Kiryu Kira

birthname. Yoon Kira 윤키라
current name. Kiryu Kira 気流綺羅
nicknames.

"Killer" :: A reference to how her name also coincides with Yagami Light's alias, Kira (or Killer), and how she has two sides to herself as well. Is also a reference to her performance skills that are absolutely killer. Also the fan "killer" because of her onstage and offstage change.
Kirakira :: Meaning "shining" or "glittering" in Japan, it's the nickname her Japanese fans lovingly gave her for how she truly shines onstage.

date of birth. December 13, 1997
birthplace. Kyoto, Japan
hometown. Kyoto, Japan
ethnicity. Korean
languages.

– Japanese :: Native :: Kira actually grew up in Japan for nine years before she moved to South Korea. Since she was raised in Kyoto, her Japanese is in Kyo-kotoba, or Kyoto-ben, which is an elegant and feminine dialect with traditional roots. Her Japanese fans fawn over her accent.
Korean :: Fluent :: Having moved to South Korea, she's been living there ever since, and has gotten an extensive grasp on the language. She has trouble deciphering satoori at times and some youngster slang. If you listen carefully, you can tell her voice is higher pitched when she speaks Korean.
English :: Intermediate High ::  It's the language of business. There was no way that her grandfather wouldn't have her study it. She's had to study it extensively at school and with tutors. Often times, her grandfather would have her sit in business meetings with foreign ambassadors to test her skills, especially after her chosen career path as a public figure. Thus, her skills have remained sharp.
Mandarin (Chinese) :: Conversational (Barely above Novice-High) :: Studied a bit for an event in Beijing. Her boyfriend's hobby is studying languages and he's fluent in Chinese, so he taught her a bit. Also, to prepare being a Chinese language tutor, he practiced with her. It's kind of one of their couple activities at this point.

appearance.
Kira has a cold feline look whenever she's not in idol mode and looks intimidating with a sharp gaze and full lips. Her image completely changes when she smiles and has an innocent eye smile that turns her into a marshmallow and is often compared to Yabuki Nako. Has a very small face and stands at a good height of 168 cm, but worryingly light weight at 47 kg. Her limbs are thin, body toned, but does have fading stretch marks from her past chubby days that she's highly insecure about. She even still has a slight chub to her cheeks she really hates. (Kira on the left, Yabuki Nako on the right)

fashion.
Because of Fleur's "innocent" image, Kira dresses conservatively and femininely. She makes a point to dress in lots of white and has a preference for denim. Although she doesn't prefer skirts or dresses, she wears them to keep with the image, as well as soft psstel colors. However, she really prefers darker colors and more mature articles. Loves long sleeves because she's conscious of her arms and likes heels (mostly boots) because they make her legs look great. Really likes to wear crop tops (usually with long sleeves) during practice and likes to alternate between shorts and sweatpants. Is willing to try lots of different hair colors.

personality.

The number one thing that you can tell from the moment you meet Kira is her passion for the stage. She lives and breathes performance and never half-asses anything, from her precious dance to vocals. She's always working hard at her craft and heaven forbid if she makes a mistake, she's the type to never make it twice. There's a certain shine and twinkle in her eye that takes form whenever she's dancing that it's hard to not feel that it's what she's made for. There's a certain charisma that pulls all eyes on her whenever she's in her element. Kira's highly intelligent and frighteningly perceptive. She has no problem learning choreo in a matter of minutes and amazing at pinpointing the details. Kira's also a great problem solver and very efficient at finding the best possible solutions. She has a scary knack for finding loopholes in people's words and written records. There's not much getting past her. If someone hadn't noticed within the first couple of minutes of meeting her in person, Kira is strong. She has both a strong presence and a strong mental fortitude. She's like a rock to lean on during hard times and surprisingly dependable in that manner. She stands her ground and keeps facing forward. In that aspect, Kira's quite responsible and in regards to performance, makes sure that everyone is on the same page dance-wise (it only takes one to soil the entire performance).
Kira is rather frugal and is surprisingly reluctant to spend money, which is both a blessing and a curse. She's experienced with coupons and rewards. However, she can be a bit too strict with managing her expenses. Often times, she can afford to spend a bit more. Kira is also good at staying cool under pressure and emotional situations, but also gets criticized for being emotionless and unfeeling.
On the other hand, the other thing you can tell from the moment you meet Kira is her aloof nature. She's distant and holds a very cold demeanor off-camera. She's a very difficult person to get close to and tends to intimidate most people, thus preventing such friendships. Even her way of speaking is impersonal, but also too straightforward. She has absolutely no regard for sugarcoating and says things straight as it is, no matter how mean or hurtful it is. It's terribly honest and sometimes embarrassingly vulgar. At least she knows better than to mouth off on camera, where there's a reprieve from her harsher words, and watches around kiddos. When provoked/angered, Kira's defense mechanism is to war with words, and her insults are most hurtful when combined with her perceptive abilities. If provoked, she will always enact some kind of revenge in return, as it is only fair. Though, the return she gives will always be more than she received. It likely has something to do with her pride, which she protects fiercely. Whether it's her dance skills, intelligence, or else, what else does she hold but pride for herself? And when that's attacked, you can guarantee that Kira will squash any skirmishes. It's a bit unfortunate that Kira is rather cynical as well. She's always suspicious of whether or not someone is really genuine in their actions and tends to think on the side that people usually aren't. With a very impersonal mindset, Kira is rational and logical. Her pragmatic nature outweighs any of her emotions, or any others for that matter. Kira's also surprisingly (or maybe not) morbid with a dark sense of humor and tends to gravitate towards things with darker subject matter. It tends to make most people uncomfortable unless they have the same kind of humor, or are the type to just roll with it. Kira is also the type you should never cross, lest you find yourself the subject of her revenge. She's sly and subtle who can play coy and is quite the schemer. Kira's surprisingly a trickster when provoked and does find a sadistic satisfaction in messing with people.

