AFF Roleplays?

I don't understand them. I mean, I get what a roleplay is (like pretending to be a generic person is fine like a police officer or a fictional character), I just don't get why you would want to pretend to be someone who lives and breathes in the real world...

Is the point to make a fantasy reality? The RPs on AFF, Twitter, Facebook, etc are to live out if you were a celebrity and see how that relationship would go? Also, if you join a roleplay, you would have to go out of your way to make an email address and a separate account for this act, for a lack of a better word. You would have to take up that person's persona and make it believable in order for other people to "play" with you. Isn't it tiring?

Basically I'm just curious about this genre(?). I don't know if I'll ever have the guts to take part of one, but it'd be interesting to learn more about it.
Are you part of one? Were you? Do/Did you like it? What did/didn't you like about it?

I don't take part of it but I read some people do it and I think that you don't have to go all out.

I never roleplayed as real people until I got into KPOP and I thought that, along with fanfiction, was weird. So I feel if you can accept writing from a real persons point of view as if it were your own for a fanfiction, role-playing is essentially the same thing, just always first person, and with more than one author.

At first, before I joined, I thought roleplaying was really weird so I tried staying away from it but my curiosity ended up getting the better of me. In a sense, rping is like an interactive story - you write your part, then wait for your partner to write something back, and then you go back and forth and you build on what you provide to each other. It may seem strange to you at first but if you really like things like "choose your own adventure" stories, then you can view rping as that !

I once tried it out because of curiosity and ads keep popping on my wall about it. At first i was so lost about the role playing thing, and it was tiring. I basically just wasted my time on facebook just talking to people and getting to know them. But thankfully the first RP i joined was friendly and they got active people in there. So it was fun. But the security checked was going on and most of the members got disabled more than 5 times so they quit and the rp became not active and had to be closed. I tried RP like 2 years ago and it was fun while doing it, you get to make new friends from all around the world XD , but at the same time you're going to waste your time with it. So this rp thing is a good thing and a bad thing for me

Just think that some people like to 'be' someone/something else. And that is what Roleplay is. It's kind of like 2nd nature to them, so it's easy thing to them.

Me, personally, I find it so weird and tiring. I rather write all the conversations that I have in my head down into a story. All the characters I created into a story. Using my biases into a story rather than 'being' them.
