birthname. Son, jinae.
nicknames.

sunnieit's a play off of her surname & the fact that she loves the color yellow & sunflowers.

jae: a combination of the first part of "ji" and the ending of "nae". Pretty short to the point and she's rarely called this except by the trainees when she's getting frustrated.

Sunnie is the "bright" persona, Jae is the more "serious rapper" one.

appearnce.

Quite frankly, Jinae's appearance mimics that of WJSN's Eunseo. She keeps her hair hanging loose most of the time, around her shoulders and sometimes, she'll throw it up in a messy knot on-top of her head. She stands at 164 cm (5'5") and weighs about 47 kg (if that's important).

Denim, denim and more denim whether in shorts, skirt or skinny jean form, denim is always the go-to choice. A loose fitted t-shirt, slouchy sweater or cardigan always compliments. A simple color pallette of neutrals consisting of cream/off-white, heather grey, pops of yellow or black is what compliments this rapper's bright persona personality. Tennis shoes (converses, vans) completes the #OOTD with a tote bag, a dainty watch or simple jewelry such as stud earrings, a silver ring bang or a necklace.

[POS] Captivating/Charming. sincere. diligent. level-headed. flexible.

Jinae has always been known to be calm, cool and collected and it's those exact words that others would use to describe her if judging from an outside appearance and not knowing a thing about her. Since before she could remember, Jinae had always had peoople drawn to her although she couldn't understand why herself. Her mother always emphasized her un-tapped potential for stardom but she never exaggerated on what kind of "star quality".

Coming from a family that's always had to work their nimble fingers to the bone to make a living for themselves, Jinae knows first-hand what it takes to make it in this industry (or life, period). It is why she's worked so hard and hadn't given up. It is also why she's been able to adjust from a laundromat owner's daughter to trainee status. Practicing day in and out has resulted in Jinae not only becoming well-polished in rapping but in dancing as well, her skills often complimented from higher-ups.

It isn't a surprise that with this magnetic personality of hers, Jinae was able to ensnare quite a few of her captives (judges) at the auditions, hoping that she would sign and begin training. Funny enough, if Jinae had to be completely honest, she never thought she was meant for the idol life but ask her now? That's a different story entirely.

[NEG] BOASTFUL/cocky. IMPATIENT. PERFECTIONIST. IMPULSIVE. STUBBORN. slightly calculating.

With six years poured into an industry that her mother felt she was destined for, Jinae's grown quite tiresome over the entire process. Why is it that it's taking so long for her to debut? She's shown this company over and over again that she's meant to debut so what gives?

In all the years of stressing her body to the point of no appetite or sleep, Jinae would consider herself one of the most adamant trainees around. She wasn't handed a silver spoon on a silver platter—she had to work hard to be in this spot. She knows the skills she's acquired is exactly what a group will need. Someone dynamic, flexible and trained extremely well (perfected) and Jinae's all of these and more.

"Do you believe you have what it takes to be in an idol group, Jinae?"

"Why wouldn't I? The idol life isn't meant for everyone but I know I can take it on, full force."

Is it enough that Jinae's wasted most of her youth perfecting her skills for the world to see, only for her to remain un-debuted and unsuccessful? Isn't it enough pressure that she's on the brink of leaving this industry completely only to watch her family's hard-earned money go down the drain?

Jinae feels like she has every right to debut, so there's no sense in giving up now, right?

Jinae's bewitching charm hadn't always came easy which has resulted in her coming off extremely passionate at times. It is why when she's spoken to that people are instantly enticed by what this young woman has to say especially regarding trainee life. Whereas some would say she's a woman with big dreams, others would consider Jinae a bit egotistic.

