ah, daniel. this ball of sunshine went through a lot – mostly racism back in his days of high school but nonetheless, this boy is very optimistic. he never really feels burdened by life and his problems. after all, every cloud has its silver lining, right? there's a rainbow after the storm. so, he tries to keep himself motivated by his positive mindset. this boy is born generous – he believes that what you give, you'll get twice of that. therefore, he always tries to do charity works and donate to the needy. he also likes helping his friends when they're caught in a sticky situation too! he would even go out of his way to help them. this boy is very exuberant – a chatterbox living his best life. he's just so full of happiness that you'd wonder what could go wrong with him. he would talk about the weather, your job and what's happening in aunt lee's grocery shop. he's also very friendly too! he's good with children, an adult pleaser and is someone fun to hang around with – adaptable when it comes to socializing. the only thing off his limits are crime-related activities and smoking. apart from that, he's cool with everything. he's also very hardworking too! there's not a lot of things that sparks this boy's interest and this chicken nugget loses his interest easily but if he really really really wants something, he'll go all out for it. he's also very open-minded – he was a minority and he knows the feeling of being a minority. therefore, he tries his best to be as open as he could and be as accepting as he could. he's also very kind too. he's the type to bring others some mcdonald's, just to know that some are dietting. the type to buy milk tea for everyone, just to know that some are lactose intolerant.

well – being born rich with a maid makes you pretty much dependent on someone. chores is a choice, not a duty. therefore, leaving alone does freak him out. he used to have xuanyi to do him his chores while he pay her (the pay is really good, xuanyi can't never say no). now, he really depends on his new-made friends to help him in pretty much surviving in this cruel earth. he's also very sensitive – this boy is prone to crying. he tries not to cry though – has a love-hate relationship with tearjerkers. please don't scream at him. he'll cry. oh, and this boy is also very gullible. he's naturally gullible – but being in a new country and a new surrounding makes him more gullible than he originally is. he's the type to ask girls to bring him to their parents because his friends said korean girls like serious boys who are direct. he also is an avid attention seeker – tinkerbell loses in this game of attention seeking with daniel. daniel likes it when people give him attention – and when he isn't given one, he'll search for a way for others to give him attention. that includes buying a new expensive thing, trying to cook (which ends up burns the house down) and faking a sickness. he gets jealous easily to those people who gets a lot of attention. he's also very impulsive – he does his choices in a split second. he do things before he even give it a minute to think of the consequences. he just... doesn't think. he's also very stubborn too – he's used to having things his way and having others defending their opinion that goes against his irks him. even if he fails – he wanted it to be his fault (plus, he has the money to back him up. so, he'll never fail pft). he's also very competitive – he wants to be the best in a lot of things and couldn't stand losing. he's also nonchalant – optimism is great but this boy doesn't think about anything. he has no place to live? oh well~ his credit card is maxed out? oh well~ all his life, his parents never let him experience hardships which made him really think that there is no problem that can't be fixed. therefore, he shouldn't care. at all.

BACKGROUND —

daniel was born in a wealthy family – his father is a doctor and his mother is a fashion designer. his father is a heart specialist and his mother designs wedding dresses and have dressed a lot of celebrities and business moguls. therefore, it's not shocking to see that he lived a lavish lifestyle. yes, he's from san francisco. his father is also from san francisco and his mother is from florida. they didn't come fresh off the boat since he basically lived there his whole life.

daniel lived a rather normal childhood – he didn't face harsh racism; of course, there were times where he felt like an outcast but he knew it wasn't intentional. nonetheless, it was still cool. he had a few playmates during his kindergarten days, he got some friends from high school. everything is cool. there's nothing that speaks 'wow, sounds life-changing' in his days as a teenager. in fact, he still feels like a teenager.

he came to south korea to study – well, he is interested in technology. therefore, the boy took a computer science degree. he doesn't exactly know where to go afterwards career-wise but hey, at least, he knows what he likes. anyways, why south korea? well, he's pretty much in love with twice (make it girls' generation if someone uses a twice faceclaim). he moves all the way from san francisco to korea because of kpop – yes, a fanboy. in fact, the first thing he does when he came to south korea is actually going to a twice fanmeeting. he's just that fanboy, in love with 'his' girls.

before moving into the share house, daniel lives with his cousin, yixuan. yixuan was paid handsomely to take care of daniel – pretty much become daniel's maid... in yixuan's house. yixuan, who also studied in korea, is a student who desperately needs money. she agreed to take care of him reluctantly – but grows fond of the annoying little boy. well, yixuan completed her degree and now, she has a boyfriend – who wants to live with yixuan. her boyfriend isn't really in good terms with daniel and he obviously doesn't want to be a thirdwheel. therefore, daniel decided to move out.

the place is recommended by sooyoung – a dear friend of yixuan who is also desperately in need of money and would take care of daniel. daniel agreed to move into the place – plus, the rent is much more cheaper than the rent he has to pay for the house yixuan lives in (which is very expensive, by the way). money is not a problem but hey – he can go to more fanmeets with this extra money.

at first – it feels really awkward because he does have the room to himself. therefore, socializing isn't really a necessity; but he wants to have friends! and the video games looks really nice, playing alone would be awkward. he feels like an outcast at first – something he's used to but the more he tries to socialize, the more he feels that these people aren't that bad at all.

