( dedicated ) ; even though taehyuk knew that the company was only keeping him because he was good looking and that they had kind of given up on his skills, he still tried his hardest and never complained since he knew he was very expendable. he knew that there were many handsome korean boys out there that could sing and dance better than he could, so he didn't complain once.
( caring ) ; taehyuk hardly is able to care for himelf, but he easily cares for other people around him, especially if he sees them a lot of the times. he cared for his class mates, his fellow trainees and now his group mates, managers and stylists and such. he doesn't pry into other people's business, but if he's approached with someone wanting to vent to them, he will always try to help them out
( cooperative ) ; this falls in with the dedication trait, but outside of training, taehyuk isn't one to complain and cooperates with everyone around him the best he can
( understanding ) ; taehyuk is a very accepting guy. he doesn't judge people and he accepts everyone for who they are, this is likely to be linked with the fact that he grew up in a very diverse city.
( friendly ) ; even though taehyuk is rather awkward, he's also very friendly and will never pass up an opportunity to make a new friend or two, he always speaks to people who initiate conversations and he may strike one of his own up if he's feeling the confidence to do so.
( dorky, childish ) ; he's often compared to a five year old, and even though he's been through some 'mature' situations, if someone were to say out loud any part of the female anatomy that's typically supposed to be covered, he would laugh quietly and cover his mouth.
( loud ) ; off stage this boy has no inside voice, especially when he gets excited. however when he's on camera he doesn't tend to speak that much in fear that he would say something dumb and ruin his 'most handsome of them all' facade.
( sassy ) ; back at home his friends would call him the 'clap back king' because he was usually the one who would know what to say when some one was trying to 'come at him', to help the fact, he was actually voted 'most sassy' in his year book
( sarcastic ) ; taehyuk's quite a little . honestly he probably uses sarcasm more than normal language and he's always playfully replying to people in a sarcastic way, even if the question they asked was hardly dumb.
( petty ) ; taehyuk is the king of petty. if he sees an ex friend, or an ex girl friend (which there are none in korea, thankfully), he'll go out of his way to make sure that they can see him as happy as can be, and he isn't afraid to call people out on things that hardly effect him.
( angrily doesn't let people push him around ) ; taehyuk isn't one to let people to tell him what to do when he's aware they have no authority over him. one of his pet peeves is when people try to act out of their place so as soon as someone who has no authority over him tries to order him around, he usually rebels and it's never pretty. the exceptions would be his team members.
( antisocial when upset ) ; this isn't a good quality of his of course, he usually shuts himself away while still being around the people he's with. he won't go away, he'll just stop talking and withdraw himself from everything and give short, sometimes snappy answers when spoken to.

background

— growing up in a Korean household, he was always watching korean shows that his parents would be watching, and so of course, the manly guys with cool hair and the cute girls would catch his eye. taehyuk realized what idols were and he gained interest, but he knew that he couldn't dance, sing or rap, or so he thought, so it was just a dream of his that he knew he'd never be able to fulfill. however, once a year in the summer, his family would take a trip to korea to visit their family that lived there, while walking to a subway station during the trip when taehyuk was a ripe 17 years old, they happened to be passing near the hyun entertainment building right as one of the chairmen was heading to do an errand and him and his family were stopped. taehyuk was handed the card but the man expressed interest in him being an actor at the company right off the bat, but of course taehyuk knew that he couldn't pass up the opportunity and his parents agreed on allowing him to audition since they had been wanting an excuse to move back to korea. taehyuk grew up in a very racially diverse school even though he was one of the few asian students there. he had many friends growing up so he was never lonely, and his life at home was rather normal. his parents would give him consequences if he did bad in school so he nearly fit the asian stereotype, but they were also leniant with what he did outside of school, such as going to friends houses and having no curfew.

— one of his hobbies is playing video games (his favorite are kingdom hearts, final fantasy, the legend of zelda series and call of duty)
— he has a huge fear of his piercing getting ripped out, so he has a habit of checking to see if it's still there
— his handwriting in korean and english are both very terrible, when in school he was asked if he was writing with his wrong hand
— he gets motion sick easily, it sometimes happens on plane landings as well
— he's known for being a comically terrible drawer, his drawing of the united states in his geography class was mistaken for a cow
— along with being terrible with that, he's very clumsy and is always knocking into things and getting the inevitable bruises, during his trainee days his fellow trainees would count them and would have a game to see who spotted a new one first
— jokes that if he wasn't an idol he'd want to be the president of south korea
— known for his resting face
— he can produce an ear piercing screech that can't be good for his vocal chords, the trainees would call it 'the screech'
— he can sleep anywhere, s often take pictures of him sleeping in weird, unsleepable places and in weird positions as well
— ash-b is his all time favorite female rapper
— he is addicted to social media and is always posting on instagram and snap chat
— he has the web md app on his phone
— when the female trainees were practicing expectation by girl's day for evaluation, one of the trainees was absent for a practice so he joined in since he knew the dance and her places since he was around for a lot of it, he joined in to fill her spot and a video was taken. after he debuted the video was uploaded to the group's official twitter

— taehyuk was scouted to be a trainee when he was visiting korea with his family and they happened to be walking close to the hyun entertainment building when one of the officials was passing by, stopped him and asked him to audition, handing his card. taehyuk of course was in love with the idea and as were his parents who had been looking for an excuse to move to korea. he was 17 at the time, so he's been training for roughly 3 years. when he began training the scheduling was hard and he would always choose sleep over food, which resulted in his weight dropping majorly. he was stick thin and in order to debut he had to put on some weight to prevent controversy with his body.

pre-debut he was a trainee that was kept with a low profile, so the company didn't put him in any extra activities.
