appearance » Being at a pretty young age, Jihyuk has both of his ears pierced but most of the time he doesn't wear earrings because he's still a student. For his age, Jihyuk is a overgrown baby as he stands at 183 cm and probably towers over most of the older members. His weight is around 64 kilograms but it changes from time to time because he's still a growing child. Moving onto his hair, it's sometimes a natural color or an unnatural color- it doesn't matter to him because he's willing to try anything new.  Now for anything else he's pretty much the same as his faceclaim.
 

style » Jihyuk is more on the carefree side so he doesn't really care for what he wears just as long as it doesn't look completely outrageous. He's just the type of dude who'd wear some jeans and throw on a random t-shirt and wrap himself in a varsity jacket. He doesn't really have good sense in fashion but he knows when something looks bad on him. Also he doesn't like wearing monotonous colors, he likes to add color to all of his outfits because it expresses himself as a person.

If there was one word that defined Jihyuk it would be the word friendly because the dude loves making new friends. Jihyuk is a great conversation starter which is probably why he can make friends easily. He is the type to not be afraid of new faces, rather it's the opposite. He's attracted to new faces and doesn't like to leave people out from being his friend. Also, he's one of the most cheery people you could ever meet. He likes to keep his mind on the bright side of things and doesn't get discouraged easily. Other than that, Jihyuk is a big jokester, a good kind of jokester though. He's the one person who'd make all the jokes or would try to lift up the mood by doing something weird or funny. Also, Jihyuk is a very..."active" child. If you don't see him jumping around and talking to other people then he's probably asleep. Or he might be busy writing new lyrics after he found himself a muse. He's just really energetic and could probably be called the vitamin of the group due to his energy. Jihyuk is also a very daring or bold person and he doesn't get easily scared. He'd be the first person to step up to a challenge or he'd be the one to not give up even if he was the last one standing.

Ever since he was a child, the nicknames weirdo or foreigner were always directed at him because of his odd behavior. He's a peculiar fellow. He would probably be making weird noises with his mouth while he speaks or would laugh at something weird that most people wouldn't laugh at. Also, Jihyuk is a child at heart and I don't think that aspect of him will ever change. Jihyuk is the type of guy who'd laugh at inappropriate words or he would be very amused watching Pororo. A little immature on his part, but come on he's still a growing child.

Now, because of his energy he's really rowdy at times and the leader, Minsu, would probably have trouble calming him down. He'd be partying even if all the members are sleeping and he probably has the messiest room. Jihyuk is not the waiting kind of person and he doesn't like slow people. He's very impatient and finds it difficult to wait on something or someone. Being one of the youngest, Jihyuk is a rebel and he doesn't like to listen to what other people say. He likes to follow his own ideas and would rather ignore or pretend to not hear somebody's orders. He doesn't do it whenever the situation is serious but other times he will not listen. Also, Jihyuk isn't exactly the wisest of the wise. He has poor judging skills and wouldn't know many things. For example he would buy gum at an expensive price when there was one right next to it that was cheaper. Also, he blurts things out before thinking about it which would lead to misunderstandings. So of course Minsu would have to cover him up or some other member who's observant.

background » On December 20, 1999, the weather hadn't been the best and people were busy cuddling up with their lovers but one couple had to rush out of their house into the unbearable cold. They had to rush out because the woman's water broke- ahem anywho poof a baby was born and his name was Choi Jihyuk. Jihyuk had always been a hyper child and his parents always had trouble keeping him under control which is why when they had work to do they left him at his grandparents' house to be cared for. His parents had always dropped him off and immediately leave right after because they were going to be late so they would always rush. At the age of 4, Jihyuk had been dropped off once again and his parents left as usual but this time something was different. His parents had gotten into a car crash. The car crash was fatal and both of his parents had died but when he heard the news he was too young to understand. Now that his parents are deceased, he has to live with his grandparents from now on. Growing up with grandparents instead of his actual parents had always made him curious about what happened to his parents because he doesn't remember what exactly happened to his parents. He never questioned his grandparents though and just did what he wanted to do.

While in middle school, Jihyuk had taken an interest in tennis but he also took an interest in choir class as well. So he did both but he quit tennis later on because he found that he was more passionate about singing and even considered wanting an acoustic guitar. Due to his grandparents not being finanacially rich, he never asked them but he would tell them that he was interested in it. So for his 13th year of Christmas his grandparents had gifted him an acoustic guitar then that's when he started to play his guitar. Throughout middle school, Jihyuk had stayed in choir class and even volunteered to play his guitar for some of the songs. His choir had always done these charity events where they sang in front of crowds for money and would donate the money for good causes. So one day they had went to a charity event and they had to sing while for this one Jihyuk played the acoustic guitar as well. When the event was over, there was a suspicious man standing near the school buses and he walked over to Jihyuk giving him a card about something and some entertainment company. At first Jihyuk paid no attention to it because he thought about pursuing a different career rather than being an idol.

As time went on and Jihyuk started in his first year of high school, he's noticed a lot things such as his grandparents' living conditions and how financially poor they were. He felt bad about it and wanted to help them in some time type of way. So thinking back to the time when that man gave him a card and telling him about some entertainment company gave Jihyuk an idea. Although it wasn't his plan in the first place he decided to give the trainee or idol life a go. He had only planned on doing it for his grandparents but as he started to focus on his singing and music ability he found enjoyment while doing it. Then going back through his old belongs, he had found that the card the man gave him was still in his guitar case. So he skimmed over it and found that it came from this company called Starship or whatever. So he decided to do one of those weekly auditions and he managed to pass then he became a trainee.

Trainee life » Becoming a trainee in his teenage years, Jihyuk had to balance school along with his trainee duties. He would always go to the dance studio right after school to practice. Sometimes during school he would get carried away and would start to start new song ideas or just anything in general that would help him later on. During his trainee years he had picked up poetry because he thought that it would help him alot with writing songs. He must say it does help him and it also helps him express any feelings when he feels stressed from practicing. Jihyuk, as a trainee, didn't have much trouble because he got along with most of the trainees but he never had the time to hang out with them. Overall, really Jihyuk didn't have much happen while he was trainee. He only did small things that seemed odd such as giving Monsta X drinks when they weren't looking or he would sometimes gawk at Sistar when they walked into the building.

Grandmother | Choi Jooni | 81 | His grandmother was his shining light when he was a child because she was the one who always supported him and helped him through difficult times. She would always try her best for her grandson and gave him moral support. As of today, Jihyuk contacts his grandmother on a daily basis to check up on her.
Grandfather | Choi Boohyuk | 82 | Technically the same as his grandmother, Jihyuk's grandfather had tried to give him everything that he could but they only had so much money. He would always go to the fish market and sell whatever he has before returning home and giving Jihyuk any left over fish. As of now, Jihyuk contacts his grandfather as well and he helps out his grandfather whenever he has free time.
Deceased Mother & Father | Choi Daehyuk & Choi Hyemin | 46 & 49 | Jihyuk knows that his parents tried their best for him and he doesn't hate them for dying. Since he was only a toddler, he doesn't remember much about his parents but he still loves him which is why his stage name is Daemin.

He tried to get closer to them but their schedules were very different which led to Jihyuk being some kind of admirer or stalker, depends on your persepective.
