BIRTHNAME:  Ahn Jieun 안지은

NICKNAMES:

     - General Ji :: A reference to her father's career and how she desires to takes after his ironclad composure. It pertains to her excellent leadership and ability to command, as well as her military prowess (elaborated in "Special Talents"). Mnet first gave her this nickname and everyone else, especially her fans, adopted it quickly. It's become her most famous moniker.

    - Sniper Ji :: Jieun is very detail-oriented with an equally keen eye and her need for precision, as well as her knack for it, brought upon this nickname. It is also a reference to her marksman prowess. The other trainees gave her this nickname for her need to have pinpoint precision with every performance.

     - Eomma Ji / Momma Ji :: In contrast to her "General" side, Jieun is surprisingly motherly, which is apparent from her experience with her younger siblings and many of the other trainees at her company. On "Produce," teamwork takes priority in her opinion, and she's always looking out for everyone, especially the younger ones. It's usually the youngsters who call her this.

BIRTHDATE:  October 7th, 1995

BIRTHPLACE:  Seoul, South Korea

HOMETOWN:  Seoul, South Korea

ETHNICITY:  Korean

NATIONALITY:  Korean

LANGUAGES:

- Korean :: Fluent :: Born and raised in Korea all her life. She would hope she reached fluency by now.

Can be seen using it during ranking announcements as part of her little "speech" to communicate to her younger brother.

- Japanese :: Conversational :: She picked up a lot during her time on Produce 48 and pursued to learn so she can communicate with the other trainees better.

- Morse Code :: Intermediate :: She's no expert at all, but she has some knowledge taught by her father and it became one of her hobbies. Jieun likes to tap phrases every now and then.

FACECLAIM:  Nahyun + Sonamoo

BACKUP(S):  Yooa + Oh My Girl, Junghwa + EXID, Bona + WJSN

HEIGHT:  171 cm

WEIGHT:  52 kg

APPEARANCE:

Jieun is quite tall at a height of 171 cm with long limbs toned with hard muscle. She weighs 52 kg of lean muscle and bone, though looks frighteningly thin. Her waist is tiny, about 22 inches, and she has a beauty mark under the corner of her left eye. She has many scars, particularly ones from stretch marks. She isn't naturally thin. In fact, Jieun was a very... wholesome child back in the day, but worked hard to get rid of all the fat in middle and high school. To this day, she has stretch mark scars lining her thighs, calves, stomach, and arms. She does her best to hide them and they are fading overtime, but if you look closely they're very apparent. Jieun also has a scar from military training as well, most prominently etched across the expanse of her back from an especially jagged rock formation after a mountain climbing exercise. Has long black hair that's relatively straight, though some days has a slight wave to it, and may go through some color changes (various shades of brown). Jieun has a traditionally beautiful face with fair skin and piercings on both ears, notably looking most beautiful with a smile. She has a tattoo on the side of her left hand (under her pinky) with the word "Fly" is written in cursive accompanied by tiny birds. On camera, she usually wears a skin patch or a glove to cover it since Koreans are critical of tattoos and especially on women.

STYLE:

If there's one word to describe Jieun's style, it would be immaculate. Everything is perfectly aligned at a set amount of inches and at a certain angle, much like how military uniforms would be worn. Another word would be functional. Jieun prefers pants or shorts over skirts and combat boots over heels. She would never wear anything she couldn't run in. That being said, she can run in heels, but she would also prefer not to risk her ankles either. just casually, Jieun is typically wearing something long-sleeved. Could be a sweater, crop top, or some kind of sport fit turtleneck of some kind. She'd pair it with cargo pants of a variety of pockets, leggings, sweatpants, yoga pants, whatever. On her lonesome, she'll wear shorts, or for sleep, but never out of her room in fear of showing her marks. Jieun has a pair of favorite combat boots she wears out all the time, which are very clean. Loves neutral colors, stripes, camo, and red and blue (flag colors). Doesn't wear makeup if she doesn't have to. She abhors fake nails, as they don't feel very practical at all no matter how pretty they seem.

