as a leader, woojin is strongheaded and responsible. she's the type of person to make sure everyone in the group is doing something and benefitting from practice. that leader who sacrifices her time and effort to make sure you improve more than you expect to and make you realise your true potential? that's woojin for you. she doesn't like to let anyone down so woojin always does everything to the best of her ability even if it brings harm to herself in one way or another. however, because of the full on belief and faith she has of others, anyone who chooses to betray her or break her trust will end up feeling her full wrath. she holds on to grudges quite well, considering the fact that she gave you her trust and respect as a person even before she gets to know you well. because of that, she actually works harder than her members to make them debut just to show pledis that they were not going to be a forgotten group of talented trainees. she made it a point to show pledis what they have missed out on.

"Don't tell me you're tired, everyone is. Just it up and practice"

hardworking, diligent, determined; that's leader-nim for you. always the first to get the kids butts to practice and also always the last one to leave the room. if you hear the nickname "pledis ghost" that would probably be han woojin who used to train for 14 hours, rest for 1 and then get back up to practice for another 4 hours even into the wee hours of the morning. there were times that she fell asleep in the practice room because she was too tired, scaring the other trainees who come early to practice. she never had a thought of giving up because performing was her dream and seeing others enjoy her performance made her happy. however, because of her eye for perfection and her always do your best attitude, she came off as strict while monitoring the rest of twoteen members. she was famous for being a devil when she was in the practice room according to the twoteen girls. but this was only because woojin wanted them to succeed in reaching their goals. she could see the potential in them and wanted them to flourish instead of simply achieving 70% of what they can actually do.

"Stop envying them and work hard. Make them envy you in the future."

coming from a person who had perfect grades, many leadership roles and a positive mindset, being ambitious was just part of the package. while other trainees were contented with simply finishing the monthly evaluation the company had, woojin always prepared herself well and worked super hard in case of a surprise test by the trainers, while others chose to stick to their initial positions like vocal or dance, woojin tried out every position there was, she enjoyed trying new things but going into the monthly evaluatons only 50% prepared was not acceptable but i mean.. she had 6 years to train anyway not like it was a big deal anymore. nevertheless, just like being ambitious was a strength, it was also kind of a flaw. she expected everyone to have the same mindset as she did and couldn't stand people who gave up so easily. sometimes, her words may come out as blunt and maybe even insulting but it was honestly with the sincere intention of seeing the person be the best she/he could be.

"Talk to me, guys. Even if it's about toothpaste running out, tell me."

buttttt all the traits above was when she was in her leader mindset. outside the pledis building, she was plain old han woojin who looked so gentle she couldn't even kill a fly. despite being brought up in a wealthy family, woojin never bragged about it and was a very down-to-earth person. status, intelligence, wealth, all that didn't matter to woojin and it made people comfortable around this easy going girl. even in variety shows or other shows trideca were in, woojin never liked to introduce herself as the leader and preferred seeing her girls being in the spotlight while she took a step back and smile from the side. despite this, she is a fairly gullible person. of course not to the point of getting her money cheated by that one street vendor at hongdae but more like her friends can use the same prank on her at least 7 times before she stops falling for it. maybe even when people actually twist and manipulate their words to make woojin agree without her even suspecting her possible doom.

"All of you are like my kids *sniffs* you make me a proud mother."

she was that mother hen who would sacrifice her own food to feed her chicks without thinking twice about her hunger. being called umma instead of unnie or noona made her smile a lot, knowing that she could be someone her friends can rely on for support. she never hesitated to treat her dongsaengs and friends, even when the thing to celebrate was as measly as wonwoo finally saying a funny joke instead of his usual lame ones. during practice or meals, she made sure her members each got their fair share of food before she took whatever was left in front of them. but just like all mothers do, han woojin nags, a lot. woojin rarely gets angry but when she does, instead of shouting or even locking herself up in the room, she starts whining and nagging people for small things like that one piece of sweet wrapper on the floor that everyone ignored. it gets so annoying the trideca members and even members of seventeen will quickly heed her every command just to make her shut up.

