Its all about the ships and readers

I am really curious, and sometimes kind of concerned about the passion some readers put on the fics and certain ships. I would like to ask my fellow readers, what do you think about shipping and readers?

Sometimes I see in comments of another stories that when the main couple doesn't end up together, the readers are mad or angry, discarding why the author ended up the way it ended. Sometimes, they don't care if the main character is a jerk or cheated on the other side, or made really bad things as violence or , they still wish for them to end up together, and that concerns me, because even if it's just a story, it worries me, because that the way people see a relationship? That for certain people everything can be forgiven? Just because they are Exo or Twice or GG.

I would like like to know your opinions on the matter.

Shipping is different from tolerating toxic relationships. No matter how much people say that they're "just stories", their preference and attitude toward them reflect their worldly views. When you look at it from a bird's perspective, it also reflects to what extent people are willing to overlook for the sake of shipping. Borderline obsessive and alarming, indeed.

Gotta admit I consider that a problem with their mindset rather than a problem with shipping tbh. It is a problem but mainly just because all these things get excused rather than it is because of shipping in general.
I don't really know how express myself but I think it's the wrong approach to relate it to shipping, because these things happen in OC stories as well (and often) and as such has more to do with a godawful mind than they do shipping TvT (im so repetitive, sorry!)

i know. i've been cursed by quite some readers who earlier 'loved' one of my older fics but then got angry because the ending wasn't what they expected....i mean...for the entire fic...i had surprised them every chapter...so i had no idea why they expected the ending to be predictable...lol. i made the girl ended up with no one after showing chemistry of her with 3 guys...well, 1 guy was indecisive, the other was a jerk...yet most of them were upset because she didn't end up with either of the two guys n not the other nicer guy, she deserved better anyway...neatly tied happily ever after generic main couple together kind of ending is not really my kind of thing...it's kinda boring when it's always that way. i mean it's not something i'm totally against of(just not preferring it)...but it's not a necessity to cause ruckus when it doesn't go that way...i can understand some readers are passionate more about the ships rather than the plots/characterization sadly, as a reader myself...i'd rather a refreshing plot/characterization even if my ship end up separated...rather than reading same thing over n over again...but well, nothing i could do bout it if ppl have diff priorities...i'm glad i don't write/read for those really big fandoms...i guess the obsession with certain fixed ship/otp are more hardcore there...well, i don't feel pressured since i barely have readers on other fics other than that one fic...so, i just write what i want.

when people are willing to forget extremely bad things in order for a ship to get together, that's concerning.
but in general, people rooting for a certain pairing is understandable. after all, that's why they're reading the story.

personally i go for stories about pairings i like (isn't that what we all do? xD) but then again if it's a long and complicated chapter story i won't throw a fit if my preferred ship doesn't end up together