PERSONALITY:

+ Motherly, Leader-like / Charismatic, Empathetic, Diligent
= Organized, Soft-spoken, Formal
- Private / Withdrawn, Pessimistic, Easily Discouraged, Self-sacrificing, Restless / Anxious, Perfectionist

Jieun is distinctively motherly in every sense of the word, as she doesn't hesitate to take care of the other girls on "Produce" (as it seems likely she's one of the older contestants) in her own quiet way. She provides water to those who need it, fixes their clothes and hair into place when it's messy, gives hugs and comfort to those who need it, and more. She always and habitually checks on everyone's condition (health and mental state) and lends a helping hand whenever and wherever. Her other defining characteristic is her natural leadership, in which she seamlessly takes the reins and knows just what to do in order to progress and create a great performance. Combined with her motherly attributes, Jieun is a highly inspiring figure, and as an empath, her ability to understand others and create a harmonic unity is amplified. She's very diligent, working hard and not wasting a second in order to improve herself. She hates making mistakes or not being good enough, but most of all if she's hindering others. For Jieun, it doesn't matter if she's losing sleep or skip taking breaks, she will keep practicing.

The General is organized, which can be seen as a good thing, being neat and clean. Though, it almost seems obsessive how immaculate she must have her possessions, herself, and even others. She always makes sure to clean the practice room and also makes sure to always keep papers, books, and the ilk in perfect alignment. Another defining trait of hers is that she's rather soft-spoken. Not that she won't raise her voice if she needs to, but she usually speaks in a gentle tone, kind of like Soyou. Jieun is also very formal and always makes sure to bow in a perfect 90 degree angle to everyone, the staff, trainers, etc. She doesn't even speak informally to anyone and is unfailingly polite.

General Ji is most notably a very private person. She's cautious at first with a stone expression as she analyzes new surroundings and people. As a result, she often gives off a more intimidating first impression. She tends to hide and bottle her feelings, and thus never expresses or vocalizes displeasure, keeping things to herself. She doesn't talk about herself very often either, and takes a bit to actually open up about herself. She doesn't even cry in public, which she is often questioned by netizens by her "lack of emotion." Jieun is rather pessimistic. She always thinks of the worse case scenario and tends to think more negatively about things (what's the use of being optimistic when it results in losing your hope?). She's wary and has a "if anything can go wrong, it will go wrong" mindset. Despite her seemingly strong disposition, Jieun is actually quite vulnerable behind her front and tends to get easily discouraged. Negative comments shred her soft heart and self-esteem, leading to a lack of confidence that's evident in her self-sacrificing attitude. She never desired to be center after a certain event and gives up vocal parts and center time to others. Jieun often feels guilt for lacking in comparison to others, putting herself down. As an empath, all of these negative feelings she harbors are also amplified. Thus, it makes sense that Jieun is a very restless and anxious person. She can't sit still and always feels that she needs to do something. She's a worrier who stresses herself out and is always feeling on edge. Though she tries not to let it show, it's one of the only feelings that she struggles to contain. She may end up stressing out everyone else around her even. Especially when it comes to her perfectionist tendencies, Jieun needs every note, angle, position, and movement to be perfect, and doesn't rest until it is. She often overworks herself because of this, and it played a big part of her elimination last season. Though she tries not to overdo it, Jieun will push herself to her very limit to strive for her standard of perfection.