LIFESTYLE —

during his weekdays, daniel usually attends his classes from 11am until around 4pm. he has classes on mondays till thursdays. afterwards, he would hang out (watch movies, eat at cute cafes) until around 7pm. afterwards, he'll come home and have dinner (that sooyoung sends or if someone's kind enough to cook him one). afterwards, he play video games on the ps4 or wii or watch movies or sometthing. he's a sore loser.

during his weekends though – daniel usually would wake up for breakfast and go for a quick workout. he'll then play the wii or the ps4 or go for a swim or just sleep. he watches his dramas on his phone too – or the tv if there's no one watching. he also likes to go out! and night-time!!! night-time is the bomb. he likes going out to night clubs and go home pretty much drunk. he's a light drinker. and please cure his hangover.

there are exceptions though! if there's a twice concert; or a fanmeet nearby, he'll even skip his classes for twice. he just really really loves twice.

honestly speaking, doyeon seems to be very close to this stupid guy. daniel doesn't know what exactly is his charm point. he's always with his stupid grin that makes his eyes disappear. cute... ohmygod daniel that's gay. no, not cute. anyways, he didn't like this guy but he doesn't hate him. he's a so-so. he eventually becomes closer to this boy and accepting his cute smile as a part of his day to day ritual.

at first, it was kind of scary meeting chaeyeon. she's really pretty!! really!! and daniel is weak when it comes to pretty girls. she's just kind of her type – kind of. this poor boy doesn't even know what his type is. that's probably why he rarely speaks to chaeyeon at first. he avoided chaeyeon's eyes – not that she cares and tends to stutter a lot. opening up to chaeyeon takes time – until she heard her dirty joke. at that moment, all hell breaks loose because it was a really funny joke. that's when they start to talk to each other – chaeyeon broke the stigma that pretty, elegant girls are boring, for him.

at first, doyeon comes across just a pretty girl – out of the girls, he finds chaeyoung the prettiest but she's nice too. pretty but well, that's it. why look at doyeon when chaeyeon's over there? well, what actually made everything change is actually a game. doyeon was playing her wii when daniel challenged her for a bet – the loser treats the winner for a lunch; and she won. daniel had never seen a girl that made him feel that happy since a long time. well, it was the start of a huge crush; the boy aiming for the girl's heart.

elkie is the only person he knows in the house – mainly because of youtube. there's a stereotype against computer science students that they are unhygienic. well; that's not true. in fact, if you enter daniel's room, you'll be surprised on how nice his room is – scented candles, decorations, everything screams aesthetic. that's why he kinda has a fanboy moment, meeting elkie. plus, elkie is a fellow chinese. therefore, he feels that they will bond perfectly fine. however, he does feel a little bit disappointed that elkie isn't as friendly as the rest is. she's nice though. nonetheless, elkie becomes a sister figure to daniel; the girl she can keep his secrets safe with – fun fact: elkie is the only housemate who knows how much of a softie daniel is. she often accompanies him when daniel's binge-watching sad movies.

INTERACTION —

at first, daniel dislikes him and tends to keep a distance with him. he feels threatened – this boy is cute and he's closer to doyeon than he is. it took awhile – daniel keeps on avoiding him. he tries not to speak to him, despite his chatty nature.

he confessed to elkie after elkie confronted him on his behaviour towards the boy. "i'm jealous! doyeon and bin is always together! why can't i be closer to doyeon like he does?" he whined to elkie. elkie literally laughed at the boy before reassuring that the two didn't have feelings for each other – in fact, she came up with the idea of trying to get closer to bin to scoop on details about doyeon. daniel agreed.

he becomes closer to bin – until one day, the two are alone. "hyung, can you do me a favour? i'll pay you!" the word, pay, alone excites him. that was the start of their deal – an employer-employee relationship is formed.

bin started giving lessons to daniel on how to get doyeon; they even went on dates together. they became surprisingly fond of each other. it felt too natural – way too natural for both of them to do it without feelings.

at first, bin did go to doyeon's favourite place; pretends to choose what doyeon would choose. without him realizing, it became a choice of moon bin. bin started doing what he likes – and surprisingly, he felt happy doing it with daniel.

daniel drags bin everywhere – twice's concerts, his dota tournaments, he even took bin to a beach two hours away from their place because he missed the beach in california.

it started with holding hands; then, the casual wrapping his arms around moonbin's waist; it turns into back hugs and then, cuddling happens.

and sorry for the super late review. i've been very busy with festival week at my uni
okay first thing first, LUCASSSSSS!!! i'm so happy to see him! he's not even my bias but i kinda have a special place for him and chenle in my heart lol like i'm going soft whenever i see them!
