comments on fanfics

y'all do know that fanfic characters are all fictional, right? even ones on real people, the characters are either how the author sees them irl or a body to match a certain personality the author wants to write about.

cause it feels like some people.....don't understand this

i wrote a fic like a year ago of yoonmin and it was of a series (that i still haven't finished oops) called cheaters. there should be a hint that it's not gonna be happy sunshine and rainbows and holding hands and perfect and balanced relationship(s).

so basically jimin cheats on yoongi with yoongi's assistant jungkook. and jungkook gets fired thats the first part. later jungkook ends up working at some low paid job and jimin is used to having yoongi's wealth and lifestyle, not that he was only dating him for financial gain (which i stated multiple times). and later jimin wants yoongi back because jungkook isn't the perfect guy or whatever and he misses yoongi. jimin says one of the reasons, one, of him wanting yoongi back is because jungkook's apartment compared to the glamours place they were living in, jimin had to get a job and he can't focus on his studies as well because of it.

and yoongi is like sure babe let's get back together

only reason, only reason i wrote this second part was because people complained about the unhappy ending. personally i like stories that don't always work out how you want them to. the characters don't end up together or it's unrequited love etc. it's a nice change from the sunshine rainbow endings that make you heart melt. and i love angst in stories.

anyways, i figured why not, i'm not writing anything else rn so here goes nothing. i didn't put as much thought into it like i did the first part because i didn't really want a happy ending. but..

anyways

that was like a year ago,

not even a week after i posted it someone complained that jimin's character "only wanted yoongi for his money, he was a basically, i don't like how you made jimin out to be"

first off

this was one of the stories where yoongi, jimin, and jungkook were bodies for personalities i wanted to write about. never did i ever say this is how i see them/how they are irl.

and i told them that they probably didn't get jimin's character and to read the last few paragraphs again because i clearly had jimin say something along the lines of he didn't want yoongi back only! for his money but because he loves him.

i went to check my inbox again today and....someone said the exact same thing. a week ago.

like yes, thank you for reading and giving comments but....read the first two comments. also, jimin was this person's profile pic so i'm guessing jimin's their bias.

so just to clarify, unless the author states that the characters are based off how the people are in real life than just know that the characters are fictional, it is fan fiction. so, not real

and yes, some relationships are soulmates, some are unhealthy in a way. some are unbalanced. this, is, just, how, the, story, was, suppose, to, come, out, as.

and it was really only meant to be the first part, the cheating and the break up.

im just annoyed and i couldn't focus on this other fic im just now starting without thinking of this.

On my other account I had a story called Cheated. Probably over a year after I completed it, someone used three accounts to comment and say that I should remove the hunhan tag because they didn't end up together at the end, even though it was focused on hunhan's relationship throughout the whole thing. Literally it wasn't until like the last chapter that it was revealed Sehun ends up with Tao. Like?

Jimin as a bad guy is never a bad thing! Personally, I would love to see more bad Jimin. Fanfic writers mostly write Jimin as someone shy, or angelic, happy and always nice to people. It gets cliche over time, there's nothing for me to expect in Jimin's character in fanfics. The same goes to the endings of stories. Although it's just fanfics, happy ending is not obliged. Like the relationship itself doesn't have to be like soulmate, fluffy, romance, and ends in a positive note. Unhealthy and unbalanced relationship, unrequited love, all those kinds of things also exist and perhaps, they are the most relatable topic to be touched upon. Although fanfic is there to feed our imagination about rainbow and unicorns, it doesn't have to be like that. I personally enjoy reading fics that deals with break up, cheating, and unhealthy relationship. Angst ones. It gives me new insight.

Anyway, it's okay. Just let them be. Perhaps, they forget that it was just a fan fiction.

I hear you, I hear you! I've never experienced these types of messages or comments before, but I can definitely say that I do know stuff like this happens and have witnessed it before as well. It's like, some peeps just get so upset when they see certain idol frens like members from their fav group or biases portrayed in specific way (usually bad/evil/not good/dark) whether it be because their character did something wrong or something wrong was done to them or whatever. It's fine to not like it, ya know, you don't gotta like every element of a story, but I don't understand why they are like overreacting. I'm someone who likes dark elements in stories (mainly like violence and gore related things + emotion packed atmospheres) and don't mind in the middle or sad/unhappy sorrow like endings. And even if I myself am upset at a character, I know that it is FanFICTION and know that the person isn't really like that. Plus, it's nice to include characters like that with not so great intentions all the time, and I think it can make it interesting even. And back to the FanFICTION point, like MinnieCrafts said, it's our story so we're allowed to do what we please within the boundaries WE set, and no author should have to change ideas around, characters, or an ending just to please others because what's most important is that the author is content and happy with what they've written.

If I had the option to upvote this blog, I would 100x. I've had so many similar comments like this complaining that I wasn't portraying the characters correctly and I'm just-
Fanfiction is called fan + fiction for a reason?? It's our world that we writers create so we can do whatever we want, and if we want to alter the character's personality if it suits the characters for our story, we have the right to lmao
I've had a comment complaining and demanding why I made Yoongi as a cheater when he's the sweetest person in their eyes and I really have no words sometimes...