BACKGROUND:
Ahn Jieun was born on October 7th, 1995. Her mother is a music therapist and had cultivated her love of music since she was born. Even more importantly, her father was part of the 707th Special Mission Battalion of the army. The "White Tigers," as they are nicknamed, are an elite force specialized in counter-terrorism operations. As the eldest, and a daughter no less, he made sure that she could thoroughly defend herself as she grew older. Her mother also taught her how to play the piano and the violin. Both of her parents raised her with love, but also with high expectations that naturally contributed to her anxious nature. When she was young, she wasn't always as thin as she is now. As a child, Jieun was very robust. Perhaps she wasn't overweight by any means, but she did stand out from the average. From elementary / primary school, she was teased for being chubby, and it was worse in middle school (where preteens are the nastiest). She built lots of muscle from her physical conditioning, which grew in difficulty overtime as she shown more and more talent in it.

Once she reached high school, her height grew and her figure began to fill out. She even had some basic military training under her father's tutelage, just in case she wished to pursue a career in the military (in which he really would have liked her to be a female operative and continue the legacy that began with his own father). At the time, Jieun didn't have a clear opinion on what she wanted to do in the future, so she settled for going through with both music and military training until she figured it out. Once she was old enough, her father let her try out firearms, in which she had a surprisingly talent for and was an incredibly great shot. She even picked up archery, which is a lot more public-friendly in comparison, and had the similar results. Though with a healthy foundation in her physicality and her face maturing to sharper features, she was street casted for modeling and the sorts, considering her height. Jieun never thought about being in the entertainment industry, ever, but decided to try it out. She'd done a bit of modeling work while she hesitated on entering the military academy, still undecided. With the money she made from her little gigs, she took her little sister Minah shopping for her own keyboard piano. While she was testing some, Minah requested for Jieun to sing "that one song" she really liked, and who could say no to that little munchkin? She sang a little and played, which led to her being scouted by TS Entertainment to be an idol (mostly as the visual member). Jieun was a bit astonished with the offer. Her mother convinced her to go for it. Thus, Jieun became a trainee at TS Entertainment in December of 2013 with ultimate trust that maybe, "mother knows best." After all, she never steered her wrong before... (Continued in Trainee Life)

 LIKES:
   - Cleanliness // A clean place is the only place worth living in. You bet she will sanitize every inch and eliminate any speck of dust she sees in sight. She even sanitizes everyone's electronics for them and folds their clothes. The reason for her cleanliness? She got terribly ill from negligence as a child, but never again! And you know if Jieun's cleaned something when it smells faintly like lemon. She even carries hand sanitizer wherever she goes.
   - Children // They're innocent and cute and her younger siblings are basically her own little kiddos. To be honest, anyone born from 2000 and over are like kids to her. Back in Produce 48, she adored all of her kiddos.
   - Cooking // Another mother-daughter activity that she loves. Jieun's no master chef by any means, though her cooking really does reflect her personality: neat to a fault and full of motherly love.
   - Flowers // And flower language. She loves how a lot can be said in one flower or bouquet. It just seems very beautiful to her.
  - Shaved ice // Patbingsoo! Her absolute guilty pleasure in life, but that's her secret~
   - Yogurt // Her go-to snack and she loves a lot of different flavors, but her favorites are the traditional berry flavors.
   - Aegyo // Not doing it herself, but seeing the kiddos do it.
   - Performing // It gives her a thrill like none other.

   - Music // A given, but another fun fact is her favorite artist is BTS. She adores their music and thinks it's very inspirational. Her favorite songs are "The Truth Untold" and "Epiphany." She likes the former, since it was the first step to her vocal redemption, but loves the latter because of its message promoting self-love, which she really needs.

DISLIKES:
  - Being alone // As someone who's a bit more introverted, it's surprising, but nowadays being alone gives her too much time to think about depressing things...
- Messiness // Kind of self-explanatory at this point
   - Smoking // Why would you ruin your vital organs? Especially for a performer, strong and healthy lungs are important!
    - Revealing clothes // One can be eye-catching without showing skin. Also, she feels very self-conscious about her stretch marks and scars.
   - Crying (herself) // As an empath and seeing others cry, it's very difficult to hold it in. It's especially difficult when the really young ones begin to bawl. All the tears and mess that comes with crying is something Jieun wants to avoid. She also believes she is an ugly crier and no one wants to see that. If she does cry (probably going to be a reaction from the family greeting videos at the end of the seasons), she's very silent about it.
    - Sweating // Though it's just natural and the result of her hard work, it makes her feel unclean and she gets uncomfortable with it. Also, she will reject any skinship if either parties are sweating, because sweaty hugs are disgusting.
   - Awkward silences // She can't be the only one right? With her restlessness, it makes her even more anxious and she justcan'teven
    - Grease // It's just really gross, that oily feeling, which is why she abstains from eating anything too greasy (especially pizza). It's not good for her skin either.