But isn't idol life all about manipulation? It's why companies come up with titles and roles for the members of their groups. "Talents" can be worked on and even improved, personality cannot.

bckground. ♥

Jinae was born and raised in one of the lower-class neighbourhoods of Seoul city to the owner of a self-made laundromat and a part-time librarian. Despite having a business that was booming enough to provide a decent sum of income, Jinae's family still struggled to pay bills from time-to-time and even began showing their only child the ropes of the business. If any person was to walk into this family-owned establishment, they were instantly greeted by a twinkled-eyed child greeting them with a toothless grin.

Women always gushed over Jinae and commented on how adorable she was to her mother on a daily. Luckily, that never got to her head but it got to her mother's as she always mentioned wanting to push her daughter into the entertainment world. Quite frankly, Jinae never really saw herself becoming an actress or model so she was relieved that her mother never had the time to take her to auditions for those corny CFs that was offered during her childhood.

With her residency in the not-so-great district of Seoul, Jinae attended school just like any other student. Her student-life was no more extraordinary than others; she made friends, she excelled fairly well in classes and she made sure to stay away from bad influences to avoid trouble. People seemed to like her then and never really had anything negative to say about Jinae, well until she was in her last couple of years of middle-school. That's when things begin to change for her.

One day, her friends brought a flyer to school referring to auditions at a local company. Jinae at first, was put off with the idea of having to show-case skills she wasn't sure she even had in the first place to a room full of strangers. In all honesty, it sounded freaking daunting but as she mulled over it each day and watched her parents' struggle increase, Jinae decided she'd take a chance on it. And she went with a couple of her classmates that was adamant on becoming a trainee just like any aspiring artist. Fortunately for Jinae, auditions went pretty okay and she was in the end offered a contract for her personalty however the same outcome couldn't be said for the other two girls which changed the dynamics of their friendship from then on.

(SHE'S DAHYUN and you can see why she believes she butchered her performance)

Each day passed with Jinae leaving after school to practice at the company across the city, coins being placed in a mason jar to pay for her training fees (courtesy of her star-hungry mother) and losing friendships over an avenue of income that could one day get Jinae's family out of their suffocating one bed-room apartment on the very top floor of a run-down complex. Jinae didn't expect anyone to understand, not really when all she wanted was to make her family proud. News began to spread like wild-fire around the neighborhood (and school) that Son Jinae was a trainee under Big Hit Entertainment. Despite how the people she once called friends turned their backs on her, other people would instantly gravitate towards her, wishing her luck at practice and praising her for her ability to join a company, period.

Even though Jinae wasn't in the top three entertaniment companies in the industry, she still acquired her own small personal following of "fans" (student body, mother's friends) waiting for her debut. Long, drawn out weeks turned into disciplined months and perfected years of training. What Jinae once considered disastrous rapping, OK singing and pretty alright dancing was good enough to become "lead rapper, dancer" now. She had grown into a confident woman, her ambition and drive to compete was like a second skin to her. So why hadn't she debuted yet? And was all these years really a waste of time?

At first what was a pipe dream of her mother's to see her daugther exceed in the entertainment industry was now a dream of hers too. She wanted more than anything to debut, she wanted the people who had been cheering her on to see just how she's turned out. She wanted the people who left her behind and didn't want to be her friend, regret turning their backs on someone who just wanted success. Yet Jinae almost gave it all up, she almost packed her bags and left the dorms if it wasn't for that one phone call from an old friend of hers that transferred out of the company to another, more promising one during their teenage years.

"Jinae-yah, you haven't given up yet right? I'm so close to debuting and I want us to stand on stage together, okay? There's no one more deserving of this moment than you or I."

[HOBBIES]
Sewing, knitting or crocheting (picked it up from her mother whenever they had to sew together torn articles of clothing at the laundromat).
Doodling, as it has become a past-time of Jinae's whenever she has to kill time.
Yoga, in which Jinae got into because of Nari and a couple of other trainees who also hold the same amount resentment towards treadmills as Jinae does.

