▸ 盲女 (literally menaing) The Blind Girl — Since Yiliu is blind, people often refer to her as the blind person or the Blind GIrl. It is mocking, but she doesn't react too much to it since it's true.

ETHNICITY : Han Chinese
LANGUAGES SPOKEN :

▸ Standard Mandarin — Native

▸ Archaic Chinese — Proficient
This is the only language Yiliu stuides, as she believes that it is useful to learn of the past to improve the present.

FACE CLAIM : 小钟佩齐Chia (weibo)
BACK-UP FACE CLAIM : -cchjhuiio (weibo)
HEIGHT & WEIGHT : 170 cm and 49 kg
APPEARANCE :

▸ Yiliu is blind. Although she can manageably have a focused gaze, she tends to wear a blindfold around certain people/outside to show people & strangers that she is so that misunderstandings don't occur. She likes to wear basic makeup such as a bit of rouge on the lips, but after she became blind, she doesn't tend to wear makeup as much anymore as it is difficult to put on.

STYLE :

▸ Yiliu likes to wear soft, gentle colors such as light blue, light green, or white. She likes to wear a few simplistic ornaments in her hair, and she always wears a jade bracelet on her wrist.

PERSONALITY : Yiliu is very smart, but she tends to stray away from expressing her emotions too much. She's very quiet, doesn't talk much, but when she does, her sentences are all well thought out. She likes to think before she speaks a lot. Yiliu is not exactly the stereotype of a 'cold ice princess' sort of character. She's NOT actually super sarcastic and rough if you get to know her (since that's my least favorite stereotype). Simply put, she's just someone who's not exactly easy to get along with. There virtually aren't many people that she trusts (since she has trust issues after her the father of her childhood friend, Zhao Mochen, killed her own father for the sake of power). It's very rare to even get her to get a good impression of anyone.

Because she has trust issues, Yiliu isn't exactly very loyal either. She easily switches sides depending on which is most favorable, and in the beginning, she barely wants to stay with the Wu Clan but has to because it's the only place she can go. However, for the certain important people in her life, (such as her father and future love), she is willing to sacrifice herself to complete their wishes.

Yiliu dislikes the boredom-- she has to have something to do every second. Her mind is always thinking of new things, strategies, and her future. She has a clear image of where she'll be in the future and strives to achive her hopes. She also tends to do whatever is the most productive and beneficial for herself, so she strays away from anything that she doesn't find helpful. Yiliu needs motivation to do what she needs to do.

Strangely enough, Yiliu hates the feeling of being lonely, but at the same time, she likes to close herself off from people, causing it to be hard to make people to get close to her. She needs a lot of time to herself so that she can recollect herself, except if there isn't anyone that she can rely on to talk to when she needs to be heard out, Yiliu would be unhealthily stressed with her own emotions and thoughts.

Because of her blindness, Yiliu can't judge others based on their appearance, which is a good and also bad thing. This lessens her trust for others more, but it also allows her to get to know a person more through their personality and actions rather than outer appearance.

People admire her for being intelligent, a quick thinker, and also for being an excellent problem solver. Most times, she can easily solve any problems that may arise efficiently and originally. However, even though she knows herself that other people may have correct opinions, she's not very good at hearing other people's thoughts and understanding them. She doesn't like to compromise. Some are scared of her for being so insensitive and mysteriously silent, but in reality, Yiliu just doesn't know how to express herself openly. She doesn't have too much healthy relationships, nor has she ever experienced a solid, lasting friendship. To her, close relationships just symbolize vulnerability.

STATS :

▸ Healing: 30/100
▸ Agility: 25/100
▸ Strength: 13/100
▸ (Mental) Stamina: 88/100

POWER/WEAPON : Intelligence.

▸ Yiliu has done training for fighting in the past and was skilled at it, but after her encounter with a disease that left her blind and powerless, Yiliu didn't choose to pursuit in improving her fighting skills since she was back at square one again. Her mindset became the idea that if she practiced fighting again, all her hard work could be easily destroyed if someone were to cut off her arm or leg or if later on, when she was older, she would most likely be unable to fight as well as before, so fighting would be useless.  Wisdom and knowledge on the other hand couldn't be taken away from her unless someone killed her, and so she values learning over fighting.

After becoming blind, Yiliu is no longer able to read, but she can still write from feeling the location of the paper and her brush. She knows how to write the characters by memory. That was why after the disease, she opted for playing music in her sparetime rather than reading.