HOBBIES:
    - Firearms/Archery // Mostly the former. Jieun goes to the shooting range whenever she can, making sure her skills haven't rusted. She also took up archery as a substitute and excels. She prefers rifles over handguns. She has an incredible accuracy and precision with her shots. If she didn't get scouted, then Jieun probably would have chosen a career in this field.
    - Playing instruments // The piano and the violin, really. She's quite proficient in both, but definitely has more skill with the violin.
     - Morse Code // She and her father use it a lot with each other. Jieun even wrote some things in her Produce journal (that they give all contestants) in Morse Code for fun.

HABITS:
     - Taps phrases in Morse Code on some kind of surface (like a table) when she's bored. She always makes sure to practice SOS. Tends to use abbreviations (texting, writing, etc) like 73 (for Best Regards, basically a greeting), C (Yes), N (No), PLS (Please), and very rarely: 88 (Love and Kisses).
    - Will absentmindedly twirl, toss, and catch a pencil in one hand when given one to write with and she's thinking what to write
      - Writes very neatly and straight to the point where it aligns perfectly if you compare it to the straight edge of a ruler
     - Straightening her clothes and hair until it's up to her standards of neatness
      - Hums to herself to calm her nerves before doing something (going onstage, filming a show, a photoshoot, etc)

FEARS:
     - Ruining another performance // Never again.
    - High notes // There are high notes, and then there are high notes. You know, like the OMG main vocal kind of high notes. After a popular incident onstage, Jieun developed a trauma with high notes. Though it seemed like she got over it, she never truly did. (Continued in Trainee Life). That said, she isn't afraid of singing. Her vocals are very stable and supported, but her fear blocks her from going past an E5 when she used to sing up to A5.
    - Roaches // Probably the most unclean bug and Jieun thinks they are the most disgusting things ever. And they are likely to survive nuclear fallout, even. What are they, immortal?
   - Graveyards // There's a lot of "zombie apocalypse" material out there and Jieun's consumed enough of it to stay very far from graveyards.
    - Automatonophobia // Fear of ventriloquist's dummies, animatronic creatures, wax statues - anything that falsly represents a sentient being. She hates dolls the most. They look so creepy to her. And mannequins, urgh.

SPECIAL TALENTS:
   - Sharpshooting // In relation to her prowess with firearms and archery. A consistently accurate shot, even while moving. There's a reason why she almost chose a career in it.
    - Violin // She's pretty good at it and played since she was seven, enough to warrant it as one of her "special talents"
     - Acrostic poems // In which you take a word, name, etc and make a poem using the syllables as the start of each line. For example, an acrostic poem using Ahn Jieun. The first line would have to begin with the syllable "Ahn" then the next line "Ji" and lastly "Eun."
    - Can thread a needle easily // It's pretty random, but yeah. It was brought to attention when she fixed up one of the other trainee's clothes.