background.
The history of the Yoon family was an honorable one. They were business owners, doctors, lawyers, and all around had big money with the CEO of a large company at the top. Although they weren't golden spoons, they were rather very ornate silver spoons. However, Kira's tale began with her mother, Yoon Minhee, who was infatuated during high school, and ended up getting pregnant with Kira. Teenage pregnancies were obviously quite scandalous, especially in this conservative society and for the illustrious Yoon family. Minhee's so-called friends ostracized and abandoned her, calling her vulgar and insulting names. Neighborhood ahjummas gossiped and it wasn't long until she became the outcast of the town and her family. Even the young man who she believed would stay by her side abandoned her and their child. Her parents practically disowned her after burying the scandal, making sure that it was as if she never even existed, and Minhee didn't know who to turn to. But by a of luck, another black sheep of the family had contacted her. Minhee's aunt, Yoon Kyungri, was also an outcast, and moved to Japan and began a modest fortune there. Kyungri offered Minhee to stay with her in Japan and try to start anew there. With no other options other than to live in shame in Korea, Minhee agreed to venture to another country.
Japan was a fresh start. In Kyungri's quiet Kyoto home, it was a perfect place for Minhee to pull herself together, especially for her child. Kyungri came up with a cover story to invoke sympathy from the natives of how Minhee's "husband" had unfortunately passed away, leaving her with child. The sob story was bought, though Minhee barely left the house. When her child was born, however, it really slapped her back into reality. She couldn't just wallow in self-pity forever. She had a child to care for, to provide for, and she couldn't depend so heavily on Kyungri. Minhee had to start a new future, not just for herself, but for Yoon Kira, who she named after "kirakira" to remind herself that her child will always be the light of her world.
Thus, Yoon Kira was raised in Kyoto, mostly learning Japanese customs and culture. Growing up, she was a precocious kid who mostly took after her aunt's cool and tsundere attitude, to Minhee's amusement. Meanwhile, Minhee took to the hobby she had back in Korea: songwriting. With Kyungri's help, she pursued a growing career as a songwriter. Kira would watch as her mother worked on her music and observed the passion she had in doing something she really loved. Kira, curious if music was really so fun, asked her mother to teach her about music. Much like her mother, Kira took music like a fish in water. One spring day, Kira and her mother were taking a walk when they heard a traditional tune. Dancers in kimono gracefully moved on tatami, seen through open doors as Kira passed by. The girl was so enamored by their dance that she begged her mother to learn, marking the beginning of her interest in dance. Kira began disciplined in traditional dance, then branched out from there due to recommendations. She moved to ballet and contemporary, providing a strong foundation for her future career. Meanwhile with Minhee's career beginning to take off, the young mother had the chance to write for a famous upcoming band, Avarice. Meeting them in person, she ended up falling for the lead singer and guitarist, Kiryu Daiki, who loved her in turn. Although Kira was suspicious of Daiki at first, he had a kind, honest nature and was the type to wear his heart on his sleeve. Most of all, he really loved his mother. Since she never had a father figure anyway, she slowly accepted him as not a step-father, but her real father.
Minhee and Daiki married soon after, changing her name to Kiryu Kira. As she grew, Kira was surrounded by music, influenced by both parents. Her mother taught her how to play piano and her father taught her how to play the guitar and sing. Not only that, but Daiki was better equiped to teach her Japanese as well. It was these years that Kira felt the happiest. However, when she enrolled in public school, things began to change. At school, Kira was often avoided, for a multitude of reasons. She was Korean unlike the rest of them. She was cold and intimidating (moreso observing with an RBF). A lot of other kids were jealous of how smart she was and her cool attitude didn't help, as they felt like she was looking down on them. It didn't really help that Kira did feel pride, felt a bit superior, and like a child, bragged about it. Her classmates hated that and instead of only avoiding her, they fought against her, saying mean things and ruining her stuff. Even the one friend she made had turned against her. The teachers never caught it, or even if by chance they did, they didn't care since she wasn't like the rest of them anyway. Kira didn't say a thing about though, seeing how happy her parents were and didn't want to ruin it.
But of course, something else would always come instead. Kiryu Minhee's success reached back to the Yoon family, as well as her marriage. Minhee's parents demanded that they be introduced to her husband and daughter, but with the fact that they disowned her, Minhee wasn't obligated to follow their orders. Nevertheless, Minhee did miss Korea, and she did want Kira to meet her grandparents, at least once. Daiki hesitantly agreed, making sure that Minhee was truly sold on the decision, and the three of them set off to Korea. The meeting went as expected, with Minhee's parents berating her for marrying a musician of all people and her career choice. Kira could take being insulted or facing mean things, but when her parents are obviously the victims (she knew oppression and this was obviously it)? The nine year old stood her ground against them with the fiercest glare she could give. Though her grandmother was aghast at the blatant disrespect, her grandfather actually commended the child on her courage and fierce nature, that she had a backbone unlike her mother. Out of all the contenders in the family, it seemed that Kira had the most potential to take up the mantle of the next CEO. Having extensive research, the girl's intelligence and cut-the-bull attitude was an unpolished gem. Her grandfather gave them the option of having only Kira remain in Korea and receive a grand education in business while catering to her talent in dance by granting her opportunities and lessons in exchange. Or, they could all go back to Japan, but never be able to pursue a dancing career with a slandered name.
The "choice" was made. Kiryu Kira stayed behind in South Korea while her parents tearfully returned to Japan, every song they made after just for her. There, Kira had to learn Korean, and try to fit in with her origin country, as well as shoulder the material they gave her to learn about the world of business. As promised, she received high-class dance lessons of ballet and contemporary, where even there it was stifling. Her grandfather enrolled her into a private school full of privileged golden spoons. Being from Japan and having an accent, it wasn't long before everything shifted to her being the fascinating "new kid" to being the outcast once again. It was by a of luck that Kira snuck out during the weekend in the guise of night and wandered the streets of Seoul when she was 12. She stumbled upon a dance crew doing the coolest moves she had ever seen. It was high-energy and free with a certain feel that made her want to follow along. This was how Kira got into the art of street dance with hip-hop, popping, and b-boying. After their street performance and in the classic Kira manner, she straightforwardly asked if they could teach her. In an act of rebellion, Kira began to learn "unrefined" street dance. It was this free style that Kira could actually relax for once. Her talent and passion for dance prompted the crew to take her in as the newest member. When she was 14, Kira was found by a JYP scouter during on the her crew's street performances, leading to a new chapter of her life (continued in Trainee Life).

