PERSONALITY:

+Patient+ Mi Na will take all the time she needs to help a friend or member. She will listen to any problem they have and try to help them figure out a solution or answer. She will give advice, no matter how many times she's had to tell someone the same things.

-Over-bearing- At times Mi Na can come off a bit... strong. She really has good intentions, but if someone is feeling down or wants to be left alone, she sometimes doesn't get the hint and can come off as being pushy or naggy. She'll ask if someone's ok too many times or she'll ask a member to pick up some trash twice in a five minute period. She doesn't mean anything bad by it, but it can make her seem like a nag.

+Kind+ Mi Na is the type of person to stop everything she's doing and rescue an injured kitten or help an elder cross the street. She's been known to volunteer her time and even donate money to charities just because she can. She does her best to help all those she can, just to make life a little bit brighter.

-Shut-off- Though she helps all of those around with their problems, she tries to never let her own problems show through. Even when she slips, she manages to shove it back down under her skin and not talk to anyone about things that bother her. She puts on her smile and retreats to her room for a while until she's no longer thinking about her own problems.

+Understanding/Empathetic+ Mi Na is very intune with the emotions of others and can typically read them rather well. She can sometimes figure out if someone wants to talk about what's bothering them or if they just need a distraction. This is also the driving force behind her "are you sure you're feeling alright" nagging comes from. Sometimes her intuition is wrong and the person she's bothering really is fine.

-Stubborn- Unfortunately, Mi Na is the type of person to throw herself whole-heartedly into something. While this can be a good thing, she tends to take it a bit far. She'll stay late and go in early to train and often will push herself past her limits. She's been known to pass out in a training room and wake up either in the dorm or an infirmary bed (or once even the hospital).

All in all, Mi Na is great at taking care of other people, but not really herself. She's loving and caring, like a mother, but also (like a mother) can be a bit annoying with how much she cares.

BACKGROUND: 

Mi Na was born to a Japanese father and Korean mother while they were on vacation in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. Her father was a successful fashion businessman; he ran two branches of a company - one branch in Japan and the other in South Korea. Her mother was an up and coming designer with a unique flare. It was instant chemistry between the two of them. They were married within two years and had Mi Na after being married a year and a half.
Though she was born in the United States, soon after she was born the family of three returned to their main home in South Korea. They lived in her mother's home country since her mother's parents were in ill health and her mother wished to be around if anything were to happen to them.
Mi Na grew up with a rather lavish childhood. She could have anything she ever wanted, yet, she never wanted anything for herself. She would ask for Christmas gifts for her classmates, or she would ask to donate to an animal shelter for her birthday. Her parents never really understood, but were glad to see their only child had a good heart. When she was four, her mother's parents passed away one right after the other and the family decided to move back to Japan for a while.
Just as Mi Na was starting school, her parents discovered she was having difficulties learning. She was smart, they both knew, because she had a strong vocabulary when she spoke - she could speak two languages by the age of five! They saw many doctors until one gave them an answer. She was Autistic and also had related problems such as dylexia, that caused her to mix up letters, numbers, and words sometimes, and a sensory disorder that caused her to become overwhelmed if there were too many sounds.
When home-schooling alone didn't help Mi Na overcome the learning disablities, her parents decided to find her something to focus her extra energy into. Singing had become a special interest of Mi Na's and she had done research upon research of different techniques, so her parents found her a voice coach. That did the trick. Mi Na started excelling in her home-schooling courses and was eventually put back in public school.
By the age of 17, Mi Na had made a few friends that she practiced singing with. They posted videos to YouTube of covers of songs in Japanese, Korean, and English. That's how she was found by SM. However, her parents wouldn't let her actually audition until she was 18. They took a family vacation back to her mother's home country just so Mi Na could properly audition, and though her dancing wasn't the best, she showed potential so they accepted her.
The week before her training officially began, her parents took her to Honolulu to see the place she was born, and Mi Na fell in love with the beach and the ocean itself.

- Always munching on something - mints, crackers, dry cereal out of a ziploc bag, etc.


TRIVIA:
- If she sees that a member is upset or seems to be feeling down, she'll offer to take them out or make them food. For example, if Alice seems upset, she'll offer to make her sushi or take her to a good sushi place for lunch.
- Whenever she has a chance, she rents a car and drives to the nearest beach and spends an entire day there just relaxing - reading a book, listening to music, dancing to the sound of the waves.
- She knows how to hula dance properly, as well as  belly-dancing. They're some of the only dances she can do smoothly and proudly. She's ok at the group's dancing, but she's definitely not the best.
- She has her license in Japan, Korea, and the US.
- She always has money on her and no one knows where it comes from because she doesn't talk about her family much. She doesn't like to brag about how much money she has, but she almost always grabs the bill at restaurants and pays for things because she just really wants to. She loves taking her members out to eat/drink (for the legal ones) after a long day training.
- She is aual and aromantic - she doesn't experience ual or romantic attraction to anyone. She's happy with the way she is and doesn't really care for love other than that of her fellow members.
- She has a good voice, but doesn't sing out very loud so a lot of people think she can't really sing.
- She can imitate the first 150 Pokemon perfectly; her favorite thing to do is the Jigglypuff song and Pikachu - she considers these her "Variety Talents."
- She has a pet cat named Toasty; she's a four year old long-hair who's fur is white and slightly toasted-marshmallow tan.
- Some people find it hard to believe she's 24 years old because on shows and on stage she's full of energy. Most of her selfies show her wearing oversized hats/bows or posing with huge stuffed animals and a big smile or playful pouty face.

 

RELATIONSHIPS:

Hiro loves his only child and would do anything to make her happy. He's not big on hugs and public displays of affection, but he hopes that Mi Na knows he loves her.

✩ Mother - Nam Jun Mi (56) / Fashion Designer / Friendly, creative, kind / Very close

Jun Mi is a very family-oriented person, ever since she was a child she's always put family first. She makes sure that Mi Na knows that she's loved. She calls at least every other day to check on her.