"Of course, I'm fine! So you lazy bums better continue smiling alright?"

despite her feminine appearance, woojin's tongue can turn out to be as sharp as a knife once she loses her calm composure and chooses to fight back instead. it's fortunate this rarely happens except when her members teases her about her physical handicap called soccer or when wonwoo about gaining that 0.1kg of weight or when her brother teases her about her ever shrinking height compared to his 187cm frame. but this is always a funny sight to those who are not being insulted by the ultimate goddess of niceness. unknown to many, her sarcasm kicks in not when she wanted to make others laugh or poke fun at her friends as a joke, but it was somewhat her defence mechanism. she totally forgets what manners are when someone disturbs her about her insecurities or even worse, asks her about her secrets. she ends up biting down on her tongue and apologising straight after anyway if her retort could worsen the person's self esteem. it wasn't that woojin found it difficult to tell people her secrets, it was mostly about telling it to the right person at the right time for the right situations. like how she only talked about leader issues with seungcheol and pledis issues with her brother and dorm issues with chantelle and her insecurities and personal problems with meanie couple.

 

 

background

— unknown to many, woojin came from a very privileged background. both her parents were fairly wealthy people in korea, her older brother was the successor of her father's business but had his own career as a renowned photographer and she, was actually a child model who had extremely good grades and an equally impressive character. since a young age, woojin's talent and passion for dancing were well-received by her family members. she was sent to a prestigous ballet academy but woojin was still unsatisfied and went on to learn jazz, dragging her older brother with her. seeing their child's interest in the entertaiment industry, her parents pulled some strings and managed to make her a child model, exposing her to the harsh world of showbiz at a young age of 8. however, once 5th grade started, woojin stopped modelling at 11 to focus more on her studies and initial passion for rapping and dancing.

— even in school, woojin's grades and reputation were exceptional. she was always in the top ten students of her cohort, thanks to the extra classes her parents have paid for her to excel academically. given her personality, woojin was never arrogant and was generous in lending a helping hand to whoever needed it, be it in academics or even as a listening ear or a shoulder to lean on. she was head monitor of her class for 3 years straight in middle school, giving her the opportunity to hone her leadership skills, making her well-liked by her peers. however, unlike her peers who were forced into piano lessons or even choral lessons, woojin was frequently seen rapping to eun jiwon's parts from sechkies' songs and tony ahn's parts from h.o.t's candy, which was contradictary to her feminine and frail appearance. 

— at 15, han woojin got accepted into the typical idol dream school of SOPA. in her first year there, she got streetcasted by many companies, fnc, jyp and even sm. however, words from a member of pledis kept ringing in her mind, where she was assured that she would get in even if she had a slimmer of talent due to her pretty appearance. instead of trying out for the other companies, she was blinded by the prospect of the confirmed acceptance from pledis and went to audition and was of course accepted. however, throughout the years, woojin gained quite a lot of weight and was heavier than most girls in korea (or mostly just those in the idol business). at first, her weight didn't seem like much or a problem until she realised it was hard for her to replicate certain dance moves or simply run with mingyu and wonwoo almost every morning. her dance trainer also made it a point to always pick on woojin due to her size difference compared to the other female trainees. because of this, even before she went into the idol business, woojin was forced to go through many different diets and even stay back to practice later than the rest so that she could lose weight. the change was so extreme for her body that she ended up fainting due to exhaustion and nutrient deficit multiple times. after many persuasion and lectures by mingyu, woojin decided to take it slow but even then, she had lost a drastic 14kg in 2 months. nevertheless, woojin still continued to maintain her diet, making sure that if she overate on one day, she would starve for the next 2, just so to maintain her weight and figure for the sake of being chosen to be an idol.

jeon wonwoo & kim mingyu // 21 & 20 // seventeen 

meanie couple? more like wooyu/uyu (milk) trio. wonwoo was banana milk, woojin was strawberry and mingyu was obviously chocolate. wonwoo and woojin got close since they entered pledis together and mingyu ended up joining them because of their laid back personalities. they were the three inseparable trainees who became famous within the company due to their visuals and cult like behaviour (just kidding). mingyu and woojin loved skinship and were never shy to show it but wonwoo always cringed and tried to get away from them, but they always hugged each other as a form of greeting and goodbye and it was rare to see mingyu's hands off woojin while wonwoo always tried to get them out of each other's grasps. the wooyu trio can be heard more than seen, their infectious laughter rolling down the hallways and also their friendly squabbling. due to their close relationship, mingyu calls woojin "jibo hyung" instead of noona. they were each other's source of laughter as well as shoulders to lean on. they shared everything and anything about their lives well almost everything like we don't need to know what meanie couple is doing behind closed doors. however, their interactions reduced by a lot after seventeen became popular and yet, woojin never stopped supporting them, going for each and every showcase they had during svt project and also welcoming them back with open arms to the company after their hectic schedules. they still texted in their personal group chat on kakaotalk and always tried to have group dates in the company cafeteria during breaks.