trivia.

Likes
- Performing // Lives and breathes it. Never complains about another performance, or doing a lot of songs.
- Playing piano or guitar // Makes her feel closer to her parents while she's far away.
- Fans // If it weren't for them, she wouldn't be here, or have someone else to perform for. Kira's grateful for the support and praise for her dancing.
- Talking to her family from Japan // Both her parents and her aunt she stays in regular contact with and tends to ask advice from.
- Music // Specifically writing it, though she wished she was as good as her parents are. Kira likes to write lyrics, but doesn't dare to show them to anyone. Feels resentful that she isn't talented at it, but worked hard to get barely decent at it and that's her limit. She's a better choreographer than a songwriter at least.
- Books // A little nerdy, but she does enjoy collecting as much knowledge as she can, whether it's practical, mindless trivia, or a mind-blowing story.
- Riddles, puzzles, etc. // A test of intelligence that she enjoys to partake in to retain her keen mind.
- Cold treats // Ice cream and shaved ice (patbingsoo) are her absolute favorite treats, especially on hot days and since she warms very easily.
- Metallic colors // And shades of red are her favorites. It's cool, sharp, and alluding to danger like her.
Dislikes
- The rest of the family // Kind of self-explanatory. She hates her grandmother the most though, since the elder is always nagging to her about her appearance (always this or that, never enough, blahblahblah).
- School // It was hell for her in both countries. She was glad to have been a trainee to miss some of it, much to her delight at her grandparents' ire. When Fleur does school performances or visits, she gets a bit apprehensive around them.
- Overly cute aegyo // Okay, yeah no. Kira can barely stand it on other people, girls and guys. And if she's asked to do it? Urgh, she doesn't even want to imagine it (but she will have to, since it's her job... bleh)
- Bad or half-assed dancers // What's so hard about dancing that you can't just get it right? Kira really hates to watch performances with mistakes or that half-assed stunt. If you're going to put so little effort, then why the heck did you become a performer anyway? It's really triggering for her, especially during award show season when she's stuck watching other idols' performances.
- Being wrong // Boasting a high IQ and quite the ego, Kira doesn't take lightly to being told that she's wrong. It feels demeaning and makes her feel inferior.
- Lukewarm liquids // It's either hot or cold, none of that weird in the middle and probably aged stuff. Most of all, Kira really hates lukewarm water and finds it absolutely disgusting.
Fears
- Never seeing her parents again // Is it irrational, or could it truly happen? As much as she doesn't want to admit it to anyone, the very thought breaks her heart.
- Having her trust broken // It's pretty difficult to get it in the first place, so having it broken by any means even after all her precautions would be devastating. Breaking her trust by someone she holds dear would possibly break her, and thus she holds others at arms length.
Hobbies
- Learning other groups' choreo // It both amuses her and it's useful for variety shows. She prefers learning boy group choreos, since some of them are an actual challenge for once.
- Making her own choreo // Can come with something in a matter of minutes. Has made some contributions to Fleur's choreo.
- Reading // She's really into the action genre, but her favorites are psychological ones for manga. Other than that, Kira can be seen with different kinds of horror, psychological thrillers, etc. Sometimes she may be reading on business and economics even. Her boyfriend gave her some recommendations, so she's taken to reading some of his favorite novelist's works.
- Studying languages // Though she was forced to learn Korean and English, Kira did like to learn new languages, as it was both challenging and practical. It became a couple activity with her boyfriend, who is highly proficient in languages (even more than she is).
Habits
- As she grew older, she's taken to smirking over smiling, or a short quirk of the lips whenever she's amused. It's rare to see her fully smiling off-cam.
- When waking up, she puts on a hype song, and dances to it to fully wake up (and probably wake up the other members in the process, win-win)
- Writes very carefully and cleanly with very sure of her pencil/pen whether in Korean or Japanese. Tends to have very beautiful and neat handwriting as a result.
- Crosses her arms when delivering a biting remark when she's embarrassed.
- Twirls her wrist when she's feeling a bit more shy than usual.
Other
- Despite her brusque nature, that doesn't mean she can't admire or respect others.
- Her favorite anime/manga are Death Note and Liar Game.
- Can actually get excited during some performances with the right amount of hype and the skills to back it up. Looks up to BTS and adores their song "Spring Day."
- A Carat, because Seventeen's songs are just so good. Admires SVT's Woozi's songwriting. Basically admires SVT in general for their talent and being self-producing idols.
- Pretty okay at cooking, since both her mother and her aunt were absolute terrors in the kitchen.
- Has a great admiration for rappers, since she does struggle with speaking Korean from time to time, so rap in Korean would be a challenge for her.
- The Yoon family has a business in electronics and accessories. CFs that Fleur do for them usually include headphone/earbud commercials or other external accessories like keyboards.
- After becoming a trainee, her grandfather switched her academic focus more inclined to public speaking and the like, to cement her position as an ambassador/spokesmodel/face for their company.
- Knows most of Twice's choreo, since she was their back-up dancer for a long while.
- After her appearance on Produce 48, it gave her a decent fan following, and enabled her for some predebut gigs and shows, which appeased her grandfather.
- She hated school for the people, but learning and academics in general is okay. Despite being forced to study business and economics, Kira doesn't really hate it.
- Can't draw for crap. Desperately tries to hide that fact.
- Great with words, hesitant with actions. Though even her true feelings can be concealed by her words, but she trusts that those who really know her will be able to read into it.
Quotes
- "Yeah, that's smart." (sarcastic)
- "Don't be dumb."
- "Keep It Simple Stupid."
- "Heh, watch and learn."
- "As if." (embarrassed)
- "I'd ask you to keep your wits about you, but it seems you don't have any."
- "Try me."
- "Again." (getting a part wrong, or making a mistake in practice)
- "Don't be ridiculous." (embarrassed)
- "Ha. Ha." (sarcastic)
- "Ugh, with this again." (having to deal with someone's mistake repeatedly, or another similar situation)
- "Watch closely. You better get this right." (teaching others the choreo)
- "Well, at least you're less of a failure than you were before." (^moderate success)
- "... Good enough." (when the others perfect the choreo under her tutelage, it's a pretty high compliment coming from her)
- "I... don't dislike you. I tolerate you to an extent." (basically her way of saying you're her friend)

