personality. the trainees of beau are hard-working and soohyun is no exception. she will go the extra mile to practice, truly believing that she needs a lot of time to catch up to the others. because of that, she's used to wearing herself out and tends to be the one of the members who is still bright after a tiring dance practice. using her corny jokes and cheesy made-up anecdotes, she entertains her fellow members after practicing, or during their free time. she has a knack for telling fake stories, and can be considered a habitual liar but she has good intentions. she has also broken a prop before due to her clumsiness and she just put it back and acted like she didn't even touch it. she's also awfully mindless about certain things-—and certain people. she's known for being the group's personal cheerleader but some way or another, she gives the managers and the other staff a headache. she blamed it on her being excitable when she almost stained a shirt before while eating, and that one incident with the prop. the thing is, she's quick to apologize but she didn't even notify the people in charge, and she doesn't really think of it as a big deal. aside from those mishaps, she is quite compliant with the staff. and doesn't comment on the clothes they make her wear or the schedules they make her come in.

soohyun is dubbed as the 'happy virus'. she tends to spread around her cheerfulness. she's not the only one in the group who is like this, though. so, she wonders why she's the only one who's called with this. the reason why she's often bright is because she genuinely appreciates the hard work of her fellow members and doesn't want them to be in a sour mood. she's been told that emotions could be contagious and she would rather have a group full of sunshine than a group that looks like they just lost their only daesang award. soohyun can often be seen giving them handwritten letters and food items to pick them up. she also gives them a ton of promotion whenever she gets interviewed by herself. you can hear the proudness in her voice while talking about them. although, with her frequent pampering and checking up on the group, most of the members would find her very annoying and tiresome. while soohyun can always be found hanging with group, she's very independent—mostly due to her upbringing. she's capable of doing most tasks by herself and deciding what to do on her own. she trusts her judgement very well and doesn't need a lot of time to decide on something.

honestly, soohyun is the best and worst person you could ever meet. i mean, it's a bit of an exaggeration but when you meet her, she's a nice person to be with. she's cheerful and caring and all these positive things, and you don't find anything negative about her. but she actually has one glaringly obvious weakness. she has very low self-esteem. the main reason why she was scouted in south korea was because of her looks, but soohyun doesn't have the ability to acknowledge that or anything else that she's achieved or managed to do. she would put everyone else on a high pedestal and set the bars high for herself. she's the type of person who'll win against you in a game and claim that it was just luck. instead of making you feel better, by she's downplaying her win and that actually hurts more—especially if you're serious about competing with her. but she's really just like that. she's also humble with her other achievements—like her previous modeling job that she never mentions to others—but she wouldn't hide her excitement about the experience if she was asked about it.

background. born in sunny arizona, soohyun was an only child and had a food critique and a chef as parents. she was a surprise for them, honestly speaking, but they cared for her as best as they could. they were lenient on her and let her do things by herself. they also spoiled her with a huge allowance—it wasn't a secret that her parents were loaded. from the get-go, she aspired to be a singer and her parents was okay with it. at least their daughter had a dream. they supported her when she wanted to enroll in singing lessons. she also did vocal covers of her favorite songs like 'american boy' by estelle on this platform called soundcloud. she uploaded her covers and got a decent following. during the hallyu wave, she got into kpop via f(x)'s chu—she wasn't very patriotic so it was her first time liking songs that were korean.

during some time in 2013 she stopped uploading covers because she got a job offer in south korea and she was focusing on that a bit more. she was scouted for this model company called beau entertainment while her family was taking a summer vacation there because soohyun had just graduated from high school. her parents told her that she could stay in one of the apartments they had in seoul so that she didn't need to go back and forth arizona and south korea. they usually rented out the apartment block but there wasn't anyone staying there during that time. after about a year, she got a roommate. he was the son of her parents' friend. he was a middle schooler and needed a place to stay. her parents thought that the house was too big for only one person and that soohyun could use some company. it wasn't long before the house was occupied by only one resident again.

when beau changed from a modeling company to an idol company, some of the models became trainees to become an idol. soohyun was one of them. she grabbed the opportunity because she remembered her dream of being a singer. fortunately she passed the audition. this halted her modeling career and she had to leave zhangjun by himself—her housemate. she was training to be a main vocalist but she had minimal improvement, and she had to take a break off to let her vocal chords heal from over-exertion. this was the time she got a role as an extra in a webdrama called 'to be continued'. the main characters were boy group members that were going to debut next year. she got renewed hope and worked more efficiently, focusing on strengthening her weaknesses and expanding her repertoire. she took the rap lessons and acting lessons. anything to make her stand out. the day she was announced to be in the line up was all worth it.

this barely legal teenager has been soohyun's assigned housemate ever since he came to south korea—which was a good one year after soohyun arrived. he had a knack for the language and even became fluent in it faster than soohyun. zhangjun did not only have the skills, he also had a face that would send sm entertainment knocking at his door (their door, technically). he's quite tempted to—with all the hot kpop boys there are—but his one and only aspiration is to become the ceo of his own company. he's currently studying business administration as a freshman in one of south korea's top universities and has the house all to himself after soohyun got the offer to be an idol trainee at beau entertainment sometime in 2015.

contrary to their current friends-til-death relationship, they spent their first few weeks in awkward silence. she didn't know the reason, but it felt like the boy was too cool for her to approach. after an accident with the washing machine malfunctioning and soohyun coming in to the rescue to turn it off amidst the wave of detergent bubbles, they managed to break the ice and finally introduce themselves to each other decently. he's the type of person who's never without a sassy comeback and a flamboyant nature that isn't quite apparent with his seemingly cold and quiet exterior. soohyun often contacts him via kakao and visits their house whenever she's permitted by the company.

what better way to describe the two than 'a match made in phoenix'? with a passion as hot and fiery as the dry heat beating down on arizona, this couple had given birth to a baby girl who would later grow up to be the literal personification of the sun. they often spoil her like how rich caring parents would, but also gave her chores and pasttimes that only needed minimal supervision if none at all. because they wanted her to grow independent—and also 'cause they wanted more time to themselves, those disgusting love birds. the two run a house-renting business that had been giving them a huge amount of passive income—that they decided they didn't need to work anymore and often go on dates. they had easily agreed to have soohyun live in south korea.

love story. when she saw him for the first time. it was like, bang! she finally found what she had been looking for all these time. she never needed to raid all those hospitals with zhangjun when her ideal type was just lying around in an idol agency. their relationship was strictly professional (as mentor and student), but after a while when soohyun would get more antsy during their class, he would consult with her to diagnose the problem she's having during acting classes. they had minhyun in the room while the consultation occured, so soohyun played it off as 'just nerves' to changsoo. cue the stylist's deadpan humor that didn't feel too much like humor to soohyun at all—"isn't it obvious? she likes y— ". this prompted soohyun to tackle the stylist to the ground and bid the acting coach a quick goodbye as she dragged minhyun out the door.

love story. minhyun was assigned as one of eunoia's many stylists and since minhyun was friendly, each and every one of the girls knew him. he often minded his own business but he found it fun to tease soohyun because whenever she saw the acting coach she'd act really clumsily. he'd just shrug it off but one time, she was eating this strawberry yogurt and got some on her shirt after gawking at changsoo. of course, being the stylist-in-charge, he had to worry about getting soohyun a new shirt and rush her to change because the yogurt might stain. after the incident, he always tells her to be careful while eating. he also smirks whenever changsoo comes around, and soohyun will ultimately glare at minhyun instead of even acknowledging changsoo.