TRIVIA:

- Jieun got a tattoo after Produce 48 to remind herself to simply "fly." Much like how flight is so natural to birds, or phrases like a fish in water, it's to encourage herself that the stage was meant for her. All she needs to do is trust herself and just "fly."
- Doesn't curse
- Has done various physical conditioning exercises such as mountain climbing, 15km runs, the usual push-ups and sit-ups and the ilk, etc. She knows first-aid as well.
- Can't draw for crap and very embarrassed of this fact
- She has never spoken informally to anyone, ever.
- Has an astonishing amount of stamina due to her consistent physical conditioning over the years. Thus, she's not really out of breath after performances, and her singing is very stable despite dancing. She does sweat easily, though.
- Has very defined "11" line abs
- Jieun is relatively versatile and able to pull of various concepts, as expected from someone from TS. She's old enough to pull off more mature concepts, but still has a very youthful face for more cuter and innocent concepts. She blends surprisingly well in any team. Though, she does have more difficulty with cutesy concepts, mostly because the cringe is real and she's 23 now so it's a little weird...
- On another note, her facial expressions don't really vary much, but usually a few smiles are decent enough. That said, she's not really a "center" kind of gal.
- Actually prone to gaining weight pretty easily, so she has to be extra careful with her diet and make sure to exercise daily. Jealous of girls who can eat anything without weight gain...
- The song she sang that got her scouted was Miss A's "Hush" lol
- Specialty pose is shooting hearts (finger guns) as a reference to her sharpshooting talent and "Sniper Ji" moniker.
- Not too much of a variety personality. An all around sincere person, much like how Monsta X's Shownu was at debut (and then he got really good at variety, but lol not Jieun)

JIEUN SAYS:

- "National producers, I'll pierce your hearts!" w/ finger gun gesture. Her catchphrase made for this season. Also, cue cringing right after.
- "Be careful. Safety first."
- "Let's fly!"
- "Are you alright? We can take a break if we need to."
- "Drink lots of water, okay?"
- "Teamwork is important in any performance, whether it's with your team members, the staff, even the fans... without everyone's efforts, there wouldn't be one at all."
- "Murphy's Law: Anything that can go wrong will go wrong."
- "All we can do is try our best... and that's all we can really ask of anyone."
- "Aww, shh, don't cry..."

Mother :: Han Minju :: 45 :: Past Violinist, now Music Therapist :: Gentle, Kind, Cheerful :: 10/10
It was Jieun's mother who got her into music from a young age and supported her from the very start. Minju had been a fan of idol groups and how they shined onstage, and she believed her daughter had the same ability. Minju is very supportive and both an encouraging and inspiring figure for Jieun. Jieun's role model would have to be her mother, most of all.

Father :: Ahn Jihoon :: 45 :: "White Tiger" Operative :: Calm, Proud, Stubborn :: 8/10
Her father always had an ironclad composure and made for a very intimidating figure, but has a definite soft spot for his children. His father, Jieun's grandfather, was also a high ranking officer, and he followed in his footsteps. Jihoon couldn't help but also want Jieun to follow in his own footsteps, though he knows to allow his daughter to make her own decisions. Still, he persisted in at least teaching her to keep the option open.

Younger Sister :: Ahn Minah :: 9 :: Quiet, Sweet, Shy :: 10/10
This precious little muffin is her little sister with the squishiest little cheeks. Minah is quiet and doesn't speak very much, usually hiding behind her parents or Jieun in unfamiliar situations, but doesn't smile any less. She idolizes her big sister and loves to cling to her. She feels a little sad she's getting too big for her to carry nowadays, as she's growing up. Minah is also a big idol fan and really liked 2NE1. Nowadays, she's a Carat.

Younger Brother :: Ahn Joonhyuk :: 6 :: Expressive, Loveable, Energetic :: 10/10
Her baby, her child basically. Joonie, as he's affectionately nicknamed, has sensorineural hearing loss. The family learned KSL in order to communicate, with Jieun taking the lead. Joonie is very smiley and giggly and is a complete open book with his emotions. He adores Jieun and prefers to be held by her like the baby he is. Even as he's growing older, he still seems to keep his tinier stature, which allows Jieun to hold him easily.

STAGE NAME:  Ahn Jieun 안지은
She has been thinking of getting a stage name, since she shares her name with a few other performers (Song Jieun, Lee Jieun / IU), but she couldn't think of anything. Her real name is hopefully good enough.