relationships.

– Mother :: Kiryu (nee Yoon) Minhee (35) / Songwriter / Soft-spoken, Demure, Patient / 10-10
Sometimes it feels like she has an older sister than a mother, but anyone can tell that they truly love each other. Kira doesn't dare to ever disrespect her, not when her mother had done so much and suffered so much for her. Her voice always softens when she speaks with her mother over the phone and for awards, she will always thank her mother first. Whenever asked about what or who she misses the most, she always says her mother. When asked what she would do on breaks (from promos), she says she'd visit her mother.

– Stepfather :: Kiryu Daiki (35) / Musician, Singer-songwriter / Honest, Considerate, Loving / 10-10
Although he isn't her biological father, Daiki's the only father she had. At least he didn't abandon her. As far as Kira knows, he's her real father. He wears his heart on his sleeve and loves to spoil her whenever he can. Although she can be a little brusque towards him at times, they both know they love each other very much. They tend to exchange witty banter over the phone.

– Aunt :: Yoon Kyungri (44) / Hospital Receptionist / Cool, Sarcastic, Abrasive / 8-10
Seeing how cool and independent she is, Kira modeled her behavior after Kyungri's infallible and guarded attitude. Kyungri had helped raise her and always calls her "kiddo" or "brat," though she means so in her own affectionate way. She taught and advised Kira to always stay calm under pressure and holds a lot of sagely advice. Though Kira doesn't call her as often, when she does, they tend to share very sarcastic and witty banter.

– Grandather :: Yoon Hyunwoo (70) / Former CEO of Yoon Enterprise / Stern, Cold, Wise / 5-10
Though he is the reason that Kira is separated from her parents, Hyunwoo does hold a soft spot for his granddaughter, whose strength and intelligence reminds him of his prized son (who is also the current CEO). His favorite daughter was always Minhee, but her actions left him feeling betrayed. He too was a child born from scandalous roots, but against adversity had rose above to his position. Seeing Kira was like a mix of his favorite children and himself. He wanted to witness her growth, wanted her to become the greatest leader that the Yoon family would ever see. Though he acts stern and cold, it's a cover for his soft spot, as he wants Kira to be stronger than even himself. It definitely shows in his actions, though, as he relents to her demands more than a few times. Kira doesn't know this, however, and still views him negatively. The two of them are rather curt and cold when they speak to each other. He gives respect to those with courage and a backbone. As Kira grew older, her efforts to the company were apparent and with her tied down by her idol group and as the official face of Yoon Enterprises, he gave her his word that she would be able to see her family in Japan whenever she wished so as long as she would continue her contributions to the company. Kira agreed.

– Boss :: Sato Erika (25) / CEO of Star Ent / Perfectionist, Sweet / 7.5-10
Erika reminds Kira of her mother back in Japan and her story. Kira has great respect for her, much like she has for her mother. Because of that, Kira feels the closest to her out of all the staff. They speak Japanese to each other one-on-one.

– Mirror Image :: Ahn Yujin (25-26) / Producer of Star Ent / Cold, Loyal / 7-10
It's like looking in a mirror, is what both of them thought. They're both aloof at first, but time and patience will melt their guard. Perhaps it is because of their similar personalities, they seem to understand each other pretty well. Watching him produce tracks reminds her of her father sometimes.

