on surface level anyone can tell wooseung likes his own company, yet with his quiet, toned-down demeanor comes a strong mind that was cultivated for the past 22 years of brain exercises and self-reflection; but of course, that's just a better way of saying wooseung has lived inside his head for most of his life. he's slow to open up and due to his short stature and humble, poor posture (may be the reason for his current height), wooseung can be easily overlooked which benefitted his introverted side. add the fact that his eyes look (and are actually) deceiving, he's always had a hard time connecting with people. at this point in his life, though, he really doesn't care much; at least what's constant is constant. despite looking like a one-man island and doesn't need anyone, it's a pretty known fact around his actual friends that wooseung is attentive to the slight changes in emotions and moods of the environment (but even if he can determine changes, he doesn't exactly know the emotion due to the lack of experience), is generous with his possessions, playful with his words, and will do anything for his friends in a heartbeat; it's not like he's asked them to be his friend, but at the same time he's hyperaware that they're willingly spending time getting to know him and being with him, and because of this he wants to repay them back with loyalty. he's always thought that he's too much of a coward because once he tries to step out of his comfort zone, he quickly retreats back, but for his close friends maybe he'll greatly consider being a daredevil for once. as a matter of fact, people only say wooseung is "the unpredictable one in the group" because he never really showed much of his personality other than him being quick-witted and a loner. once you do get to know him, his actions are almost too predictable; there's a plant nearby? he'll stare at it with whole adoration, and if you guys are close enough, talk about how beautiful it was for the rest of the day. someone blurts out something borderline erted? he'll rub it in even more and add his own impromptu dirty jokes. wooseung got lost in a crowd? just scream "my loneliness is killing me..." and you'll find him singing "AND I! i must confess, i still believe! STILL BELIEVE!" if you want to be his friend, just make sure to (1) initiate the conversation, (2) never touch him, and (3) never start with small talk. give him plants if he starts to freak out, too; green is known to be a calming color, and for wooseung who's always internally screaming and nonobviously skittish, green is his favorite one.

 

 

 

background before what he calls his great exposure to online fame, wooseung used to spend most of his time rereading their 12-piece encyclopedia bought from a neighborhood garage sale or watching tv; from dooly to gundam to spongebob to pororo to slam dunk, he's watched it all. the only concern his parents had was that wooseung acted too sluggish for a child and cooed him to play more outdoor, physical games like basketball or even simpler ones like tag or tops, just to steer him away from a sedentary lifestyle. the birth of his younger sister made him the happiest man alive in year 2001 since his parents finally diverted their attention. wooseung felt like he had all of the time in the world without no one to judge him, and thus, the start of him geeking out to environmental science. he was always been blessed with the wits and adjusted quite easily to school's demands, making his parents feel more at ease with giving him less attention than his younger sibling.

since wooseung's from a working-class family, they didn't had a desktop computer nor internet until his younger sister started middle school; he never knew about the wide web until he met park cheol, who opened his eyes to a new world; youtube. 

 

lifestyle enrolled in a university the same as cheol's and majoring in geology, wooseung has now moved out of their home and is currently living in a small, cheap dorm a few blocks away from the campus, all by himself. wooseung also helps cheol think of video ideas he effortlessly whips out of the blue (but is actually inspired by all the cartoons he has watched), and occasionally helps his team produce the actual youtube video footage whenever he isn't busy examining rocks or some sort (aka anytime that isn't class hours). wooseung sometimes even puts cheol's youtube career first before his own academic requirements; studying isn't too difficult of a task to him, anyway. he also has scheduled calls to his younger sister to remind her of his two plants (that needed to be left at home due to how little his dorm room's space is), named venus and jupiter, and that they need to be watered. oh, and maybe check up on mom and dad to remind them college hasn't killed him yet so there's no need to worry.

🌱 he bleached his hair and pierced his ears after graduating high school because he "wanted to start a new life". 

🌱 wooseung's first cameo/appearance on cheol's youtube channel was during cheol's first vlog: spend a day with freshman me + meet my friends!—

"hi, i'm wooseung and i'm his friend for four years." 

🌱wooseung's surprisingly good with directions, and used to commute from home to school and vice versa for the first semester of his first year in university. he felt tired dealing with traffic and thinking of alternate routes just to get home early on a daily basis and opted for a dorm instead.

🌱 cheol used to always wonder why wooseung had days where he carries a big, heavy-looking backpack to class. to end his curiosity, cheol asked him, "what are you even carrying, a bunch of rocks?" which made wooseung unload his bag and show cheol, dumbfounded, a bunch of rocks. "dude, i'm a geo major, remember."

🌱because of how light and small wooseung's voice is (and how smaller he looks next to cheol, who is exactly 4cm taller), a few subscribers like to use the ᵗᶦⁿʸ ᵗᵉˣᵗ whenever they quote him. he dislikes it if it gets to be one of the top comments and never views the video's comment section unless someone else asks him to.

🌱 wooseung has an unexplainable love for plants and insists he can communicate with them. he likes to whisper sweet words to the plants he sees that "look like they're taking time to grow."
🌱 cheol once added a caption that says "wooseung begins to enter the spirit realm" when he thought too hard over a question during vlog #5: campus tour / q-and-a with college friends! video. it's now an ongoing joke in the comments section.
🌱 his favorite roadtrip song is vanessa carlton's a thousand miles because it makes him feel warm inside. he also dances to it by popping and locking

🌱 such!!! a!!! heavy!!! sleeper!!! he's the type to sleep anytime, anywhere, but with a condition that he has to wear socks or anything to cover his feet before he sleeps; wooseung's feet get cold easily and it wakes him up.

🌱don't make him drink; he can't finish a bottle of soju because drinking half of it already makes his face, neck, and ears as red as a beet. if he does finish it, he knocks himself out after a whole bottle and a half. alcohol makes him look more wimpy than usual, and be wary of his sudden bursts of aegyo. 

"...and to begin this new video series, i'd first like to formally introduce the friends i've managed to drag along, since you guys will be seeing them for a couple of videos— starting off with someone very familiar!" cheol softly nods at wooseung before switching his language from english to korean.

 

"no! that's not in our itinerary," cheol snorts and grins widely, "but i'm also very excited. since many of our viewers already know you, should i introduce our other friends?"

"sure! you probably should, don't waste your time on me. bye, everyone, see you later!" wooseung nonchalantly waves to the camera before giving out a tired smile.

 

turning the camera back to himself, cheol starts to lower his voice, discreetly making sure wooseung is far enough that he wouldn't hear him, "actually, june's just around the corner, it would be wooseung's birthday in a few days. he thinks i'm going to gift him a potted plant if he joined the trip, but actually, i'm going to give him another surprise!... and i haven't thought of a really cool idea yet. comment your ideas in the secret link i'll put in the description box below and i'll make sure wooseung wouldn't get to watch this episode until his birthday..."