[TRIVIA/MISCELLANEOUS]
Jinae's IG handle is @sunniejae_
• Jinae has a tiny "fan club" consisting of about twenty people who write positive messages on her IG (it's people she's known her whole life practically) and facebook.
Jinae is one of the memorable trainees due to her ability to adjust to situations and concepts despite her thinking she lacks in -appeal.
Jinae barely has friends aside from Nari and perhaps a few of the other trainees.
Jinae was ranked number four of the most likeable trainees amongst Big Hit's male trainees.
• She doesn't consider herself manipulative in a "bad way" but more so in way that she's guaranteed to turn out successful.

[TRAINEE fRIEND] Jeon, Nari. Trainee.

SUPPORTIVE, KIND & AMBITIOUS.
Nari is the friend who left the company for a different one. She isn't as present in Jinae's life aside from exchanged emails and limited phone calls when the opportunity arises. She's the person who makes Jinae realize what's been working towards despite everything in her fighting to give-up after no results.

[MOTHER] Shin, Ara. Part-Time Librarian, Laundromat Operator.

DETERMINED, EXCITABLE, EAGER.
Ms. Shin is constantly pushing her daughter to the industry and has always thought her child was meant to be popular. She never specified the career but she wanted Jinae to be on display for all to see. Ara's proud of her daughter and her accomplishments although she doesn't always let Jinae know this and keeps herself busy at all times in order not to fret over Jinae's strict training period.

[FATHER] Son, Jiho. Laundromat Operator & owner.

ALOOF, DISCONNECTED, QUIET.
Despite not being mentioned, Jinae's father is present in her life and is married to Shin Ara. However, he never has much to say in what his daughter chooses to do her life (career-wise) and pretty much allows his wife to make those decisions. If anything, Jinae's relationship with her father is rather simple. He's a quiet man who keeps to himself most of the time if he isn't at work. All in all, he's really Jinae's number one fan but he doesn't allow anyone to know it.

what concept does she do well? What concept does she not pull off well?

Girl crush is what Jinae pulls off best however, she's not quite as good at pulling off the -appeal as well as she'd like to.

If she got the chance to call her parents, what would she say? How would she react as soon as she heard their voice(s)?

If Jinae was to phone home and her father were to answer, she'd be a bit taken aback to hear his voice as their relationship is decent. If he was to give her words of encouragement, I can picture Jinae tearing up and rapidly blinking her tears back as she tries to reply without her voice cracking. It isn't often she hears advice from him.

However, if her mother picks up, she'd instantly make a joke about how the washing machine is running and her mother would instantly scold her before asking her about her pending debut date. Once that answer's given and they've caught up on the mundane pleasantries, it'll be one of those rare moments where Jinae's mother may get a bit sentimental and wish her the best.

wHAT ARE HER STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES?

I feel that Jinae's waited so long that her impatience can come off a tad bit angry. Some may perceive her as fame-hungry but that's not the case. So I believe that can be a downfall for her when in actuality, she just feels she deserves to be in a girl group. I wouldn't go as far as to call her ill-tempered but if she consistently keeps messing up on a move, a part, etc, Jinae can become extremely critical to herself despite being seen as confident by most.

I'd say her strengths reside in the fact that she's got an enticing way about her that draws people to her. Her personality's interesting to an extent but she's got a pull to her in which people would want to cheer her on.

comments. Hello! I just took out the lover's section completely. My character doesn't really need a love interest, even after debut (if she gets to). She'll be too focused and excited on her chance to debut, a guy won't even come to mind. LOL. Anyway, I look forward to your story! If you need to fix anything, just let me know.
password. 4ever/Fourever/4eva. I totally at this, gaaaawd.
wishlist.

— Hey, if you want to use my girl for some tension, you can. Other than that, Jinae just wants to debut and kind of mind her business (unless people are getting in her way in the competition). You used Christian Yu though, ugh (in an agonizing way). Jinae hasn't had a boyfriend but she can now though, right? Just kidding. I know he sees them as his babies (the trainees) and she respects him for that.