– Acquaintance :: Ahn Hyejin (24) / Idol (Mamamoo) / Down-to-earth, Laidback / 5-10
Kira sees her around the agency every now and then. She behaves polite enough, since Hyejin is her sunbae, and her skills (especially in vocals) are great. They're civil, but with her distant nature they aren't close, and Kira finds no reason to be.

– Her Group :: Fleur (Varied) / Idols / Varied / 7.5-10
A strong friendship makes a strong group, yes? Still, Kira's cautious, and it's highly possible that there will be conflicts between the others and her colder personality. However, it is also highly possible that they can overcome her prickly-ness and be able to decipher what she really means behind her mask. Kira helps the others if they have trouble with the choreo, saying that it's merely for their performance quality, though if she's close with them it can be interpreted as a kind act and she does act a little less strict in her instruction. She does love to mess with them for her own amusement at times. As long as they do nothing to provoke her, she will remain on good terms with them, and they will get closer to breaking down her walls.

trainee life.

Street casted by JYP when she was 14 in 2011, it was a challenge to convince her grandfather. However, Kira argued that becoming an idol- an admired public figure- would be the best course of action for the company, as she could better promote them with her existing skill set and through CFs. With a cousin of hers showing potential as her substitute to be CEO, her grandfather relented. Of course, that was the cover story. Truthfully, Kira believed that becoming an idol and becoming a public figure would provide a way for her family to see her, even in a different country. It was for that reason that Kira endured. Her talent flourished under a professional company, though it was taxing on her energy to study at the same time, so progress was slower than if she focused solely on her training. Unlike most trainees at JYP, Kira was there until 2015, when the selection for Sixteen began. However, her prickly personality and overall image wasn't what JYP was aiming for the final group, with her cold and powerful persona at the time. It was a stab to her pride and ability and seeing how Twice had a huge success with their concept motivated her to branch out and master more innocent and cutesy concepts. Though she tried to participate in the first season of Produce 101, JYP didn't allow her, as one trainee- a popular one at that- was enough. Another chance lost for debut, it was frustrating, and with the wild success of IOI it was even more frustrating and her grandfather's patience was beginning to drop. Throughout the years, she mostly played back-up dancer to Twice and Sunmi (during her time with JYP for Full Moon). Her chance came in the form of Produce 48, where her popularity skyrocketed. She became one of the few trainees to receive an A and her Japanese language skills came handy, getting along with the Japanese trainees the most and lent a helping hand. Despite her skills and killer performances, however, Kira was one of the unlucky few to have little screentime and her Japanese roots had some knetz feel as if she betrayed their country. Her resemblance to the popular Yabuki Nako also had voters confuse the two of them on the website if they had only their face to go by. Though she worked hard, Kira was eliminated, barely failing to make top 20. With many trainees gone from JYP, including Somi, there wasn't a chance that she could debut. Her loss in Produce 48 and the lack of promotion from JYP was infuriating, so she left the company herself in secret around the end of 2018. Lost and sitting on a park bench, Kira called her father, not sure if she had it in her to tell her mother the bad news. She spoke Japanese on the phone and by chance, Erika and Yujin were taking a romantic walk under the moonlight. Erika heard her before she saw her and recognized her from Produce 48, with all the news surrounding her. She offered for Kira to join her company, seeing that having her as a trainee would be highly advantageous with her existing following and acknowledged skills. With an offer already in front of her, Kira decided to accept, knowing that other options weren't available (SM with Red Velvet, YG with Blackpink, Cube with CLC, etc), becoming one of the first trainees in Star Entertainment. Her time in Erika's agency was a lot more lax in comparison to JYP, as was the atmosphere. Starting your own entertainment was a lot different than being a part of one. Often times, Kira would make her own suggestions about how things should be run efficiently when they were getting started, having experience in business and being a part of JYP for seven years with familiarity on the system. A heated discussion with her grandfather also resulted in a hefty investment (and motivation) in Star Entertainment. The family-like atmosphere in Star Entertainment worn down Kira's defenses over time and her leftover resentments from JYP, eventually resulting in a less harsh and more aloof nature towards the other trainees that joined. Though, poke her the wrong way, and there will be trouble.

other activities.

– 2015-2017 :: Back-up dancer for Twice
– June-August 2018 :: Produce 48 Contestant
Received an A-rank for her skills. Had little screentime compared to others, though popular with live audiences due to her vivacious performances much like other trainees from previous seasons (ie. Park Woojin). Finished Rank 21 before the finale.

– September-November 2018 :: Yoon Enterprise CFs
Riding on the popularity she had, they put it to work in CF deals that were received decently well.
– 2019 :: Real Men 300
Curious about the military experience since a cousin of hers is involved in military science and her boyfriend participated. Entered to improve public opinion because of her scandal about her origins. Though her weight was worrying, it did little to deter her and her performance. Grit through the training admirably and positively affected her image. Unsurprisingly shed no tears whatsoever. Received an award of excellence for ranger training. Became an honorary 300 warrior.

scandals.