BACKGROUND : Yiliu grew up in another clan, the Zhao Clan, as the daughter of their clan leader with close relations to the son (赵漠尘 Zhao Mochen) of another clan elder.  In a way, they grew up together. At the clan, she trained with Zhao Mochen and at the same time, worked on learning because studying was always more of her passion than fighting.  Her father was never really around too often-- he liked spending time outside of the clan-- so Mochen's father was practically like her own.

Later, when she was around 16, her father was usurped by the father of Zhao Mochen in order to control all of the power from the clan instead of sharing it,  and so Yiliu was left fatherless and motherless since her mother was never identified. Because of her close relationship with Mochen, she was never killed like her father unlike what the new clan leader wanted. Her father's death ignited hatred inside of Yiliu for all of the Zhao's, including Mochen, twisting her ideals.

This caused Yiliu to choose to distance herself from the clan to "travel the lands" and "study" in solitude without disturbance. When she was 20, during her travels, Yiliu was infected with a disease that left her blind and practically weak and useless after she recovered. Her 内功/武功/fighting skills that she built up throughout the years were destroyed since the diesase ridded them from her, and she had no way to protect herself. She was forced to return to the clan.

A year later, Zhao Mochen confessed that he had feelings for her because of the fact that they grew up together, and Yiliu was utterly disgusted, since he was the son of the person who killed her father. Yiliu would not marry him, but Mochen was slightly obsessive, and she was forced to leave the clan in order to stop Mochen from going after her.

Yiliu still wanted revenge for her father, so after hearing about the Wu Clan from people that she came upon during her travels, she chose to go to the Wu Clan in order to 1) have a place to go and 2) wait for her time to revenge her father/hide from the Zhao Clan.

TRIVIA :

▸ Yiliu is blind, but she isn't completely blind (aka only sees darkness). She can see faint movements of light/blurry shapes of color. Because of that, she can have a semi-focused gaze.
▸ Her hearing/touch has been enhanced more as a result of being blind, while the other senses (smell and taste) are still somewhat normal but just a little bit above human capabilities.
▸ Yiliu likes the rain. She finds it relaxing and a sort of stress reliever. Rain doesn't symbolize sadness and gloominess to her, but rather life. Without rain, without water, there is no chance of life in the world, so in a way, it brings hope to her.
▸ Yiliu's zodiac sign/horoscope is Aquarius, therefore, her personality is mostly based off of that.
▸ She claims that her ultimate dream is to have a small hut in the midst of a bamboo forest or by the lake and live there peacefully for the rest of her life, pursuing her hobbies.
▸ Her favorite season is either betwen Winter or Spring, considering that she likes the calmness of the Winter and the rain during the Spring.
▸ Yiliu knows how to play a bit of the pipa and is talented in the guqin. Besides her studies, music is her second most favored hobby. She has dabbled in dance and other arts, but music is still her utmost strength. Another one of her hobbies is writing poetry.
▸ A bad habit of hers is that Yiliu likes to dig her fingernails into her palms whenever she is angry in order to remind herself to not lash out at people. She also digs her fingernails into her other fingers out of habit when she is thinking heavily or nervous.
▸ She's pretty underweight because the disease cut most of the weight from her and she hasn't gained it back since.
▸ If Yiliu is moving, she uses a walking cane to prevent herself from bumping into anything.
▸She hates children. Children are just so unpredictable that Yiliu can't handle them.
"I am blind, but I am not a fool. And that is what sets me different from others."

RELATIONSHIPS :

▸ past friend/current nemesis— 赵漠尘 Zhao Mochen (21) / son of Zhao Clan's clan leader (clan successor?) / posessive + obsessive, skilled fighter, straightforward and blunt / 2 (?)

Mochen's father killed Yiliu's father in order to hold all of the power in the clan, and so Yiliu holds a desire to revenge her father, and thus holds a strong disliking for Zhao Mochen. (if the father turned out to be like this, then the son must not be too different). Mochen's personality is also too different from hers, so although they can get along as friends in the past, they would never make a good couple. Currently, Mochen is still going after Yiliu because he "loves" her (or basically, an obsessive desire to the point where it's unhealthy) and so he holds her very dear, but she doesn't particularly like him or want to marry him.

LOVE INTEREST : 黄子韬 Huang Zitao
BACK UP LOVE INTEREST : n/a
NICKNAMES :

▸ Zitao doesn't like nicknames very much. He prefers it when people call him by his real name.

