Cool, Wenji's bright persona gives her the image of a cool person who can make friends with just about anyone. Loyal, she never betrays and always stays. She will continue to support her friends even if the whole world turns against them. Observant, like the motherly type of person she is, she is a very observant person seeing how people act towards each other and how they react in different situations. Friendly, Her friendly aura is very present through her appearance. She doesn't look like the type of person who does anything sketchy or rude and this is further confirmed once you get to know her more. She is a very friendly person and often says 'hi' to everyone she passes through at the sanctuary. Good at communicating, Wenji is good at communicating with people knowing the right words to say to them. It may sound like she is a con artist trying to persuade someone to buy her product but she really is just good at talking to people.

wenji's parents are part of a very well-known group of hunters. jinsoo's parents were also part of this group. there were a lot of them and they were all experts in their own field giving them a very elite team. all their hunts were successful to the point that they were feared by other beings just by uttering one of the members names.
one day the group went out to hunt a demon that has been causing a lot of death in a certain part of korea. the battle was very intense and took hours but they managed to defeat it with jinsoo's father putting a bullet between the demon's eyes. they celebrated it and kept praising jinsoo's father for defeating it even though wenji's parent's were there to help and trap the demon. her father couldn't get over it and left early.
wenji's father was tired of jinsoo's dad getting all the praise, it was always him who got the final shot, always him who gets the praise. he knew he couldn't unleash his envy so he just kept it to himself. the time came when they all got old and started to retire. some had kids and lived a peaceful life while others were next door neighbors. jinsoo and wenji's family were neighbors which wenji's father really hated, he had thought that he wouldn't see jinsoo's father ever again but he was wrong.
wenji was trained to become a hunter just like her father. she would train with her dad in physical combat, learning the weak spots of every creature, what weapons to use on certain types of creatures, and her mom would teach her magic that came from the dark arts. her father was really strict with her since he saw that jinsoo was also being trained by his father and that he was progressing much faster than she was. she really hated it, all the yelling, all the pressure, she wanted to leave but where would she go? she doesn't know the answer to that either so she remained silent and just did what her father wanted.
wenji and jinsoo became friends while they were at the river. she was done with training for the day and wanted to relieve some stress so she went to the river. turns out jinsoo does the same thing when he is done with training. they became close to each other and named the river as their secret meeting place since wenji knows her dad wouldn't let her be friends with jinsoo.
wenji woke up to the sound of glass breaking one night, she went to her parent's bed room and saw them being taken away by demons into a portal. she was about to step in but a demon saw her and waved his hand forward pushing her backwards and knocking her unconscious. she woke up and saw that her parent's were really gone and what she saw last night wasn't a dream. she found a folder with some papers inside. her eyes widened at its contents.
it read:
"let's play a game! now it's very simple! you see those pictures attached to this folder? well those are your targets! all you have to do is eliminate them and be the last one standing! what do you win you might ask? well, you get to see your parent's back! im sure by now you noticed that they went missing. now for those of you who are wondering, yes you can enlist the help of others to help take down your targets! tick-tock children, its time to get killing!"
she looked at the photos and saw that these were the kids of those who were part of her father's group of hunters. her heart almost stopped beating when she saw jinsoo's photo in the folder, he was also part of this sick and twisted game. she was panicking at first but calmed herself down. she had a plan. she knows that a demon is behind all of this, so if she can find this demon, she can find her parents and all the parents of those who were kidnapped aswell. wenji quickly packed all the necessary stuff and headed to jinsoo's home only to find it empty. she thought that he went out and started eliminating people but if that was the case, why didn't he kill her then. it was unbeknownst to wenji that jinsoo had no idea about this game since he didn't see the folder.
wenji looked for one of her targets in hopes of gaining some help. she came across one of her targets and he wasn't alone. he had the same idea and got recruited the other participants forming an alliance. wenji joined this alliance and told them about the demon and that they could get out of this game alive. wenji was walking back to their base when she saw dozens of hunters smashing through the windows and doors. she heard screaming and gunshots then the sound of footsteps. she saw one of the participants leave with a handful of hunters who weren't part of the list. she walked into the room and saw her friends, all dead. wenji could only stare at the bodies and think about how they could've all survived.
wenji managed to survive weeks of being chased down by the other hunters. she kept moving from place to place in order for her to be hidden. wenji knew she couldn't take them down by herself, she needed a team. luckily she heard about this new group of hunters who are recruiting. they have done a lot of successful hunts and have some powerful people on their side. so she thought that if she could get herself in that group, then she wouldn't get targeted so often.

parents|son jisung and son yewon|both are 45| jisung was the strict father who always wanted to see perfection. he would constantly scold wenji for every wrong move she makes. he does this out of his anger for jinsoo's father. he wants his daughter to become a better hunter than he is. yewon always saw this as a childish move. she would scold jisung whenever he would yell at wenji. she was the caring mother who always told wenji stories about the days when she was a hunter.
love interest|hong jinsoo|20| they were close friends as children since both of them had strict parents who both want them to be the best hunters. they find it funny that their parents have some sort of rivalry at their age. she slowly fell for him everytime they met by the river.
enemy|kwon hyunbin|22|this was the man who killed all her friends that day. he has his own group of skilled hunters. he has been killing of everyone on the list and has encountered wenji a couple of times but she always escapes using her dark magic. some say he doesn't even care about the prize, he is just all about killing.
demon|yoo jaebum|???|she was introduced to jaebum as soon as she casted her first spell. they don't interact much but they get along. he teaches her new things about her magic whenever he appears.
