what makes you send a friend request?

i really want to know what makes people decide to send out a friend request to people. i always get friend requests from people, but then they never even attempt to speak to me, i always end up being the one to say something first. even then, people don't seem to be interested in having a conversation. it's like they just added me to have a huge number of people on their friends list, really, what's the point? i have 89 people on my friends list and we almost never talk. the few times that we have exchanged a few words is when i decided to be the one to say something to them first. i'd have a lot more than 89 people if i didn't often go through my list and just start deleting people who i haven't heard from within the 5 years i've been on here. when i first joined, people would send me a request and actually try to talk to me, now that rarely ever happens. the rare times that it does, the person usually just stops replying at some point. i don't know, could this really just be a me thing? maybe it doesn't happen to a lot of other people and it happens to me so much that it seems like it's the norm here now.

I often just chat with people, making them smile is my thing, but then if they dont need me i prefered to just slowly let them be..... Its just me i guess, and since i dont easily trust others.... Unless one constantly talks to me and forge a bond, then things might be different

That was totally a black out for me to say anything. I rarely add people and when I add, it mean that I already become friend with them through story comment XD hmm.. I also do aware about that. People just add me but I still left alone at here TT so buddy, you can talk to me about anything^^ but I'm more talkative about BTS XD

A question i always have in my head lol. I started to believe that some of ppl who added me are "collecting" friends for...a reason.like the friendly badge lol

i rarely send friend requests now because of the reasons you mentioned; namely, not talking after we add each other.

I Like to add authors that have a really good stories, so it's nice to keep up with them and their stuff ( I mean I would chat and stuff but I'm like not really interesting;3;)

I just got active again on aff and I also used to talk with a lot more people years ago. they're probably aren't on here anymore so I started deleting the mute ones as well and tried to add people who may have same interests as me like groups, music, series .. . I'm usually shy so I only start contacting them if I feel like it or there's a reason for me, I'm sorry if that bothered you I didn't mean to make it seem like this. I definitely don't send requests for numbers but probably bcs I found your profile interesting. If you like to we could talk more, I would be really happy about this because I really don't know anyone on here anymore. otherwise you can also delete me, that's really just up to you. :)
