☾ TWILIGHT Shin Sun Dae / The Prince
Personality traits
— Intelligent, friendly, helpful, loyal
— Childish, sensitive
— Sarcastic, spoiled, petty, possessive
— Slytherin/Hufflepuff
Personality
Sun Dae is a bit of a handful. He's a smart, kind kid, but he has a mouth on him and no filter to guide it. Though he's typically a bundle of joy to be around, cracking joke and playing harmless pranks, he can flip at the drop of a hat. He can fish out more than he can take, and he takes a lot of things personally. Being raised as the baby of the family and then 1/2 of being the baby of the group has rubbed off on him and he knows he can get his way, and when he doesn't it doesn't sit well. He wants his fans to see him as something, someone, more than just the group's "little prince" with the baby face, but he still wants his group to love him as their prince. He fights with himself a lot between wanting to be seen as a man and also wanting to keep up his sweet, innocent life.
He can hold a grudge, though he tries to reason with himself that he needs to stop being a brat. He likes to help his other groupmates and he truly is a friendly person, but he has a knack for responding to things with witty, sometimes sarcastic comments without thinking it through first. He also isn't a huge fan of sharing his things, especially if people don't ask first. If asked, he'll allow it even if he doesn't really want to, but he's been known to throw his own tantrums here and there. Pouting and crossed arms, mostly.
Background
Sun Dae was born as the youngest of five boys. He was spoiled from day one by his parents and his brothers. He was given anything his little heart could desire. He got all his brothers' old things, plus new things of his own. He knew from a young age that being the baby meant he could do pretty much anything he wanted.
He excelled in school, and from the time he could understand how his body worked, he knew he wanted to dance. He wanted to sing. He wanted to act. He wanted to be famous in any way he could. And he knew his parents would say yes.
And say yes, they did.
At the age of seven, Sun Dae was enrolled in dance classes and singing lessons and acting groups around the community took his adorable energetic in without hesitation. He loved it, absolutely loved it. He got minor bit roles in a few shows, reccomended by a few of the adults in a group that his parents really liked.
He enjoyed acting up to a point, but around the end of 2009, when he discovered SHINee, he decided on a new career path. He wanted, no, he needed to become an idol. He was ten years old and he knew he needed to perform for people for the rest of his life. Ring Ding Dong changed his life, he was sure of it.
And, of course, his parents said yes. They worried for his success, being so young, but who were they to deny him. They took him to his auditions, but in the early months of 2010, not many companies wanted to take a chance on an almost 11 year old boy. As he was becoming discouraged, there was a relatively new company that accepted him.
Trivia
— Likes: kimchi (anything spicy, actually), books, harmless pranks and jokes, being babied (by his groupmates), memes, water/sparkling water, milk
— Dislikes: sweets, s hurting, being babied (by fans), cooking, coffee, tea, soda
— Hobbies: reading, going to the gym, turning photos of s into playful memes, planning his next prank
— Habits: chewing on his cuticles absently, singing whatever he's doing (he's getting dressed, he makes up a little song sing-narrating that he's getting dressed), saying "listen" a lot when he's trying to get someones attention or when they're talking over him in a conversation/debate
— He usually needs his hyungs and noonas (and sometimes Umeko as well) to reel him in from sounding rude. He's never really caught on to formal speech and smarts off without realizing it sometimes. He also has trouble remembering to use honorifics such as hyung or noona.
— Sun Dae is nearly blind if he doesn't wear his contacts or glasses. He prefers his contacts, but he'll sometimes switch to his chunky plastic-framed glasses if his eyes start bothering him.
— His favorite book is The Little Prince. It's the only thing that makes him feel better when he's sick, and he sometimes reads it before going to sleep at night if he can't get to sleep.
— His role models are SHINee's Taemin & Jonghyun. He was hit pretty hard with the passing of the latter, and still wishes to meet the former.
— Sun Dae has trained his voice to have a large range of notes. He's proud of how high and how low he can go.
