BACKGROUND:

zhang wenrei was born in 5 may 1997 at hong kong. she is the only daughter of daniel and jane zhang. she was born with a silver spoon in . her parents are rich as they are coo and cfo for a famous hotel worldwide. when she was small, she get a lot of love from her parents and friends of her parents, because she's cute and is a good girl. her parents taught her well as they didn't spoil her like other rich parents do to their children. they raised her up with care and love, not with money. therefore, wenrei is not arrogant and boastful like other rich spoiled kids. in fact, her behaviours and personalities are like normal children.

in school, she is a genius, like rap monster. wenrei has an iq of 150 and her best subjects are the sciences, physics, chemistry and biology. although her mathematics is not as good as the other, it is still a high marks. she is not that active in co-curriculum activities because she's not interested in that. at the age of 13, she has the worst year of her life. one day in school, wenrei had the worst abdominal pain ever. her parents took her to the hospital and found out that she has pelvic inflammatory disease. the disease really hit her hard, she felt pain occasionally. but luckily she was cured but she still feel pain occasionally along the year. she fully recovered the next year after she received enough rest.

wenrei has interest in kpop when she attended big bang concert as she has free ticket. she was in awe of their strong and fire performance on stage. since then, she often search online about kpop and big bang. she has a talent in singing as she joined the choir club in school, the only club she joined in years. in 2013, she noticed an audition in sm entertainment, she auditioned through a video and sent it to the company. a few weeks later, she is invited to go to korea and have a full interview. she told her parents about it and they accompanied her to korea for auditioned. after a few rounds, she got accepted into sm entertainment in 2013.

- drama queen ; this drama queen means that wenrei loves to watch drama, thus the drama queen. she watched many dramas, korean, chinese, japanese, american, you name it, she watched it. her favourite drama would be sherlock and cheese in the trap.
- beats by dr dre ; as a dj, headphones are wenrei's life. she is a big fan of beats by dr dre. she has a headphone, earphone and speaker. those are her babies, she won't let the members touch it unless it's really necessary.
- movies buff ; since she's a drama queen, she is also a movies buff. like drama, she also watched many movies. her favourite movies would be lord of the rings and harry potter.
- huge potterfan ; yes, wenrei is a huge harry potter fan. she has the full collection of the seven books, both english and chinese. she watched all the movies and has the full dvd collection. besides, after the wizarding world of harry potter, universal studios has opened. wenrei saved some money and went to there to look at the wizarding world.
- coffee hater ; wenrei will never take a sip of coffee, any type of coffee, even if she desperately need it. she hates the bitterness of coffee, even if the coffee has added sugar and creamer, she will not drink it.
- bad sportsman ; she is the worst sportsman you can ever find. it seems like her body cannot move. that is why she don't play any sports and never participate idol sport championship (if the group is going).
- "dancing machine" ; wenrei is known as the "dancing machine". which means that her dancing skills is the last among the group. maybe because her body is too stiff. therefore, wenrei always say that she is good in singing but is very very bad in dancing. this shows that she hates dancing classes, but she has to because she is an idol after all.
- fear ; wenrei's ultimate fear would be... water. when the members are going to the beach to play or the hotel's swimming pool, she will sit by the chair, looking at them having their fun time. she doesn't know how to swin, which makes her has the thought that if she goes down to the water, she will drown and die. therefore, the members will not prank her and throw her in a pool of water. they know that she will freak out.
- hot hater ; wenrei hates summer the most. although it's everyone's favourite, she complains that it's hot. during summer, she will tie up her long hair and wear short pants as she hates it when she sweats.
- the renowned dj rei ; besides being a kpop idol, wenrei is also a dj. during free time, she will remix some songs as a hobby.
- another singer-songwriter and music producer ; wenrei's idols are seventeen as they are the self-produced idol where they produce their own song and choreograph their own dance. if the company approves, wenrei would really want to produce and songwriting a song for her group.
- ideal type ; wenrei's ideal type is someone who is tall and handsome. she said that her boyfriend need to be at least 185cm. therefore, the members claim that she loves models.
- original scores fan ; besides movies, wenrei also notice and listen to the original scores of the movies. after watching a movie, she will go online and search for the scores which she thinks is great. her favourite would be changing heart, above and beyond and aeon. the scores make her feel epic.
- hobbies ; without doubt, wenrei's hobby would be to remix songs and dj-ing. besides, watching movies and dramas are also one of her hobbies.
- habits ; in backstage or any situation before she's on camera, she will take out her earphones and ipod to listen to some original scores. this could boot up her confidence thus making her act well on stage.
- genius ; at the age of 18, wenrei get 1320 in sat and 4a* in a-level. she attended seoul foreign high school and took the american and british college exam. she could not take the korean college entrance exam as she is not that fluent in korean. in a-level, she took mathematics, physics, chemistry and economics.

one day in 2015, wenrei was wandering around hongdae during break time. she haven't really walk around there so she used this chance to do it. after an hour of walking around, wenrei felt hungry, so she walked to a restaurant to order fried shrimp, her favourite. there was a lot of people in the restaurant. she lined up waiting to buy her favourite food. when it's her turn, the waiter told her that fried shrimp had finished. she pouted in frustration and kept on asking the waiter when is the next batch coming. joohyuk who stood in front of her offered her the fried shrimp.

joohyuk: hey miss, take my fried shrimp. *smiles*
wenrei: um... no thanks. i can wait for the next batch.
joohyuk: well according to the waiter, the next batch is in three hours. i think you cannot wait for it. so here you go.
wenrei: *takes the shrimp* thank you so much. what can i buy you back in return?
joohyuk: hmm.. *taps chin and look at the board* fried squid then.
wenrei: wait a minute, you're nam joohyuk, from who are you school 2015 right? *opens eyes wide*

after the incident in the restaurant, joohyuk and wenrei exchanged phone number. since then, they always chat, with joohyuk talking about jokes and wenrei laughs like there is no tomorrow. sometimes, they even went out to have a gathering. since both of them love seafood, they went to seafood restaurant and try different foods. in 2016 after wenrei's debut, they seldom meet up and eat because of their busy schedule, with joohyuk gains more popularity. besides, her company would not let her go out either. instead, they mostly meet on variety shows such as happy together, running man and law of the jungle. in the camera, joohyuk seems to take care of wenrei a lot like a pair of couple. therefore, the fans ship them.
