worked in a restaurant that was famous for their jjajanmyun. growing up, mijin had been taught how to cook due to her parents always saying that mijin would inherit the restaurant's owner status and make it even more popular then it was now. they had never really pressured her into anything and always said that she was the one that would inherit the restaurant so there was nothing to worry about. as a child, mijin was just fine with that but now almost a teenager the girl didn't really like the idea. on her way home from school one day there stood a street performer who had sung a song called "to my boyfriend" by fin.k.l. this had sparked her interest in singing at the time because the person's voice had honestly gave the girl energy and she also thought it was cool that the performer had fans who watched them. feeling a bit jealous, she thought that the feeling would feel nice to have fans who come watch you and cheer you on. the idea of having fans had really made mijin interested in becoming someone famous. that day she had actually searched up the song that the person sang and well...she became a fan of fin.k.l from then on because of that choice of searching them up. the group gave her even more inspiration to become someone famous, someone that was famous for singing.
moving onto her teenage years, mijin had her try for singing covers for fin.k.l songs and had practiced most of the day singing to fin.k.l songs. now she didn't have a vocal coach or anything like that so her singing wasn't the best. when it came time to tell her parents about her dream they, at first, didn't like the idea but they let her be because they were busy with their restaurant. later on, mijin would always tell her mother or father that she would be practicing in her room and would lock herself in there for about 4 hours before coming out. this is what made her parents slowly change their idea of her being an idol. this is the most that they've seen their daughter do something with passion, other than making jjajangmyun. over time, they've started to just go along with mijin's dream of becoming an idol, although they don't know the future of their restaurant now.
when it came to be 2010, a chance to audition came up when a company called pledis started to hold auditions. although it's a pretty small company and not well known, the chances of being selected were higher for mijin. so when she auditioned and was chosen to be in the company, she was clearly very glad to be a trainee. during her time as a trainee she had met many people such as people from hello venus and trainees who are now known to be seventeen. during her years as a trainee, she loved it even though there were times where mijin was sick of just practicing for 12 hours a day. there came a time where mijin had to resign from being a trainee because her father had become very ill and her mother couldn't watch over the restaurant all by herself. this made mijin very angry and sad, she even blamed it on her father for getting sick. that was only a split second though, and so mijin had to work in the restaurant for about 4 months before her father was actually able to walk on his own two feet and do something.

HISTORY : as a trainee in pledis, wonwoo was also a trainee in pledis and both of them met in the dance studio. well more like mijin saw wonwoo and always admired him because of his personality and good looks. there had come a day where wonwoo had to sit next to mijin during a group session for practicing and that's when mijin decided to initiate a conversation with the boy. up to her expectations the boy was sweet but awkward as well and didn't talk much during their first conversation. later on, mijin had started to sit next to the boy and would talk to him whenever she had the chance. the boy, not being annoyed, always accepted the girl's presence and listened to the girl rant about something or talk about how great fin.k.l was.
