its origin was due to joseul having hard time pronouncing her own name as a kid, hence why her parents started to call her josi. it has became her most common nickname for some reason, when the others found out about the nickname, usually if they started to use it towards her, it's mostly because they find it cute.
CRESCENT (초승달) ✧ a fan given nickname before it became used by the members as well. they first started to use crescent to call her was because they noticed how her eyes always turns into a crescent moon when she smiles or some refer it as eye smile. hence why they started to call her so. the nickname is mostly used when she's all smily and laughing and her eyes starts to disappear. it kind of became her persona as well.

joseul's principle in dressing up is to not wear anything that draws too many attention, she doesn't care much about what she wears as long as it's not too flashy. joseul prefers to wear a more feminine and casual look, something that everyone commonly wear. mini skirts with t-shirt and sneakers as her footwear is her most common look she go for on a daily basis. though she prefers to use mini skirts or dresses, she would use jeans once in a while though she favors skirts more. her favorable type of shoes are sneakers, notably blacks and whites, but would love to use colorful ones too. joseul isn't the type to wear accessories on her hand, but wouldn't mind wearing necklace and hats on her head.

BACKGROUND
joseul was born second to her family, on february second two thousand and two. she was born to a family with middle income and parents with decent jobs. most of her early life was pretty average. with both of her parents busy with their jobs, most of the time they are rarely seen home. her mother only became a stay at home mom before she felt that the two of them are old enough to be left home alone and take care of each other while they're out at work (and by her calculation, eight years old was deemed appropriate apparently). her older sister had been a rater trouble maker one since they were young, so she had no choice but to act as the "older" sister apparently. joseul had always been the more quiet and more well behaved sibling since they were younger, hence why even at eight years old she can be left at their home with foods their mom prepared and does all her chores and homeworks with none of their parents worrying about her.
joseul started getting involved with music was when she was in kindergarten, where she was part of the kindergarten choir. though kindergarted choir isn't really something that no one actually deemed important, joseul found herself enjoy doing something for the first time when she's singing. afterwards, she would join her school choirs as she enters elementary school and middle school. joseul liked singing, but wasn't necessarily in to the music industry. she admits that she did dreamt of being a singer once in a while, but she never truly know if she want to be a part of the industry. watching idols on television telling their trainee life stories was one of the reasons why she had to think a lot whether she wanted it or not.
her parents had gave both her sister and herself a little talk on how they should choose to pursue their passion and shouldn't try to choose to pursue something just because everyone else is doing it. joseul then chose to listen to them, but not before asking their opinion on it. when she told them she would like to become a singer, her parents simly replied with a "if that's your passion, then do it" with a warm assuring smile. although she gave them quite the shock when she stated that she wants to start auditioning right away, knowing that she was quite young at that time. but then soon gave her permission after a series of reassurance by both joseul and her sister.
TRIVIA
01 ✧ joseul and her older sister were named using the combination of both of their parent's name. yeah, kind of cringey, that's why they never told anyone the meaning behind their name. when someone ask her about the meaning behind her name, she would usually just say that "my parents just likes the name so they used it"
02 ✧ she attends school of performing arts seoul and is majoring in practical music. since joseul is a fast born, she is one year advanced from other 2002 born. her classmates are all (or a big majority are) a year older than her.
03 ✧ was really torn apart during produce 101 season 2's final. she was confused whether she should go and vote for woojin or daehwi. but she decided to go and vote for daehwi, since she was worried with his constant drop of ranks.
04 ✧ her top 11 for produce 101 changes from week to week, but she was always loyal to vote for her four fellow lablemate every week and also her fellow '02 liner samuel and yoo seonho (and also justin, before he was brutally eliminated on their second elimination).
05 ✧ joseul uses "hyung" to call both daehwi and woojin, whilst she calls youngmin and donghyun as "oppa". one of her reason for calling daehwi and woojin as hyung is that she doesn't really sees them as an "oppa" or some sort, but still sees them as someone older than her. joseul calls them hyung as her attempt to feel less awkward with them.
06 ✧ joseul is like woojin when it comes to socializing with their fans through sns. which means, she barely ever goes to fancafe or twitter. probably doesn't know how it works. most of the time even if she did planned to post something, but she doesn't know what to write and ended up not posting anything at all.
07 ✧ has a kakaotalk account and has the app on her phone, but she barely use it. or better yet, she rarely ever reply to the group's group chat or the other member's chat or her other friend's chat if she doesn't deem important. she is rarely seen using it that the other members assumed she doesn't know how to use it. tho, she always answers her family's messages.
08 ✧ reads a lot as well! preferably novels. she would read whatever genre as well. whenever they are on their way to a schedule or to the airport, joseul could be seen holding the novel she's curretly reading. she doesn't secure them inside her bag "it may damage their vulnerable exterior" a.k.a she doesn't want them to get the slightest scratch or folds on them.
09 ✧ an idol group noob (mostly for the newer groups). is always confused during variety shows when the other members starts dancing along to the latest hits and how they memorize the lyrics and point moves well. joseul, in the other hand, only listen to those songs once in a while, or just whenever the other members blast it out loud on the speaker. but as she became an idol, joseul tries hard to listen to other idol's songs as well.
10 ✧ joseul's favorite type of songs to listen varies, she's not that much of a picky person. but instead of a catchy beat and lyrics, she prefers to listen to a more calming and easy listening songs. joseul loves to play those 1 hour long or 30 minutes long songs compilations on youtube like this & this, usually as her bgm when she's reading, since they are mostly beats and no lyrics.
11 ✧ doesn't like the "what's your ideal type" question, to the core. because (a.) she doesn't have one, (b.) nor does she want to have a love life, (c.) it doesn't really matter because no one even sticks to the type they say out loud.
12 ✧ doesn't get along with boys that much. tho unless they are someone that she can truly rely on or she can relate to a lot.

