What makes you do the thing you love to do #lifediscourse (?)

LETS START THIS DISCOURSE.

Where 1). unusual angle 2). random discussion 3). honest opinion happens

OK so

I just want to do some experience-sharing and question-asking about "what makes you do what you love to do?" For me it's singing, and writing, and drawing although as this question is more posed to activities in which you share the result to other people, I won't be talking about my drawings too much lol I only do it as a pure personal hobby.

I sing because I love to sing. I write because I love to write.
Whenever I feel down in the dumps, or spent, or feeling a bit worried of 'why aren't people appreciating/responding to my works', I will remind myself that I sing or write for myself FIRST (as in, I sing and write because I love the act of singing and writing), then for everyone else second.

But I just read a really interesting discourse courtesy of my fave tumblr blog about how apparently there's 'good comments' and 'bad comments' that you can give to fanfics?
For example:
- Keyboard smash - bad comment. Not enough feedback. You might not even read the chapter.
- "Please update soon!" - bad comment. Not enough feedback. You might not even read the chapter.
- Positive feedback - good comment
- Constructive feedback - bad comment. I want positive feedback only.
You get my point. ADDED FOR CLARITY: Which i totally don't understand because??? no comment is bad but a comment is bad too (if it's not done correctly)??? A please update soon means that the reader can't wait to see more of your work. A keyboard smash means that the reader was so overwhelmed they don't know what to say. And a constructive feedback is... a FEEDBACK! Like holy people, grow a backbone.

Being a silent "reader" (or silent subscriber/silent upvote/silent kudo giver/silent bookmarker [if you write in ao3, which I do] is also bad. And you will hold your story hostage, or stop writing your story, until you get the right type of comments or encouragement for your story.

Which I just don't understand. Like, I totally get it, long, detailed comments are awesome. But a sub is a sub, a kudo is a kudo. People enjoyed your story and they still leave a token of their appreciation to it and?? You're still being picky?
And to be honest I've also complained about not getting comments, and wanting more comments, and stuff like that. I know, it's natural, especially when I'm in my down days. But I'll never stoop so low as to... beg or passive aggressively demand for feedback. I've also stopped writing stories because I don't get enough feedback for them, but I notice, that when I did that, most often I was doing the blasphemous "writing for the masses" (as in, writing a story that I hope will bring in readers, not a story I wrote because I legitimately want to tell a story).
And yes, from my track record of having many many MANY unfinished stories, I might not be the perfect person to discuss this problem LOL but don't worry those unfinished stories were caused by another whole can of beans (as in, my crippling perfectionist streak and fear of commitment)

Wishing for more substantial comments is a normal thing to do but I just don't understand how people can claim to "love doing something so much ahay" but collect their motivation /solely/ or /in great amount/ from an external source, which is tbh the most unsustainable resource to get your motivation from lol.

And so I have a question:
Say if one day the internet collapsed (idk how let's just suspend our disbelieve here) and there's nobody around to give you any instant gratification to your work. Will you still write? Will you still sing?

Great I'm a bad reader. Gotta go and write some long apology letters.