— He's not allowed anywhere near a kitchen when food is being cooked. He once burned cereal; no one really understands how he did that.
— Whenever Sun Dae is asked something along the lines of "if you weren't an idol, what would you be?' he always says he would be an idol because that's all he desires to be; someone to bring music to the world.
— He has an extensive, nearly three-hour-long skin care routine he goes through every night. It starts with a splash of warm-hot water to open up his pores, an exfoliating wash, a warm water rinse, a normal wash, a warm water rinse, then a sheet mask, a light rinse of cold water to seal his pores, a splash of toner, a moisturizer, an under-eye circle minimizer, and then he sleeps with a eye mask that's been in the refrigerator all day.
— He's very peculiar about his teeth. He brushes them in the morning and at night and doesn't eat anything that could damage or stain them. He's never had a cavitiy and plans on keeping it that way.
— His name is a combination of his mother's first syllable and his father's second syllable.
— He's been teased for having a soft spot for Umeko. He claims it's because she's younger than him and he has to look out for her.
Relations
— Mother / Shin Sun Mi / 58 / Dental Hygienist / Sun Mi spoils Sun Dae as much as she can. She tries to talk to him as often as possible, though they don't get to see each other much. She loves him as much as her other sons, even if they say she loves the baby more.
— Father / Shin Hyung Dae / 65 / Neurosurgeon / Hyung Dae doesn't so much approve of Sun Dae's career and life choices as much as he tolerates them. He loves his youngest son, of course, but still wishes he had chosen a different path in life. And, not to be made a liar, he tells Sun Dae this whenever they talk and Sun Dae says something about being tired or dance practice running late or something. So, they don't talk very much.
— Brother / Shin Jin Young / 30 / Pediatrician / Jin Young sends his youngest brother birthday/holiday cards and money, but that's really the only way they interact. Jin Young is busy with his career, his wife, and his newborn daughter.
— Brother / Shin Tae Pil / 28 / ER Doctor / Tae Pil has trouble keeping up with any of his family, much less his somewhat estranged youngest brother. His schedule makes it nearly impossible to do more than call once or twice a year and do a twenty minute catch-up.
— Brother / Shin Jun Hyun / 25 / Optometrist / Jun Hyun thinks that Sun Dae is a spoiled brat. Their personalities don't match up very well at all so they only talk on each other's birthday for all of two minutes.
— Brother / Shin Bae Yong / 23 / Nursing Student / Being the baby before Sun Dae was born, Bae Yong holds some sort of grudge against his only younger brother. He didn't get away with as much as Sun Dae did growing up. However, being the closest in age made them pretty close. Bae Yong has supported his younger brother through every endeavor and loves him dearly. They probably talk the most, even if it's short texts or internet jokes in between Bae Yong's classes and tests and Sun Dae's training schedules.
— Groupmate / Song Eunho / 23 / Sun Dae sees Enuho as an older brother of sorts, and treats him as such. He forgets to call him hyung (a lot), but he truly likes the older male. He enjoys the elder's personality. He's also probably stolen a hoodie or something from him at some point.
— Groupmate / Asuka Umeko / 19 / Sun Dae adores Umeko. Even though they're barely a month apart, he loves having someone around that's younger than him, since he's been the youngest his whole life. She's one of, if not the only person he'll willingly share with or not get onto if she uses anything of his without permission.

Trainee life
Sun Dae practically grew up in the dorms and studios at Moon Ent. He thinks of it as home, honestly. He shaped himself into a singer and a dancer, and honestly didn't care much for rapping. He kept looking to the other trainees around him and the idols they were aspiring to stand beside. He never missed a day, not even when he got sick. He trained and trained and his dreams never wavered, though his hope did here and there when the co-ed group kept getting pushed to the side. He loves the success of his labelmates, was there to cheer them on and stan them from the beginning. Though his hope faded in and out sometimes, he still kept training and bettering himself.