– August 2018 :: Produce 48 Yoon Kira Raised in Japan :: True
Her skill in the Japanese language was suspiciously fluent and it was released by Mnet that Kira was born and raised in Japan. With Japanese trainees already having negative reception, it spilled over to Kira, who knetz believed her to be a betrayal to their country. They saw her more of a Japanese trainee than a Korean trainee, or rather a Japanese citizen than Korean. A lot of people called her a faker, a fake Korean, and pro-Japanese, even accused her of being a right-winger. All of the negativity cost her the chance to debut through Produce 48, even though it was cleared up and resolved.
– December 2023 :: Pentagon's Hongseok and Fleur's Kira Dating? :: True
The two of them decided to go public, as it's been 4 years after her debut and her significant other was nearing his thirties by then. Public reactions were mixed, though international fans were much more supportive. More details in the love interest section.

Considered as the brainiac of the group (like BTS' RM or B.A.P's Youngjae) and their resident problem solver. She's cool, witty, and always keeps her composure and poise. Offstage, she is overshadowed by the more boisterous members, but she doesn't mind and would rather watch them in amusement.

Yang hongseok

back up. NU'EST JR
personality.

A mutual intellectual with a hobby of reading (favorite novelist is Paulo Coelho), studying languages, and exercising and often referred as the brain of his group. Has an attention to detail like Kira. A responsible and reliable man with a better work ethic. Patient and very considerate. A contrast to his intellectual and manly muscled side is his adorable and clumsy tendencies and his ability to sleep anywhere. Different from Kira, his personality is very bright, sweet, and almost child-like. Surprisingly, he is a changed man from a darker past, and now a mature and wise man. Naturally flirtatious and oblivious to the fact. Has a habit of saying the most heart-fluttering things. Highly affectionate and honest and wears his heart on his sleeve. Though he's an excellent vocalist, his dancing leaves more to be desired. He has definitely improved though, especially under her very strict tutelage.

love story.

Kira's progress with her business classes was rewarded by her grandfather with a business seminar in Beijing in the beginning of 2014, making her take a break from her training. At the time, Hongseok was studying at the University of International Business and Economics. He was chosen along with a few others to observe a seminar of Yoon Enterprise. The seating arrangement had Kira at the same table as them, since they were only observers, and it also introduced the students to someone in the company. She introduced herself politely and coolly, and the both of them noticed each other's Korean names, prompting Hongseok to engage a conversation in Korean. After a few tries at a conversation, he finally got somewhere by asking about her interests, finding a common interest in music. Despite Kira's brusque and aloof attitude, it didn't deter Hongseok at all, and it actually motivated him to get to know her more. Anyone else would irritate Kira, but the friendly man was rather disarming and had to have a respectable intelligence to be at the seminar. She may have enjoyed their conversation and his music and literature recommendations, not that she'd admit that to anyone. At one point, Hongseok mentioned he was interested in singing, to which Kira replied that she was more of a dancer herself to his surprise. Though she refused to showcase her skills, he wasn't afraid to serenade her all of a sudden much to her (flattered) embarrassment, and he was fortunately good... really good. It made her reflect on her own vocals, which she found unsatisfactory in comparison. After the seminar (and noticing the detailed notes he took, good job), he asked if he could see her again, and bluntly she replied she was only here for the seminar. Unfazed, Hongseok told her that he believes that fate will bring them together again, in which Kira merely laughed at and leaved it at "maybe."

They wouldn't meet again until Hongseok's debut with Pentagon two years later around the end of 2016. With Twice's nonstop promotions, Kira often tagged along as a back-up dancer, desperate for the stage when she could. The release of "TT" and Pentagon's debut promotions overlapped in late October, enabling them to cross paths as Hongseok told her two years ago. The two of them bumped into each other in the long hallway of waiting rooms, recognizing one another despite having only seen the other once before. Hongseok reminded her of their last words to each other, proving that he was right with a sweet smile. The two of them converse about each other's recommendations years ago, with Kira begrudgingly admitting that they "weren't so bad." However, with his new idol status, Hongseok was on a stricter schedule than she was. Before they had to separate again, they exchanged numbers, keeping in frequent contact. In the middle of November, he invited her to Pentagon's first mini concert, which she attended "having nothing else to do." Seeing each other again and having exchanged many conversations, Kira was willing to call him a... tentative friend, for now. She met the group backstage after the concert, amused at Hongseok's embarrassed reaction at being teasingly called a couple by his groupmates. Her behavior was cordial enough, but to those perceptive enough she had a certain openness to Hongseok with half-smiles than smirks. Over the course of 2017, they grew closer, and exchanging a new book or song to read/listen to was their thing, but it also started to become... stranger for Kira. Her heart beat against her chest like it would onstage whenever they were together, or she found herself actually smiling at his accidentally flirty words. She didn't know when it began, but they began linking arms whenever they walked together, or how he warmed her hands with his when it's cold. In more crowded areas and streets, he would keep her close with an arm around her shoulders.

