Ever get Freak Weather?

In Ireland the main weather is rain. I don't mean rain in which you can use a pretty umbrella. I mean rain with gusts that could knock you off the edge of the planet (if we had an edge).

Snow isn't our thing here on the green Isle. We don't have the equipment or anything in case it does snow.

As luck would have it, we got a surprise this year. Snow from Siberia and Storm Emma. The country got a couple feet of snow, crazy high winds and had to shut down. I'm talking no schools, no universities, no business and even the airport, closed. Total closure (with the exception of hospitals) and curfews, yes CURFEWS!

Personally, I think the government did good because it would have been risky having people out in conditions they've never experienced. It would've been especially hazardous for kids and the elderly. However, I wish the country had some efficiency in cleaning up. Yes, there was grit on the main roads but there are so many places that needed it yet didn't get it. Picture this: you live on a hill, your nearest neighbors live a mile away. The road outside your gate is a secondary road, small, narrow with a ditch on one side. You're basically stuck. If you didn't stock up on groceries, tough luck.

Another scenario: you live in a housing estate. You may or may not own a shovel. There's a foot of snow greeting you the minute you open the front door. You've to dig a trench to get out of the house. Everything is white outside. You can't recognize your car. You don't know where the footpaths end and the road begins. Bear in mind you don't own snowshoes. Snow isn't 'normal.' You've to dig out your car and the road, to prepare for when the country re-opens. Everyone's outside and together they manage to make a one-way road for cars to go to and fro. Sadly, all the snow was tossed to the footpaths so woe pedestrians you'll have it rough.

Snow in this country is actually such a nightmare.

So lemme ask you, do you guys get snow where you live? How do you manage it?

If not snow, do you ever remember a period of freak weather situations? How did you guys get through it?

i live in florida and last month alot of our highs were near 90 degrees f. in FEBURARY! and now its march and we are reaching lows of nearly freezing at night. our weather is so bipolar. and then when hurricane season hits we all pretty much sit with bated breath wonder if our houses are going to be destroyed tbh. either that or if we are getting flooded

OMG! I didn’t know it snowed there! I have a friend that lives in Ireland, but she didn’t tell us about the snow! I live in Chicago so snow was pretty much normal. But i go to school in Atlanta so it basically never snows here and if it does even a slight snow that barely cover the ground everything shuts off. School and every place. They don’t have a system here when it cones to snow! But be safe tho! If possible don’t go outside since its gonna be slippery

Omg dont even get me started on the weather in Canada especially Alberta one day it will be +30 and 2 hours later it will start hailing hell even full on blizzarding like there is no actual prediction
I guess we are just used to it so we don't shut down like the last time schools were closed was because it rained too much so it was flooding
