2017 in retrospect

I am suffering with the worst period cramp i've ever had in the last decade of me having periods so here i am, reminiscing on the past. Typical.

2017! A year that went by with the speed of the light and i think a year where at first I thought nothing really happened but when I looked back at it, a ton of things happened.

My brain is riddled with pain-induced endorphine injections so I can't really think straight right now, and so I'll just put the top 17 things that happened in my life in the form of a list. yay.

1. Graduated university. After 4 years and too much money finally it's over. The downside of this is I have to say goodbye to my second home aka the place where I really, truly grew up, Melbourne, I love you :*

2. Re-discovered my love for writing. I've always loved to write. But 2017 is really the year where I found myself churning works after works after works, and completing stories, and making oneshots like it's me finishing a slice of lemon meringue pie, it's an amazing feeling. My writing brain is no longer "an overflowing bathtub with a clogged drain". In 2016 I only worked on one story  (it's 50k, but still...) and some sporadic oneshots. In 2017, I worked on stories and i love em all. I love writing wow.

3. NCT. I thank 2017 for the simple fact of allowing me to stan NCT. No regrets, the best (AND worst, where's my money gone) decision I've ever made. The muse that I never knew I needed until I found them.

4. NCT Dream's B-tracks. :*

5. 2017 was the year where I can say that 'I've experienced the feeling of true happiness' aka my trip to New Zealand. Sitting on a tree trunk overlooking a lake in a cool morning after eating a nice breakfast and drinking nice coffee, listening to good music, writing. I found out that making myself happy is simple, and i will forever remember that early morning routine as the thing that truly made me appreciate life.

6. Books. I re-discovered my love for reading. Because after writing so many , sometimes i feel like my brain is nothing more but a dried up husk and the only thing that can be a remedy to that is reading. (I guess 2017 is the year where I realised the reason why I hit a reading rut is because I've overgrown my stay in the young-adult section of the bookstore lmao took me long enough to notice)

7. Without you by taeminki. that's all thankyou.

8. Haruki Murakami's Sputnik Sweetheart. Easily dethroning Patrick Suskind's Perfume as my favourite novel of all time.

9. Love. Finding love, that's a thing.

10. Learning that you're never too old to learn anything. Case in point: me learning figure skating at the age of 21, while surrounded by little pint sized masters who look at me like i'm a clumsy giant sasquatch.

11. I look good with red hair.

12. Learning not to rush time. You know that feeling of "omg I want event A to happen sooner. Time, please flow quicker"? i'm trying to do that less. Just enjoy the moment. Don't rush anything.

13. This ask. I love it so much I legit print it out and put it on my journal LOL.

14. Moon Taeil. LOL.

15. Learning to stop being ashamed of the actions that I decided to take. Life is short and my happiness is mine. Not happy with that? Then haha sorry.

16. FRIENDS!! Just friends in general. New friends I made, old friends that are still around. The concept of hanging out. idk. I guess 2017 is me learning to chip away that social awkwardness wall that I've built over these years.

17. Learning that nothing last forever. I might like "A" today and hate it tomorrow, and that's okay. 2017 is the year where I learned to enjoy things as it happened and once I don't, to anticipate what the future holds for me to like next.

All in all im glad 2017 is over wow next year im 22 i feel old already.