ryu hyunhee is joseul's two years older sister. being born first to the family, doesn't really make one the more mature one of the pair. she's a childlike and carefree soul, who doesn't think much about things in life. unlike joseul, who is very quiet and awkward.
hyunhee has become the one of the few people that do listen and seeks for joseul's care and advices. it's ironic how she's older, but yet very dependable on the younger one. joseul had stopped her sister from doing a lot of things that she will regret in the future, hence why now she would seek joseul's help first before doing something important.
even now, where she can't see her sister daily, hyunhee would send a chat to her or call if it's really urgent.
hyunhee return her gratitude for joseul's help by being the most supportive member in the family. she's the one who sends good luck messages the most since her trainee days, to the one who often sends meals and snacks for joseul and the girls to enjoy together.

the older brother she never had nor never expected to find. youngmin who was the one that joseul comes to for mental support, one of the only few people around the company that joseul doesn't mind seeing her crumbling apart and in tears.
though it all started during the first few weeks after her debut, when youngmin and woojin found her crying outside of the dance studios. when he came and tries to stop her from crying with encouraging words, she felt that she can trust him when in doubts.
joseul relies a lot to him, but youngmin to could rely on her at times as well. they tend to have a good relation between them, rarely have misunderstandings between them.

namu had always been the type of person that joseul feels as an "ideal personality type" or the type of person joseul wish she could be.
her likable nature tends to make joseul jealous at times. she likes to observe and look at whatever namu does or says, makes her wish that she can make friends as easy as namu does.
they got closer as they start to prepare for debut. though when they were still trainees they had small talks once in a while, though mostly was initiated by namu and ended awkwardly by joseul. but as joseul realized they might end up debuting in the same group, she tries to get to know more about her and the others as well.
joseul is still awkward with namu, but is indeed starting to get close to her. namu is the person she goes to a lot when she's in the mood to discuss about something. it doesn't even have a specific topic to start off with, and she doesn't even mid having a discussion about topics she doesn't understand with namu.
joseul and namu got closer when joseul got close with daehwi. she would nuzzle in between both of them when she want to have someone to talk to.