DATE OF BIRTH : May 2nd (25)
FACECLAIM : Huang Zitao

PERSONALITY :

▸ Zitao's zodiac sign/horoscope is Taurus which influences his personality. He likes people to see him as a very responsible and practical person that others can rely on, but on the inside, he's semi-stubborn and sticks to his ideals, very similar to Yiliu. Sometimes, he can be extremely playful and childish for fun though. He doesn't believe in anything he can't touch/personally see, so he's very realistic, doesn't dream much, and has commitment to something, be it a relationship or a goal, once he's started it.

Zitao doesn't appreciate change. He's very loyal, and he wants relationships to stay the way they are once committed to them. That's why he tends to avoid people who seem to change easily. He seems simple and brash, but Zitao doesn't believe in love at first sight or any relationship that instantly came to be. All relationships that he's experienced take time as he slowly gets to know the other person and build trust with them.

Because ZItao's a very realistic person instead of an idealist, he doesn't like anything artificial, so people who are honest with him gain his trust and loyalty. Once he grows attached to them, he relies on that person for his sense of security. In a relationship, Zitao's likes intimacy like hugs or kisses, but if his partner doesn't feel comfortable with it, he knows to keep his distance until the right time.

It's hard to change his perspective on things, but Zitao listens well to when people talk. He's almost a talker as much as he is a listener, nevertheless. It's easy to get along with him, in comparison to Yiliu.

In short, Zitao seems like a really tough person, but on the inside, he's practically a cinnamon roll.

BACKGROUND :

▸ Zitao grew up in a village as the son of two common farmers. His life was pretty typical, with two sisters and a newborn baby brother, and the only problems that his family faced was the question of how to feed their children. The family managed to keep a balance between paying taxes and getting their crops sold however, so they never struck absolute poverty.

Yet on a day of summer drought, Zitao, age six, knocked over a candle during the night. Because it was so dry, the room he was in easily caught on fire and the who house was burnt down. The fire traveled on and destroyed half of the village he lived in. By the time that the villagers managed to put out the fire, it was already too late, and all of ZItao's family were killed from inhaling too much smoke. Their bodies were all recovered under the rubble except for Zitao's baby brother, whose body was never found, and the villagers theorized that because his baby brother's body was so small, it must've been completely burnt down to ashes.

From this tragedy, the villagers all claimed that Zitao was cursed for such a terrible thing to happen, and to prevent his misfortune from spreading, they chased him out of the village. At only six years of age, Zitao had already reached the lowest point of his life.

Without anything to eat or drink, ZItao was forced to scavenge in the forest, and when trying to drink water from a nearby river, he accidently fell into it and was carried away by the waters. He half-expected himself to drown but discovered that instead of drowning, he could swim, despite the fact that he never had the oppourtunity to swim back at his old home. This uncovers Zitao's inner instinct that allowed him to be amiable with water.

From there on, Zitao was picked up by a helpful middle-aged man who he always called "长辈/Elder". The man gave him shelter, food, and safety, and later on taught Zitao martial arts as well as any other skills ZItao needed to learn. The origins of the man is unclear to this day, but Zitao believes that he must be someone from one of the greater clans to have so much knowledge.  Zitao also developed his skill with controlling water during this time. This didn't last, however, and when Zitao was nineteen, the man disappeared and never came back.

Without the man to guide him, ZItao decided to go discovering the world on his own, and he found the Wu Clan. Wanting a place of belonging, ZItao decided to join and stay there, going on missions and practicing his skills.

To this day, Zitao believes that his family's death was all his fault, and that if he learned about his ability to control water easily earlier, he could've saved his family by putting out the fire with the water. That's his motivation behind training, to keep prevent things like this from happening to his loved ones in the future. He doesn't let the incident twist his mind like how Yiliu's personality was twisted by her father being murdered, and instead uses it as something to improve himself in the future

His thinking also puts him in a paradox. He's very practical and thinks realistically, so he knows that his baby brother had to die in the fire. There would be no chance that he didn't. Yet at the same time, he doesn't believe anything that he didn't see with his own eyes, and since he didn't see his brother's dead body being found he doesn't believe that his brother is truly dead.

