sure, he grew up fine and his parents were fine, but his problems lied outside of home. her name was kwon mirae, and he liked her. however, she was infamous among the school for being popular among boys. he didn't expect her to return her feelings, but he certainly didn't expect her to approach him first. nonetheless, she didn't approach him for the reason he hoped. rumor around the school said he was a stalker and she decided to confront him about it. at first, it was a baseless rumor but people started buying into the rumor after seeing him. after all, it is much easier for someone to buy into a harmful rumor about someone if they're ugly.

it was a quiet sort of bullying; where instead of visibly snickering and teasing him, they ignored and isolated him. he was alone. boys thought he was pathetic and didn't want to be seen with him due to their ego, girls didn't want to be the next 'stalking' victim. he faded away. he seemed to suit the color of blending into the background. he fell into a depressive state and couldn't focus on school. carrying a card that read 'rank 239 out of 280,' he would escape to karaoke rooms to relieve his stress. 

he brought a mask to the school talent show and decided to sing. with his voice along to 10cm's stalker, the majority of them forgave him for his past 'actions.' mirae herself even accepted his apology and let bygones be bygones. from that point on, people were more willing to accept seunghyuk and he was able to have a typical high school experience. though, his permanently destroyed self-hatred still haunts him. he was driven to such a point where he began believing the rumors the more he looked at his reflection.

trainee life　after making the auditions for midnight, he spent the first two months crossing the line and coming back. he would skip practices to go back to his parents' home. he wasn't used to the training, so his escapist nature took a bigger toll on him. but he managed to get his act together and salvage his chance at midnight. he struggled with dance in particular and had to work hard, but eventually made his improvements. he mainly focused on singing and practicing his technique above all else.
