1989-2009 » Calista's parents were unmarried teenagers, and when her mum became pregnant, her father ran away. Her young mother, unable to deal with the responsibility of raising her child alone, left the 3 day old baby at the void deck of her apartment block. Meanwhile, a childless young widow who had just lost her husband to cancer found the baby after hearing her screams and adopted her, naming her Calista meaning "the most beautiful" in Greek. Little Calista had a simple life growing up, but she was content. She had a vibrant personality and easily made friends in school and at the playground. Her growing up years weren't drastic, nothing really good or bad.

2009-2013 : Calista graduated from polytechnic in 2009 and decided to take a gap year before going to university and got a job as an administrative assistant. That year, the H1N1 pandemic struck and she discovered Kpop after watching a parody video of Wonder Girls' "Nobody" rewritten with lyrics relevant to H1N1 prevention. She ended up watching a few Kpop MVs on Youtube and fell in love with 2NE1 for their fierce and unconventional image, and decided to learn the choreography. Though she looked and felt ridiculous at first, she realised she loved dancing and hiphop became her hobby, possibly the first she ever had. The year after, she took part in JYP's sister company, Alpha Entertainment's audition in Singapore and was accepted as an Alpha trainee for the girl group Skarf. However, she was unhappy that their debut was a cute concept, it wasn't something she wanted to do. She hoped that they would do something she'd prefer for their comeback, after all Girls Day started out with cute concepts too but later moved on to y concepts. Calista ended up being disappointed when she was told their concept would be a cute concept, and decided to leave the group at the end of 2012. Calista returned to Singapore and started looking for jobs again, while still doing covers of Kpop songs and doing her own hiphop choreographies.

2014-2016 » Calista had started working as an administrative assistant again. In 2014, she auditioned for YG entertainment with a dance cover of 2NE1's Falling In Love as her audition tape and was accepted and moved back to Korea. Later that year, she was chosen to be part of the lineup for 2NE1's 9 member sister group PinkPunk, to debut at the end of 2014. Unfortunately, Park Bom's drug scandal hit, and obviously debuting a new group at that time would be the worst idea, so the PinkPunk girls were sent to the basement. Three girls decided to leave as they did not want to be associated with YG Entertainment and the drug scandal, leaving PinkPunk with 6 members. YG decided to rename the group Blackpink, thinking that he could divide them into subunits later and 3 girls could be in the "black" subunit and 3 girls could be in the "pink" subunit later. In the middle of 2015, one of the remaining Blackpink trainees dislocated her left leg joint and had to be undergo 6 months of physiotherapy. As YG wanted to debut Blackpink as soon as possible, the girl was cut out of the lineup leaving Calista, Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rose. The other four members were much younger than Calista, and YG decided to cut her out of the lineup too. Doubtful that she could be an idol anymore as she was already 27 which is considered the "expiry date" for most idols, Calista decided to leave YG Entertainment altogether.

2017-2018 » Calista decided that the next best thing would be to teach dance and became an assistant coach at an independent dance school. In April 2018, Hyolyn's single Dally dropped and Calista did a cover of it almost immediately when it was released. She got a lot of attention for it, and even Bighit scouters noticed it and recruited her to become a trainee for their first girl group. As Calista joined the group so late, the concept was already finalised and she was so glad it wasn't a cute concept.