daehwi somewhat became one of the people she can truly talk comfortably with. one of the things both of them can really relate with each other was being fast borns. was the sole reason on how their relationship was established. then afterwards they became quite close.
daehwi somehow managed to get that awkward skin off of joseul and quickly found the "rude" version of joseul. though daehwi seems to be unbothered it and quite find it amusing, since it eventually leads to them gossiping. it's something that joseul rarely does, but since whenever she voices out her negative view on someone or thing to daehwi, it would be followed up with him agreeing and so.
despite some times where she could get quite rude to him or seemingly disrespects him, she truly cares about him as well. joseul sends him a lot of support through his time on produce 101, especially when he recieves a lot of hate and she would send encouraging messages to him.

though joseul's name is also an uncommon name to begin with and she would've loved it to be known with her real name. but she also wanted to have a pretty english name as her stage name, because she doesn't want foreigners to mispronounce her name or have some tongue twist trying to say her name. joseul chose the name joceline, because it still has her real name in it and for her it doesn't sound that mouthful for koreans so pronounce as well.

TRAINEE LIFE she wanted to have a normal childhood and had only planned to start persuing her dreams of becoming a singer once she's in high school. but seeing that it would be an age advantage if she starts earlier (in which if she did have to train for 7 years, she wouldn't be 'too old' to debut). so she tried out for woollim. she doesn't know why she chose the said company, maybe it was the admiration for the group infinite? or maybe because it seemed like a decent company?
she auditioned and passed not long after. she was twelve at that time, possiby the youngest at the company. joseul wanted to become a singer, but it seems like the company felt that she would fit more in an idol group. though she didn't want to be an idol or girl group member, she had no choice but to went along with the training. joseul hated having to learn how to dance, and messed up a lot from time to time. she happens to have spend a few month training with the members of woolim's next girl group, lovelyz, before they started to perpare for their debut. the girls helped her out a lot with her lack of experience with dancing, especially yein and mijoo.
she, of course as expected didn't make it in to the group's debut line up, nor did she even expected to be in it. but it was harder for her to continue on the training without the eight older girls who babies her a lot yet still help her a lot for the past few months. she had mental breakdowns ocasionally, but still chose to continue her training at the company. she only then decide to leave the company after how betrayed she felt towards the company. she didn't leave because she didn't see any chance of her debuting sooner or later, but because how betrayed she felt by them. they who chose to keep jisoo locked away from the debut promotions and a comback, after her scandal instead of doing anything about it. joseul chose to leave.
a few months afterwards on one early month of 2015, joseul decided she still wants it, to be a singer, or an idol if that was the only choice she had. she tried out to audition at a few big company such as sm and jyp, but didn't make the cut. she then tries smaller, less ambitious. joseul tried brand new music, a company that is known for their hip hop music, quite a contrast to her image (she admits). she got accepted not long after her audition. she would admit, that she felt more in ease at the new company. the company wasn't known for an idol group or even had one either, to joseul that's probably why she doesn't feel the burden to be as good as the already existing group there. she felt more comfortable there as well when knowing that the other trainees there are around her age or a few years older, though she doesn't interact with them a lot and only started to feel the need to when preparing for debut.
though joseul didn't favor debuting as an idol, but it would be a lie if she said she wasn't delighted when knowing she will make her debut with the other girls.

a lot of posts kept on pointing out on how joseul doesn't have that much impact or role in the group. a lot of people do however compliments her refreshing and cute visual, though they wonder if that was the only reason why she was in the group.

post wanna one disbandment, the girls did a vlive together with the brand new boys. delighting fans with their cute interactions and such, but some viewers pints out that joseul might've said something rude / insulting to daehwi. some fans defends while pointing out that daehwi was laughing afterwards and was not offended, but some claimed that it was clear that he's faking it and just being nice to her/ the company was quick to repond that they are just close friends and was just joking with each other.