And everything came to a screeching halt in the summer with his dating rumors. Kira was taken aback, but most of all, angered and wrought with... jealousy. The things they shared... how could she so naively believe that those moments were genuine? Did he do the same things with that... that wretch? Did they share the same interests in literature? In music? Did they banter in a friendly bout of wits? Did they warm each other's hands? Linked arms as they walked? How could she be so idiotic to have fallen- to have been carried away with such feelings? Kira was disgusted with herself for her weakness. The rational part of her mind screamed at her stupidity, at having trusted this man- but why was she feeling like this? They were not in a relationship. Logically, she shouldn't be feeling this way, feeling betrayed and cheated on like she was his lover. Hah! Kira retreated back into her walls, returned the cold front even cooller than ever. She declined his invitations to meet after that, feeling her ego bruised after a whirlwind of irrational emotions he brought upon her. When his agency denied the rumors and stated that the two were friends, a strange sense of relief washed over her despite the fact her mind whispered it was a fake statement to appease the masses. An inkling, like an itch in her chest, prompted her to step up and directly ask. The next time he wished to meet her, she agreed. In an empty park with autumn closing in and the leaves morphed red and gold, Kira straightforwardly confronted him about the rumors. He was flustered that it was the first thing she said, though answered truthfully that they were just mere acquaintances and he happened to run into her that day. Now, the man was the type to wear his heart on his sleeve. Kira could easily tell if he were lying like telling from left to right. His words were true. Picking up his courage, Hongseok asked if she was jealous in return, which she scoffed and twirled her wrist before crossing her arms with a firm "of course not, dummy." Of course, Hongseok smiled, reading her easily, and they were good again.

By 2018, it was clear to Kira that their... "relationship" wasn't strictly friendship at this point. And yet, despite her rational mind screaming at her to put an end to it for both of their careers, a part of her that she tried to hard to bury pushed her to continue. In the spring, Hongseok curiously asked if she could speak any other languages, to which she honestly admitted her fluency in Japanese. When he asked how and why, Kira decided to place her trust in him, and explained briefly that she was born and raised in Japan and moved to Korea to live with her grandfather at their request. She spoke a few sentences in Japanese at his request, startling him with her accent that was different to his groupmate's but adoring it all the same. In return, he spoke in both Mandarin and English for her. The next time they met in person was the middle of May and they took a walk along Han River at night. With the lights of the city and the stars glittering around them, Hongseok took a leap and confessed his romantic feelings for her. He didn't wish to burden her and pressure her for an immediate answer and said that whenever she was ready, he would be waiting for her answer. Kira, calm on the outside, was taken aback by his bold and honest confession within. It was a definite risk with the careers they were pursuing and yet she felt her resolve crumbling as his earnest eyes kept gazing into hers. At the very end and beginning of June, she found out that he was going to participate in Real Men 300 during the hottest summer in years. Kira didn't expect to already be sending him off to the military, even if only for a while, and she still hadn't decided on her answer. She phoned her mother about the situation and Minhee advised her to pursue what made her happiest, and if others would rather disregard that, then she didn't need to care of it. Minhee told her that love itself would seem to be a very irrational thing, but that doesn't mean it's any less beautiful, coveted, and treasured. She told her that no matter what, she should choose what she would be happiest with no regrets. And Kira knew that if she rejected his confession, it would the be regret of her lifetime. For their last meeting before he departed for the military academy, she gave him an envelope with her handwriteen letter inside with the condition that he would only read it if he had a really tough time. The two of them had to go their separate ways afterwards, Kira to Produce 48 and Hongseok to Real Men 300. After completing the hellish ranger training, Hongseok opened her letter, reading the words she couldn't voice, and receiving a positive reply to his confession as well as rare encouraging and loving words (for her that is, even though it was hidden by a great deal of snark and sarcasm). His filming ended before hers did, however.

After her elimination from Produce 48, her rank was high enough for a decent following and public recognition. Good for her career, bad for being in public. It was much harder now, but not impossible. Near the end of August, Hongseok reached out to her, requesting to meet. For the first time, they convened in his car in complete (or as much as can be) privacy. While he was positively giddy, she was both embarrassed and bashful, but after a while of knowing her, he could read her feelings, and knew that she felt the same as he does despite her abrasive personality. It was then that they made their relationship official and went on a drive before he took her home. Soon after, around the end of September, he informed her of a new show he was to take part in about tutoring young students. To practice for his tutoring license/certification and in general, Hongseok wanted to try and teach her Mandarin, testing out his lessons for his future students. Kira gladly agreed, but in exchange, she would help him with his Japanese language skills. With their teamwork, they devised a finalized lesson plan for his student. It soon became their thing, teaching one another and learning together. Around late November, Kira was unsure about her standing within JYP and spoke to Hongseok over the phone, who encouraged her to follow her gut feeling, since she's usually not wrong. They try to meet each other in person once a month and keep in contact frequently. They're really good at keeping hidden.

Around the beginning of 2020 and after Kira's debut with Fleur, she began promoting Yoon Enterprise's products with CFs once again. She was asked by her grandfather to choose a partner for her CF and Kira chose Hongseok, merely citing to her grandfather facts of his proficiency in languages and acting. Both of their expressions and words were very neutral as her grandfather agreed. Kira and Hongseok shot many CFs, as well as those in different languages (Chinese and Japanese). After the last shoot, her grandfather approached them with knowledge of their relationship, having investigated it after Kira's partner suggestion. He bluntly disapproved for obvious reasons. Instead of Kira answering, however, Hongseok took the leap and daringly opposed him with a passionately cringey, but honest declaration of love for her. Even when her grandfather said he would never give his approval, Hongseok said they didn't need it anyway, and the only approval that mattered was Kira's, and hers alone. As Kira's grandfather stared him down, he thought of how such confidence and attitude was so similar to Kira. Truthfully, he was kind of impressed by the nerve and backbone the young man displayed, staring straight into his eyes unflinching. The devotion to his granddaughter wasn't something to be trifled with either. Much like in a manner of his granddaughter, though, his pride was hurt, and he simply smirked and left without a word, leaving Hongseok confused. Kira huffed at the leaving old man and explained that it was his way of saying "fine." In other words, they had a reluctant seal of approval. Hongseok was overjoyed, even though later on her grandmother thought otherwise.

