this isn't really even a rant it's more of just something that i need to write so i can move on to other stuff

this reaction blog on tumblr that i looked at maybe last month just had like this really....obnoxious type vibe??

i can't think of a better word for it but it was just like the admin sounded really pompous almost like

if you didn't start your request with 'may i have a' and end it in 'thank you!' she really didn't do it or she would get mad

i remember this one post said "say thank you in your request, i'm a human too" and something about doing the blog for fun

like......hunny....they ain't yellin @ you for not doing a million request, they weren't even requesting while your messages were closed they was just sayin 'a reaction of bts....' ???? how u goin get mad????????

tumblr is not a formal social media platform like facebook

Oxford doesn't mean over there and grammar is loose af

i get wanting people to not demand everything but literally 2 ppl didn't say please and she went off

but like you're talking to someone over the internet and it's most likely someone under 20

also some people with limited english so don't go screaming at them for not sounding polite 

but thing is...that wasn't even what made me annoyed

they got this one ask from someone anonymous: "is it rude to say could i have instead of may i have"

babe no it really isn't

english isn't a formal language and the only people you should be careful about politeness is your boss or someone a lot older than you (older customers if you work somewhere) 

like the whole 'can i go to the bathroom?' 'i don't know, can you?' from lower school doesn't even matter anymore

it is better to say 'may i' because 'can i' is more questioning on if you are capable of doing it at all and 'may i' is asking permission to do something you are capable of

but this blog was like

'i think it sounds rude so use may i instead'

don't go spreadin this false info

i mean you might think it sounds rude but literally anyone else could think it's not

i get if it's how you were raised but my grandmother always said it's rude to wear hats indoors 

but you don't see me messaging bts to take their caps off in the airport?

it just like got me the wrong way and i really don't like people that sound pompous and kinda stuck up

maybe your english teacher will tell you the other way but i swear to you no one on tumblr or on other social media platforms are formal when messaging each other because it's social media and we're all relatively the same age so it's not disrespectful
