the man. 

traits — positive: protective, empathic, patient, trusting (believes the best in people) 
neutral: sassy, supportive/loyal, energetic, private person, confident when needed
negative: stubborn, naive, tease (being frustrating), tactless 

 

personality —  

(+) He's protective (like a mother bear of her cubs) of those he considers his precious people, so people like family, his team members, and his good friends.  Harm them and he will make sure to repay you what you've done times ten. His way of retribution is more of sharp, cutting words and sassy distant polite disregard rather than fisticuffs. You will feel his dislike/almosthatred of you.

 

Mingkwan is excessively patient. Like a saint. You can not believe how patient he can be. Even if you purposely try to get to the end of his rope, ....it's going to be a looooong journey dear. The length of the rope does depends on how good your relationship to him is though, if he cares for you it's going to be a lot longer than if you are a stranger persistantly annoying him. Or an acquaintance who keeps dispiriting him (and the people important to him).

 

He's very good at putting himself in other people's shoes, understanding them leading to his empathy for what other people are feeling. Making people (sometimes even strangers) feel at ease with him, spilling their  problems (and story) and letting themselves get comforted by him with getting defensive or ashamed. He has a very comforting aura/presence. 

 

He always believes the best in people, optimistically believing everyone has good in them, doesn't believe in rumours much (unless there's some sort of evidence), which is proably why he always gets taken in by untrustworthy people. Although sometimes this endears him to some who would either feel bad and won't take advantage of him (very rare) or remember him as an awesome dude and have a sweet spot for him (and be happy to do him a favour or two in the future). He likes to give second chances (or reserve judgement), but never third chances if you are stupid enough to also screwed that up. 

 

(=) Mingkwan's a sassy man, he likes having sassy convos with anyone who can keep up and not get too offended. He would always have a funny feel-good distracting somewhat-joking answer for any awkward or hard to answer question (usually in interviews or out in the public). Energetic in a way that he's always full of energy bouncing around being excited about things like a little kid and annoying sleepy people early in the morning (or even not in the morning).

 

He's open-minded and very supportive for all kinds of  issues people stress out about, he's always in your corner, looking out for your best interests (most especially if you are one of his precious people). In conflicts he tends to try and look for compromises that everyone can agree to rather than fight. 

 

(-) Once he gets an idea in his head, it is very very very hard to talk him out of it. Persistant and stubborn he will single-mindedly do things his way, or insist on getting something done asap or perfectly even when it's not necessary, and/or he will definitely dig his heels in if you say 'No!' You'd definitely need a different method to try to persuade him otherwise.

 

His sweet naiveness ties in with his too trusting nature of believing in people making him be the one forever being deceived by unsavoury characters in the world, or taken advantage of by almost everyone.

 

It's unbelievable how the same person can be a damn tease trickster and bluntly tactless. He gives very flirty smiles and cheesy answers and seductive winking, or even telling tall tales and leaving a cliffhanger as the end, and then walk away like it was nothing, happily infruriating people to no end. He loves teasing people and getting a rise out of people, such as, seeing their face go red (either from embarassment or anger or ...) or any kind of reaction is good too. He also can be quite frank to people, bluntly telling some 'your skills are not good enough do better and maybe we can talk', others 'you think you're worthy? definitely not', 'you don't work hard enough, why do you think your still at this level?' you might ask am I fat? or do I look pretty in this? and he'll tell you his thoughts exactly (e.g. yep, definitely. almost like a healthy cow. good stuff. or nope, are you sure you're not anorexic? definitely too thin, I fear you'd be blown away by a breeze. or even, I.... don't... see any difference...)

— makes healthy herbal stews for his precious people when away from 'base' (eg to another part of korea for more than a few days or overseas) 
— has a habit of people watching, and guessing/making up their life story
— loves listening to music almost everywhere he goes, have a playlist for almost any situation he finds himself in
— drinks tea instead of coffee in the morning (coffee doesn't seem to do much for him)

the story. 

background — 

Mingkwan is born to a fairly wealthy family in Seoul, S. Korea. A good work ethic, honesty, respecting everyone, and adherence to duties and responsibilities were instilled in him by them since young. For someone who's born with a silver spoon, he's a humble sweet guy (with a prim and proper demeanor) who doesn't spend his money superfluously. He had Muay Thai lessons since young (with his brother, enrolled by worried parents) to help him protect himself if any unsavoury people somehow got through to try to kidnap him.

In school Mingkwan's pretty popular, people just seems to flock to him. Either due to his good looks (he's always been good looking in one way or another), his intelligence (he does not get lower than the top 15 of his grade), his reliability and gentlemenly chivalry, or his background of wealth. Throughout his schooling life, he made one very good best friend that, Ming considers a brother from another set of parents, (who largely unknown to Ming has kept him relatively safe from big betrayals, lies and scams), and the rest are normal acquaintance-ish friends.

He likes all kinds of music, originally into classical music and OSTs and folk songs, he sarted to get into kpop (and jpop and cpop) from some friends (who are big fanboy/girls). He loves singing and making music to reflect his moods sometimes when he has nothing to do. Everyone says he has a good voice, so he got the idea into his head to become a singer musician artist. His family wants him to have no regrets and chase after his dreams, howeer they insist on him putting due emphasis on his studies and not let his grade drop just because he might not need them in his potential future career. He auditioned for the Korean entertainment companies' auditions whenever they were open for recruiting, yet he got scouted into Park Studios.

So one-night-stands are totally out for him; like he would happily flirt and tease with a just meet stranger/aquintance, but it wouldn't end in ever. (he prefers hints and leading to things left to the imagination more that a bare-all - just sayin' if you want to seduce him... )

▪ he has a bit of a crush on one of the members that got delegated to the other group, it sort of started forming just before the members got seperated (Not the member that's his friend in the connections section) --- if anything starts or how it ends is up to you

you're in a 13 member group. has this ever bothered you? — Has it ever never bothered anyone? Big group equals harder to get known individually, lost opportunities to other members for work not needing all of us, and also a group effort to keep the top spot and conveying that we get along oh-so-well. On the other hand it also means more people to share hardships and celebrations with; also a bit of riding the tailcoats of the more popular members (for not-so-popular members) when they promote the group.

 

do you think yourself better or worse than the other members that share your position? — *a raised eyebrow.* Of course I'm in the better half, *scoffs* what kind of question is that?

did you involve yourself in any physical altercations? — uhm, I try not to, but needs must. I find words are typically more effective though.

 

in group arguments, do you prefer to speak your mind or stay quiet? — If no one else that shares my point of view speaks up then I will. All sides should be heard. If someone else had spoken up I would lend my support to that person.

 

you have a chance to start over somewhat in this new unit group. what changes will you make to yourself, if any? — A new unit group? Hmm, may be a good idea to revitalise Surge. Bit hard to start over if people already have preconception of us when we were promoting as Surge isn't it? I guess, be a better, more hardworking, more skilled, and more charming me.
