Do readers owe an obligation to authors?

so I got into a rather ridiculous debate with someone on here regarding if readers owe an obligation to authors for the stories that they write. I'm curious to know what you guys think about this. Are readers obligated to subscribe, leave comments, upvote and stay subscribed, or is it fair to say that just because a writers put their work out into the open does not mean those who read it owe them an obligation?

Nope! It's really awesome when readers do that stuff, but as I always say, write for yourself, not for everyone else~~!

No, it means a lot to authors (or at least to me) when people do those things, but they definitely aren't obligated to do so.

I personally would like it more if people unsubscribed when they want, that why you don't think they're still reading.

No, readers are not obliged to anything. Writers aren't obligated to put their work on the internet and as such, readers aren't obligated to react to it. It should be mutual, to give and receive.