han woobin // 27 // photographer, businessman

she wasn't the sister of THE hot photographer han woobin, nahh she was the dongsaeng of the playful and annoying han woobin. they were known as the good looking han twins in the business world even though they were 6 years apart. the both of them were the kind of cheeky siblings who would act as a couple with each other in front of ahjummas and ahjusshis especially when they go shopping together or simply on a lunch date to get that extra discount. woobin frequently about secretly being a guy because of her huge appetite and interest in rapping. instead of being fazed, she fought back by saying how he was such a girl for being a pretty boy. in the end, they were close siblings who live to annoy each other anyway. since she was his sister, instead of fawning over him like the other girls, woojin is constantly seen messing up woobin's well done hair when they go out and pinching his cheek while calling him cute, which frustrates him to the point that he pushes her forehead away or even captures her in a headlock. although they were not as close as before especially since woojin got especially busy training with twoteen/trideca and woobin was preparing to take over father's business, the 'han twins' always tried to make time for each other.  fans frequently spotted them with each other on the streets and wondered what their relationship was (after trideca's debut), encouraging knetz to create more scandals about woojin, affecting trideca's reputation even more.

kim seungcheol // 22 // seventeen 

handsome strong oppa? scratch that. coups is woojin's reliable scaredy-cat unnie. if woojin was the feminine leader of twoteen, seungcheol was the girly leader of seventeen. the two of them were more alike than different, both were terrified of insects, can't cook anything edible and hate eating spicy food. and well, they were frequently bullied or teased by their members. woojin and seungcheol weren't the type to complain about their individual group problems or even how the company was treating them to the younger members, so they were each other's listening ear and advice givers. being a leader was difficult and who else would understand this other than another leader who had to go through the same bull pledis gave to them back when they were trainees. seungcheol understood woojin's pain and hardships and was her mentor in terms of how to be a better leader for the group and a better friend to the members. they always greet each other with a side hug and knowing smile with seungcheol always whispering "talk to me when you need to okay?" when he sensed that something was wrong within twoteen. 

 

♪ FAVOURITE DONGSAENG ♪

chantelle lim // 20 // trideca 

the sweet dongsaeng that never fails to ask if she was okay verbally or even with a gentle squeeze on the arm. chantelle was her daily dose of vitamin. of course there was no such thing as favourite for leader-nim han woojin but if she had to choose a dongsaeng to room with or to go out with for a day, it would no doubt be chantelle. since they were the first batch of trainees in twoteen, as one of the older members, woojin felt a sense of responsibility for chantelle who was a foreigner and didn't know korean very well. with her limited and funny sounding engrish, woojin made sure her cute dongsaeng chantelle as well as the other foreign trainees (if there are any) could feel comfortable in her home country and never thought twice about lending them a helping hand with anything. the both of them can be seen watching something on either's phone together in the practice room or simple lying down next to each other after a tiring day of practice while talking about the randomest of things like cookies and cream ice cream. when chantelle was nervous or worried about something, woojin would either pat her head softly or put a comforting arm around her petite shoulders.

at the age of 15, woojin chose to audition for pledis ent despite being streetcasted by many companies, even from the top 3. it was because pledis was actually the first entertainment to cast her plus, the person even promised her a place as long as she went for the audition. pushing other second thoughts aside, she went for pledis's audiition straight as like any other sopa student, her main aim was to get into an entertaiment and debut as soon as possible. but everyone knew it was difficult so getting a secured spot in pledis was woojin's only chance rather than go through sm's audition and not be secured a place. because of her looks and her dancing skills, woojin easily passed through without even showing her true rapping potentials.

at first, everything was like a dream come true; her own (sorta) practice room, vocal lessons by professionals and getting the chance to see her idol, after school's kahi, in reality however, at 64kg, woojin started noticing how the other female trainees were like sticks and how she couldn't dance as well as she wanted to since she was heavier than usual. getting picked on by the dance instructor didn't help with her case either. knowing that she had to be thin to have a shot at debuting as an idol, she chose to take up extreme measures such as going on a water diet and only eating one small meal a day which didn't include carbs. she even went to run with wonwoo every morning around the track before school started. she had met wonwoo, who was a classmate, when they joined pledis on the same day, they clicked right away since woojin was the only one who understood and laughed at his dad jokes. after a few weeks of training, they had met mingyu who was only a lanky kid back then. woojin accidentally bumped into mingyu and stepped on his foot when wonwoo was chasing her around the halls, threatening to tickle her for finishing his food. basically, they laughed about it non-stop because of woojin's horrified face and stuttering and became friends.

