She also used to have a nostril piercing as well as snakebites, but took those out once she got the chance to debut. She still has the holes, but does not wear jewelry in them.

FASHION STYLE [ ⋆ ] l Areum´s style could be described as comfortable  and sporty.  She likes oversized shirts and jeans or sweatpants and loathes skirts and dresses as well as normal bras. She ofen wears sportsbras or bralettes instead. She always wears jewelry in her ears and likes layers. She also wears a lot of bracelets that are usually big and chunky. TRAINEE BACKGROUND [ ⋆ ] Areum first joined YG Entertainment in 2009 just after her 15th birthday. Until then her life had been a blur of school, writing rap songs in her spare time and quite a bit of modeling. Her modeling was also how she was scouted to YG entertainment. They had seen her modeling from back when she lived in the US and thought she would be a good addition to a new group he was planning on creating. Training at YG was incredibly difficult for Areum as she had always doubted herself and her skills  and this showed throughout training. She was unable to really let go of this doubt and it ended with her eating disorder showing its ugly head again. You see Areum had been diagnosed with anorexia back when she was still living in the US and during this time she recieved help and recovered as much as possible. But throughout training Areum felt powerless and like she was losing control and this caused her anorexia to once again take control of her. At this time Areum was 18 and knew what was happening to her, but she wasn´t willing to quit on her dreams of becoming an idol. However in 2014, at 20 she was forced to leave YG entertainment as she knew that staying there would end with her demise. She sought help and moved back to Jeju and this was exactly what Areum needed. During this time was also when Areum got her tattoos and piercings done by her best friend who at the same time told Areum about a new entertainment company by the name of fantasia. Areum realized that this was her last chance of becoming an idol and she auditioned. She must have impressed the judges as she passed her addition and joined fantasia in September of 2015. Here she trained for 7 months before being told she would be joining the former members of the failed girlgroup Cherry Day as the main rapper and creating a new group called Nova. This excited Areum as she hadn´t thought that her skills were good enough to become the main rapper. She had believed that Yeeun would keep her spot and she herself would be added as a supporting rapper. When Nova added two new members one being a lead-rapper Areum feared for her spot, but was relieved when she learned that she would be keeping her spot as main rapper.
When the news of Nova splitting into two sub-groups surfacede Areum was extremely excited. especially when she learned she would be a part of Luna as Luna had the concept that Areum felt she was most fit for.

// Areum is avery loud and in your face type of person. Sometimes so much so that it can get annoying. Think Jackson from GOT7 type of loud and annoying. She has trouble sitting still and gets bored easily so she always has to be doing something. She´s a ball of energy who never thinks too far ahead before doing something and has a tendency to not think her actions through. This means she can come off as careless. She also has a tendency to change her decisions a lot and this definitely gets annoying as she´ll be like "lets eat this. No wait this. No I want this" Or "Let´s do this. No this. No actually this." Shes´very active and fiddly and once again always has to be doing something otherwise she gets bored. Areum is also a very adventourous and spontaneus person and she doesn´t like planning too far ahead. She takes things as they come and sees what life throws at her. Because of her very in your face and loud personality she canb also be very messy. She leaves clothes everyone in her room instead of putting it away and the same goes for things like plates and cups and the like. She tends to think "Oh I´ll do that later" and then forgets. This is also why she´s terrible at answering texts. She will read a text when she recieves it and once again "Og I´ll respond later" and completely forgets until someone reminds her. At the same time she´s very dedicated and once she puts her mind to something the only thing that can stop her is herself. She has an ability to foocus intently on one thing and tune everything else out, so much so that sometimes she forgets basic things like needing to eat. The same goes if shoe´s doing something she´s really interested in or finds really exciting. She will get so into this thing that she will forget to eat and the like. This ahppens a lot when she´s writing her rap. There´s one thing that always gets Areum in trouble. She´s extremely curious and will ask about anything if it peaks her interest. This sometimes leads her to ask questions that she shouldn´t but it also means she knows a lot about different things that you don´t normally know. She´s basically a walking book of weird facts because of things she´s googled because she was curous. A lot people see her forgetfulness and energitic way of being as very charming, but to others it´s incredibly annoying. Areum is also a very friendly person and she likes talking a lot. She´s extremely talkative and once she gets started it´s almost impossible to stop her again.

BACKGROUND [ ⋆ ] Areum grew up in Tampa Florida with two older siblings. At school she would speak english but at home korean and this was incredibly confusing for Areum but left her with a big knowledge of both languages which turned out to be a good thing. When Areum was 8 she got a younger brother and her parents marriage strated crumbling after this. They got divorced and this took a big toll on Areum. She felt it was partly her fault that her parents didn´t get along and at 9 she developed anorexia. This was also the time when she did the most modeling in order to bring in some money for her mother who now had to support 4 children on her own. Her mother immediately noticed that Areum wasn´t eating or was eating very little, but she was too busy with Areum´s younger brother and work to support them to take care of Areum. It ended up beign Areums older sister who was 18 at the time who took Areum to the doctor after Areum passed out in class. Here their suspicion was confirmed and Areum started therapy, started gaining weight again and got better. In 2008 when Areum was 10 Areums mother decided to move the family back home to Korea so she could get help with taking care of the children. This was hard on Areum as she had good friends in the US and didn´t want to leave them and need to make new friends. She was afraid she would be seen as odd because of her loud personality and her tomboy-ish way of dressing. Shortly after moving to Korea Areum started rapping and writing her own raps as a way of expressing herself. At this point Areums father had found a new woman who had a child from a past relationship. Together Areums father and his new girl had 3 more children, meaning Areum now had 3 siblings, 3 half-siblings and a step-sibling. Areum kept in touch with her father throughout the years.
In 2009 shortly after Areums 15th birthday she was contacted by a talent scout from YG Entertainment who offered Areum a chance to train under them. A year after Areum accepted the training deal her mother found a new boyfriend and had two more kids. This left Areum with 3 siblings, 5 half-siblings and a step-sibling. Training under YG was hard for Areum and she didn´t have much time to do anythjing but train. This left her with little money to spend on anything, but luckily her mother supported Areum and would send her a little money every month so Areum could achieve her dreams. It was also at this time that Areum met her best friend, tattoo artist and piercer Hyeon-Ju.
Sadly Areum had to leave YG Entertainment in 2014, when she was 20 and decided to focus on herself. She contacted Hyeon-Ju and got both tattooed and pierced by her. She took almost a year off and got better. One day, when she was getting her sternum tattoo Heyon-Ju who knew of Areums dreams told her about a new entertainment company called fantasia. Areum recognized that this would most likely be her last chance as she wasn´t getting any younger and she decided to audition and luckily passed. Throughout her training at fantasia she got into a very big arguemtn with her mother and they had a falling out, and haven´t had contact since. The only family member she still has contact with is her oldesr sister who helped her when she was struggling with anorexia the first time.