In 2021, Kira knew, she knew that these feelings only grew, and hadn't faded like many relationships when you're young. She spoke to her mother about him and Minhee excitedly asked to meet the man that held her daughter's heart. Reluctantly, Kira relented and Hongseok agreed with the same exuberance as her mother. They arrived in Kyoto within a quiet neighborhood, different from the bustling cities and bright lights. She traversed familiarly, leading him to her childhood home. Minhee greeted them with warm embraces and Daiki gave a big hug to his daughter. Hongseok was surprised by her parents' warm personalities in contrast to Kira's coldness, though when her aunt Kyungri came in it began to make sense as the older woman dropped some sarcastic marks and mockingly ruffled her niece's hair. In any case, not only did Kira bring Hongseok to meet her family, but also to give the full truth of their circumstance. After knowing each other for years, she was ready to finally open up. Her family adored Hongseok, even her aunt had a soft spot much like she, and the experience brought them so much closer. Later that year, Kira met Hongseok's family with a degree of nervousness that she didn't outwardly show, though he could tell. His family was familiar was her due to his updates about her to them and they did their research watching "Produce 48" and "Real Men 300" as well as any variety shows Fleur participated in. They already knew of her... more spiky qualities, but were pleasantly surprised at her politeness and her efforts to get to know them for Hongseok's sake. Their meeting went well and even with Kira's snarky slip-ups, they similarly brushed it off like Hongseok would (as he did give a few secret tips about reading into her words and actions).

status. Dating (Eventually Married)
ending.

Years after being together, the two of them weren't getting any younger, especially Hongseok. They decided to go public in late 2023, though the reactions were mixed (as Pentagon does have a reputation of being in relationships and the two were over 25). It's no surprise that international fans were more accepting, especially since many had already been shipping them before then. Three years later in 2026, Hongseok sought the approval/permission of her family to marry her. He proposed to Kira in Kyoto on a small bridge under the stars overlooking the nighttime cherry blossoms and a lake reflecting the moon. They married in private with their families in attendance and their members and Fleur's staff. The two took their honeymoon in Beijing, where they met for the first time.

couple's trivia.
- Her abrasiveness is often referred to by Hongseok as Kira's own language, as she tends to say one thing but mean another, or her snark is just a shield for her real feelings. Although it can take most people a longer time to read her cues, it didn't take Hongseok as long to figure it out, which is why he isn't particularly offended by her behavior.
- Hongseok is Kira's number one fanboy. Will lipsync her parts during Fleur's stages at award shows. Knows her parts for her group's choreo. Caught on fancams, which led to international fans shipping them (kind of how Liskook became a thing among shippers). Ship name is Seokira. Their CFs together only fueled the ship further.
- They always end their calls with an "I love you" in a different language.
- Hongseok adores her Kyoto dialect. Kira "secretly" swoons over his sweet, soothing voice in general, though it's not much of a secret to him. He actually recorded an alarm, voice recordings, and a few songs on her phone so she can hear his voice whenever. Her weak point is his English. That damned smooth talker.
- Kira prefers his hairstyle he had for the military. It made him look more handsome, clean-cut, and manly. Huh, maybe she does have a type...
- His performance of "Mommae" by Jay Park with Kino and E'Dawn was gold. Kira isn't shy to tell him that he suits more mature concepts, which ends up both flattering and embarrassing him terribly. Even told him to show off his great body more. He about it and she gave a snarky reply, though he knew she was just embarrassed, and adorably so in his opinion.
- Kira rarely calls him "oppa," only just by his name, but when she does, you can guarantee she will get what she wants.
- Hongseok saved her number with her nickname, "Kirakira" with a heart. Kira merely has his number saved under "Hongseok." One of the members changed it to "Oppa <3" but she didn't bother to change it back when she saw how happy it made him.
- Her members have tried to about him before, but Kira is surprisingly proud of her man, and will take the opportunity to brag about him if they do. In contrast, Hongseok gets cutely flustered.
- Hongseok likes to carry her on his back, or hold her in general. He just really likes skinship. Kira doesn't mind it if they're alone, but does send warning glances if they aren't.
- Kira's had to fend off some girls who hit on her man before backstage (whether they're also idols or else). With her sly nature, she laid it on thick. She would call him "oppa" and confidently initiate skinship in public, directing his attention on her as she pulled him into a hug. Over his shoulder, she would give a fierce death glare. If they didn't get the hint, oho, they would get a real show...
- Likewise, Kira could have guys hitting on her, some even unperturbed by her cold demeanor and not getting the hint. Hongseok swoops in (even though he knows she can handle it, he knows she likes it) with a possessive arm around her and a burst of affection.
- Kira isn't one for aegyo or cutesy acts, but with Hongseok it just comes too easily. She especially likes to see how much it flusters him whenever she pouts or does something cute. And because they're exclusively for him, it makes it even better.
- Overtime, as Hongseok continues to prove his continued love for her, Kira's guard is relinquished and shows warmer, more affectionate sides to her like the little girl she used to be before she was forced to stay in Korea.

comments. So, uh, this was a journey. It wasn't meant to be as dramatic as it was (or nearly as long, wow), but it sorta just happened. Hopefully, that's okay. I wasn't sure if in the cheatsheet when it reads that the girls are allowed to date "openly" it means that their relationships are public at debut, but I think that Kira hiding her relationship and waiting to go public a lot later seems to fit her character better. Well, anyway, hope you like Kira!

scene requests.
