle injury wasn't released so fans were left to gossip about why he was taken off.

after the release of sm station's song lil something, fans around were left to gather information on just exactly who was lee haru. he never appeared on shows or interviews. all they knew about him was his prior status as a sm rookie and his growing ost track. fans would continue to gossip about haru until his debut with yg.

haru had one of the shortest trainee times out of all the members of empire. so when he appeared in the group of trainees, everyone looked at him like he was interrupting everything.

but soon the empire trainees grew to love haru, a lil mama, all except for the frost siblings.

though the trainees told him that they were always like that, like they were frosted over, their hearts frozen. but haru wasn't going to let that stop him from getting to know them.

the twins intrigued him, but he also knew that whatever it was that made them closed off was really serious, and he wasn't going to prod...just care for them like a mother would.

soft words of encouragement, including them in conversations, haru tried a lot of little things in hopes that they would open up to him...even a lil bit.

and then that day happened, the day he developed feelings for the female twin.

sometimes haru just forgets about his ankle injury and if he practices too much, it hurts and is prone to sprain easily. after one practice, it happens and the person to first notice his pain was little minjin.

she pushed him onto the couch and cared of his ankle gently and quietly. haru saw minjin in another light that day. something that he hasn't every really experienced before.

ever since that day, haru's heart would beat faster whenever their eyes would meet. his palms get sweaty and stutters when he has to talk to her (which he didn't before). but minjin became a steady presence next to him, checking up on him. first with his ankle (and making sure he doesn't overwork himself), but then she began to do other things (like handing him a water bottle whenever he pants to hard after dance practice, etc). those simple actions would make his heart soar.

but haru has never had affections for another before. he's a total novice at what he should do. he knows...he definitely knows he likes minjin. he wants to know more about her.

though there's a part of haru that's afraid. many excuses float through his head (rejection, minjae, etc). hopefully one day he confesses before someone else sweeps minjae off her feet...
