AUTHORS: How would you feel if someone STOLE your work? *Will gradually update*

Three hours ago I found that one of my stories was copied word for word and posted on Wattpad. I have contacted the author and reported the story. I also went through the comments to let people know that I was the real author and if they wanted to read the original story, they could find it here.

One of the people I left the comment on said:

How would you feel if someone told you that you shouldn't matter if someone took your work because theyre "sharing" your idea? I should just sit back and allow someone to take my work and credit it as their own?! The fact that this person also told me that I should just credit the fake because they 'remade it' baffled me. They didnt remake my story, they copied word for word- why should I credit someone for something that I could have done?! NO.

I'm sorry that I take people stealing my ideas as personal. My 'Just a story' could have possibly been made into a book. The fact that you're condoning what this person has done just shows me how much I need to leave AFF. This is not something I will let go lightly. 

Im sorry, but plagiarism is still wrong. Do not condone this behavior or else I will label you PART of the problem. 

I sincerely thank everyone who has supported me on this. This is the AFF community that I know and love because us as authors are so supportive of each other. I will duly note who helped me and I will hopefully be able to return to the favor.

Came back to this blog to refresh my memory. Dang, what the . The nerve of some people. They've never had anything stolen from them in their life. Self-entitled and naive af.

I didn't even want to waste my time confronting the person who plagiarized my story poster. I'm saving my energy for anybody who plagiarizes my story.

This is NOT ok. You have every right to be angry. It's your story, you spent time abd effort on it, and nobody else gets to decide what to do with it. Sharing and stealing are two very different things, and this is just plain theft.

I used to think the same as these obnoxious folks, "I don't care if people steal my work, people will end up reading it anyways," or "Why do people care so much about being plagiarized. It's no big deal." As I grew up and matured, I have a totally different mindset. It is never EVER okay to claim any stories (let alone anything that does not belong to you) yours, re-post, or anything else if you do not have any type of permission to do so. You weren't credited, you weren't linked. This is unacceptable. What's even more unbelievable is how these idiots can just push aside the fact that this person plagiarized the WHOLE story word for word, only changing the picture, and tell you to stop being so 'mean' about it and backing this person up like plagiarizing isn't a big deal. YES IT ING IS! Yes, it is 'just a story,' but you've put in every ounce of effort you could to make this story and it's something you created so it's not 'just' a story to you.
I wish you the best of luck to get the story taken down from wattpad! This is terrible and I will never ever in my life understand how people can condone things like this. Smh.

I am beyond LIVID after reading the replies from those people. What is the link? I will report the story and let those people get a piece of my mind.

These people clearly do not write, because they don't understand the concept of plagiarism. You can simply explain to them "I am mad because what xxx author has done is plagiarism. I can report them and see them in court if I wanted to because it is against the law to do such things. Plagiarism aside, it is morally wrong to claim others' work as their own and not credit and ACT LIKE THEY WROTE THE STORY. Do you understand why this is such an important issue now?" and hopefully that'll shut them up.

oh my gosh... that's just terrible!! wow, I'm still surprised that they would respond like that... stealing your writing is already terrible, but if they're being so stubborn over it, they have serious issues! they should respect your decision and hard work. plagiarism is such a selfish act, it should be common sense what they're doing wrong...!! it's even worse considering that other people are supporting the plagiarizer...

hopefully you can get this resolved.... >.<

wattpad is cancer lmao. I haven't found clear plagiarism for my stories but people have lifted ideas and sentences off of me — and I didn't realize that blog post going around about that notorious aff plagiarizer was my issue until I realized the plagiarizer followed me and read my baby fanfic HAHAHAHAHA. I think people on wattpad are more adamant about plagiarism issues, but that doesn't make it any less wrong. if they don't take it down and you've already reported it, it's out of your hands. ; _ ; you have every right to be pissed, though.

Wow I'm genuinely shocked by their logic. If it is word for word, there's no way it could be a coincidence. I also think it's so wild that because they posted it on another website, it shouldn't be a problem? Like that is the actual argument there?