wonwoo being the typical ignorant guy didn't notice woojin's drastic weight change but mingyu did. only when woojin collapsed more than twice in a month did wonwoo really notice how tired and pale she was. neither of them knew that woojin was always staying back late to practice and sometimes even sleeping in the practice room, only to practice again early in the morning. neither of them knew the only thing she ate once every two days was a plain disgusting protein bar. one day during lunch while woojin was drinking only water, mingyu got so angry that he forced a kimbap into woojin's mouth and threatened her to eat it. at first, wonwoo got angry and scolded mingyu for being so harsh but mingyu shouted back, worrying for his noona's health. he started lecturing woojin about her eating habits and begged her to take care of her health. only then did she stop being so extreme and maintained her weight the healthy way.

with her weight loss, she was chosen to be the lead actor for nuest's new mv, offered to try out acting by her trainers and got praised by her instructor for improving. she was literally on cloud 9 and she got even happier when she constantly passed her monthly evaluations, making her more confident about debuting. in mid 2014, she cried tears of joy with wonwoo and mingyu beside her when the ceo told her that she was included in the new pledis girl group called twoteen. she made sure her members trained as hard as her, she wanted all of them to debut fast after all. she bonded well with all the members, even offering a helping hand to the foreign ones who were still too young to leave their lives and parents behind in their home countries. at first, she got angry, she didn't understand why members were leaving in 2015. some had medical issues and she understood but others were unhappy they hadn't gotten news of debuting yet. having trained for 4 years already, she understood such good news didn't come that fast. she begged, cried, shouted but they left anyway and she got depressed. however, she understood that the new members needed attention both relationship and skills wise. she trained them to be the best, getting the nickname 'devil jin' while being in the practice room but 'angel woo' in their dorm. 

han woojin was always leaving the dorm early to practice with seventeen who were already on the verge of debuting. she made an effort to always be present during every concert seventeen held during the seventeen show. making a promise to mingyu and wonwoo, she was that trainee who always bought chicken for the members even though she wasn't exactly close to all of them but she took a particular liking to the younger members especially the8 with his foreign sounding korean. seungcheol was always trying to flirt with her but got rejected with a finger every single time, making both of them laugh. end 2015 and twoteen's debut was postponed. woojin understood about the money issues and kept shut, urging the others to continue working hard and not slack off.

produce 101? woojin could only scoff at it. none of her girls were chosen! nayoung? jieqiong? who were these people to get chosen? many twoteen members have trained much longer than them and were much more skilled. but again, woojin kept quiet. she was sad but it was the company's decision. she was simply a trainee and had no say in anything. yet again, she motivated the team; she gave them motivational talks, telling them that they had to work harder to prove to the higher ups that they were much more skilled, much more ready to debut, but behind closed doors, she was blaming herself, reprimanding herself for not being able to mould her girls into the perfect idols, for making another group friends lose their idol dream and leave, again. she knew many of them were disappointed that they were not able to join the show, especially the batch 1 members who trained much much longer than some of the trainees combined. she was alone this time round, no wonwoo, no mingyu, they were busy anyway with promotions. but one day when she was in the practice room alone, lying down after another long day of training, she covered her eyes and cried, cried like she'd never before.

at that time, seungcheol had opened the practice room to find the younger members who were playfully hiding away. he knew woojin, the famous pledis ghost, devil in the practice room but an angel outside, the one who treated them to chicken and meat and even pizza whenever there was something to celebrate. he sat down beside her and starting complaining about how the younger members were pulling a prank on the hyungs by running away from practice, he complained about how pledis were bombarding svt with comebacks which was fun but tiring, he complained about how dino was always fighting the hyungs about being a man. woojin laughed lightly and sat up, hugging him tightly. that night, they got closer and from then on, he was always there to listen about how pledis was treating twoteen unfairly and about how being a leader was hard because he understood. seungcheol understood her situation well and she was thankful for that. 

when pristin debuted, she blew up. han woojin finally lost her patience. she started rebelling. the meek and gentle woojin was actually knocking at the ceo's door, demanding for him the reason for not debuting trideca. they trained longer, they trained more, they trained until they couldn't anymore. what else did they lack? looks? no. skills? no. they needed to debut and they needed to do it now. a few months later, the miracle finally happened and they got news about debuting. they were ready and they were going to blow the knetz's minds.

♪ the brother-sister date after 2 years of not meeting which was going great but ended in rushed goodbyes and worried late night texts by woobin because an anti-fan posted a photo of them linking arms and made knetz turn against the leader of trideca
♪ after a really harsh time with all the hate they received and the constant struggle by trideca, they finally won an award(???) and sang a song especially for the fans during their concert (mamamoo's tears/ i love you too)
