About Chen's 'Racist' Remark

If you have a problem with anything I say, feel free to either un-friend me or block me. Don't care, just don't want drama over my opinion.

Alright, so if those of you who don't know what happened, basically CBX was doing a V-Live and Chen supposedly said something that was 'racist'. Now I say supposedly because for some strange reason, international fans can't figure out what he's saying.

I dunno, maybe because they're not Korean?

Everyone (specifically on Twitter) is running around saying they know exactly what he's saying, the culture behind it, blah blah blah. Excuse me, are you Korean or fluent in the language? Have you lived in Korea? Chances are, probably not.

I said this in my feed earlier, but the fact that people are saying "all Koreans are racist" is pissing me off to the point that I've returned to this topic on my blog. Generalizing a entire race for being racist is pretty much going against their own words. How can you call Chen racist and then be racist yourself? I don't understand the logic behind what these people are saying.

I get it. Chen said something controversial, and I'm not saying he didn't. But comparing yourself to a cartoon character (or a movie character, whatever) is now racist? So if I say I look like a Simpson, I'm 'racist'?

If you're asking SM for an apology, I highly doubt you'll get a genuine one. SM is a Korean company. And since all of you have decided that we're all racist, then you definitely won't get one.

We're conservative. I was raised in both Korean and America, so I know what both worlds are like. Sorry, but we can't correct what generations after generations have said, or have done. It's not Jongdae's fault for saying something supposedly 'racist'. In Korea nobody really cares, to be honest. Why? Because they've heard hundreds of other idols say this, hundreds of their friends and family say this kind of stuff.

If you want to justify that he messed up, don't ing translate it yourself if you're not Korean. Don't analyze what he said if you don't understand the culture in Korea. Korea is not America or another country. You blowing up at Jongdae is not going to change anything.

This is so blown out of proportion. Chen is an angel, all EXO-Ls know this, and he would never say it with the intention to hurt anybody. Since when has Chen had a scandal?

We're talking  about the person who told saesangs to hurt him instead of the members. HE EVEN WEARS NO RACISM SHIRTS AND HATS, LIKE WTF ARE Y'ALL SAYING?

Also, if you're in another fandom, get the out of here. You always tell us to only pay attention to what happens to you, so do the same for us. (ARMY I'm looking at you.) Antis are so quick to attack Chen for this without even thinking about it. "Not your fandom, not your problem."

Alright, I'm done.

The whole controversy pissed me off.
I'm not defending Chen, I understand how what he said might offend some people but I doubt he meant it that way, he just compared himself to a cartoon character for God's sake, seriously we can't compare ourselves to cartoon characters anymore? I don't think he meant any ill with that comment. Not at all.
And most people addressed this issue in the wrong way. Instead of calling him a "racist" which he's not they should have explained to him calmly why they think what he said is racist.
Now, i'm 100% sure he had no ill intentions when he made that comment. And calling him "racist" for comparing himself to a cartoon character that he happened to look like at the moment is uncalled for.
Seriously, okay I get that the character is controversial in itself but do you honestly think he was thinking that far when he compared himself to it? Hell no. Stop blowing things out of proportion.
And as I saw from other social medias some of the people who are attacking Chen and making those ridiculous conclusions about Koreans are not even Kpop fans, they just happened to chance on the thread and were like, "OMG, yeah he's racist all right, all koreans are" and im like WTF. You know nothing and are just blindly believing the one who posted this thread who already is hating on Chen not for his comment per say but solely for the reason of hating on a EXO member.
Again, I'm not defending Chen. I know what he said. I know how it could have hurt other people. But he did not mean it that way. And people ought to educate him instead of hating on him and calling him a racist and including all koreans while doing so.
Like . That's the most childish thing ever.
Sorry for the rant....

Oh, people are so quick with the racism card. I kinda let it slide nowadays. How can I take it seriously when I could literally sit and mind my own business and still be called racist? (I know this is totally not an ideal opinion to have and I should change it but I just cant help myself. Especially not the Internet...) Chen is a wonderful man, I hadn’t heard of this before but I doubt he’s got any bad bone in his body. People are strange creatures.

I think you're preaching to the wrong crowd love. People aren't on here ing. That's other mediums where people consider Kpop idols entertainment and 'property' of the fans and nothing else. It's really ty. What "DID" chen say? I didn't even know ? I don't keep up with kpop drama. I could never say you're racist. Love you <3