TRIVIA :

▸ Zitao's control over the water is s not an ability to generate water over nothing. He has to have some sort of basis with the water. (e.g. if there's a stream nearby, Zitao can use the water to do things like irritating the enemy by dousing them with water ((which sounds really stupid but it seems like something he would do because he's kinda childish.)) or filling up the enemy's lungs with water ((morbid yes but useful)). if there's clouds above too, he can make it rain by gather the clouds together into a denser, smaller area.)
▸ Zitao likes to help people a lot, such as delivering messages or moving blocks of wood around for starting a fire and etc. He sees these common kind actions as a way to redeem himself from his family's death.
▸Typically, Zitao prefers hand-to-hand combat as his control over water can be easily used to put him in an advantage. He can manage with a sword/spear/dagger too, and he makes sure to keep a small blade on him at all times in case situations turn bad. However, his skill with a bow/arrow is just... no. His aim doesn't work.
▸ Zitao is often teased by the females in the clan because of the fact that he can maneagably cook, which is considered strange for a man since he's not supposed to learn these things. The only reason behind his cooking skill is that during his days learning under his elder, he had to cook his own food and through multiple bad burns, trial and error, he knows how to make a few good dishes to satisfy himself.
▸ He has a soft spot for bears, even though most times, bears only want to kill him instead of making friends.
▸ He likes children.
"Why let it hold me back? The past is the past. What has happened had happened, and it cannot be changed."

LOVE STORY :

▸ Zitao first heard of Yiliu as the new person who came into the clan blind. This was obviously a surprise for him, and he wonders what sort of a person she was to get someone like her qualified to be in the clan. Later on, there was a public demonstration in the clan as Yiliu performed the Seven Steps Verse (originally, it was a famous scene in Chinese history during the Three Kingdoms where Cao Zhi had to produce a poem within seven strides for his brother, Cao Pi, to deem him innocent) under a challenger who doubted her intelligence. Zitao is one of the watchers in the crowd, and he sees how intelligent Yiliu is and is amazed.
▸ Yiliu, on the other hand, doesn't even know who this Huang Zitao is until a day where she hears of a mission that ZItao and a crew of people were going on to deal with a problem among the civilians. Finding out about the details of the mision, Yiliu tells Zitao that the people that Zitao were looking for were wrong, and that xxx (insert logical thinking here). Zitao listens and invites her to go on the mission with him/his group. She agrees out of interest in how the trip will end up. During this trip, Zitao acts as her eyes and Yiliu proves herself to not be a burdan to the group and that her advice actually helps.
▸ After the trip, Zitao is curious about Yiliu and her origins, which she wouldn't tell anyone. People think that he's crazy for being interested in such a silent and background person like her, but Zitao genuinely wants to be her friend since he finds her so out of the ordinary. (insert relationship development)

RELATIONSHIP STATUS :  I think that they're practically strangers in the beginning of the story since Yiliu doesn't come into the clan until the beginning. I would like that their relationship goes on very slow throughout the story, but at the end of the love story description I have above, they're currently at a place where they both know each other's boundaries and respect them. Zitao listens well to Yiliu. He's sort of her second pair of eyes. On the other hand, Yiliu is someone that ZItao can trust in talking to his problems too. He enjoys being around her. Their relationship is not very the most physical. Companionship takes place before love.

Although their personalities are very different, Yiliu likes Zitao because of his loyalty and gradually grows to trust his sincerity as real. He lets her have her privacy and isn't too overbearing or cares too much about every small thing that she does, but in the end, he still does care for her. Zitao likes Yiliu simply because he likes smart girls LOL. He likes girls who can think for themselves, out of the ordinary, and he actually appreciates all of Yiliu's strengths and flaws because they make her into the person she is now. He finds it interesting that Yiliu is strong in her own way and that she proves that strength doesn't necessarily come from the ability to fight/how physcially strong you are.

LAST WORDS : If anyone would like to collab on some sort of relationship between their character and Yiliu, please contact me. :D I don't think that Yiliu is the social butterfly type who reaches out to a lot of people/tries to mantain too much relationships, so I guess you'll have to have a really good reason why your character's personality suits hers. ;;

PASSWORD : 荣耀 from 大唐荣誉

SCENE REQUESTS :

▸ Kissing in the rain?? oml this sounds so embarassing  but kissing in the rain is  sort of a romantic must and haha I've always wanted to write a scene where two main characters kissed in the rain but I never got to it. ;;A;;
▸ Also totally random but I think it'll make a really romantic scene if it's during dry season, and Yiliu misses the rain, and Zitao uses his ability involving water to make it rain for her. ack my heart hurts. TT
▸ lots of betrayals/twists would be interesting. lol