PERSONA:  Nation's General
Much like NU'EST's Jonghyun's title of "Nation's Leader" and "Emperor" Minhyun, Jieun is the "Nation's General" in a sense. She's both strategical (delegating parts, positioning, etc) and always seeking to help the other girls. The teams she lead have very solid and stable performances all around.

TRAINEE YEARS:  5 years at TS Entertainment (2014-2019)

TRAINEE LIFE:

Though she was scouted at the end of 2013, she didn't really start until 2014 rolled around. They first tested how she would look on cam and had her take up the MV role in her seniors' newest release. They were very pleased how well it turned out and proceeded to train her, which she took up well thanks to her physical conditioning. Her vocals, most of all, was an unpolished gem. However, because she was still relatively new, she wasn't part of their next girl group's debut lineup, and it would be a while before TS would make another girl group, as they began preparing their next boy group to follow after B.A.P, who they were beginning to have... troubles with. The first Produce 101 season didn't seem worth it, as the chances seemed pretty low, so she couldn't enter that, but the show unexpectedly blew up and so did the resulting group. TS wanted a piece of the pie, especially with their main moneymakers gone, but unfortunately the second season was a male season. Meanwhile, her company seniors were leaving one by one, whether from fulfilling their contract or terminating it. News about Produce 48 came out and TS hurriedly shoved her at it. To make matters worse, the CEO had passed away, and the company was in disarray.

Thus, Ahn Jieun joins Produce 48. Now, TS isn't really small, but they're not that big either, like Cube or Starship (TS is probably on Jellyfish ent level maybe). The biggest names they have are their second-gen gg SECRET and their biggest success B.A.P. (Sonamoo and TRCNG still underrated as hell). Their artists are known for their stable live performances and energy, and Jieun's first evaluation went pretty well, earning a B for her stable vocals and good dancing, but were wishing for a bit more. Her rank was pretty high at first for her visuals and acceptable skills. However, the reevaluation plummeted her to an F when her nerves got the best of her in this competition. The next evaluation she had been selected as leader, having been nominated and voted by her group. Jieun was able to organize the parts efficiently and steer the team. The other girls gave her the main vocal part using a vote after everyone tried it. Though she didn't show it outwardly, Jieun was really worried about it, and ended up practicing so much she had gotten a sore throat from it. During the performance, she had a voice crack. Though she finished strong, she received a lot of hate for it. For being irresponsible, dragging the others down (since the others were also high-ranked), ruining the performance, etc. Her fear of doing high notes began to take root because of this and her rank subsequently lowered.

With the position evaluations coming up next, Jieun was torn. How could she possibly choose vocal after her grave mistake? Her fellow trainees, bless them, encouraged her, giving her enough courage to choose a vocal position. Just because she chose vocals doesn't mean she has to be the main vocal... how wrong she was. Jieun was chosen as leader again... and main vocalist by the other girls. She couldn't understand how they believed in her after her disaster, but with their support she would try for them. Under the scrutiny of everyone during vocal class, however, Jieun crumbled to her nerves and fear, and was thus suggested to not be the main vocal. And yet, they continued to believe in her, and helped her. She had overcome her fear with their support and together, they put on a great performance. Even so, her rank kept dropping until she was eliminated at rank 25. Despite her redeeming performance, the netizens couldn't forget about her voice crack...

It... kind of broke her. She put everything into that vocal performance, but it wasn't good enough. Her fear of high notes came back full circle, and the lack of confidence further reinforced the "block" in her vocals. Her family reassured her, which alleviated some of the burden, but some of these feelings were driven too deep to heal so easily. News of the redemption season had her hesitant. With her disappointing performance in 48, TS wouldn't debut her as a solo artist, and there weren't any other female trainees. It would be wise to join, but her vocals... Jieun knew that this may be her last chance to at least prove herself the performer her family believed her to be.
