If you defined Travis in one word it'd probably be friendly because the dude loves making new friends. Also he's a great conversation starter which is the main reason why he can make friends easily. Born on the day of August 20, 1996, in Trenton, New Jersey, Travis was born to two parents who've been expecting him ever since they figured out about his mother's pregnancy. Growing up as a child, Travis wasn't exactly spoiled rather he was always sulking in the corner because he was always punished for his wrongdoings. He's always been a rebel ever since he was a child and now he had wished he treated his parents better after a certain accident. Both of his parents were on their way to pick up Travis from school but when he was picked up he wasn't welcomed by his parents, rather he was welcomed by his aunt who had been visiting America. When they both got in the car that's when his aunt broke the news and told him that his parents were hospitalized due to a fatal car crash. Being at the age of a mere 7 year old, Travis was devastated and didn't know what to think at the time. After his parents' funeral, his grandparents in South Korea decided to take custody of him and his aunt told him he'll have to take the plane with her back to South Korea.
After moving to South Korea, Travis had lived with his grandparents and he couldn't understand a single word they were saying because he never learned Korean. So he had to go to a foreign school in his grandparents' city and learn the basics of Korean while at the same time he went over his vocabulary he learned in his American school. After his parents' death, he wasn't exactly okay and had depression as a child because of that he was often bullied at school. Moving onto middle school, his grandparents decided to move him to a normal korean middle school rather than a foreign school- another reason was because of the bullying. Because he was a child when his parents died, the memory of it slowly started to become less painful because he was so young that he can't exactly remember everything and things about his parents.
Moving onto high school, Travis had become more aware of his surroundings and became much more like an adult as he grew. He had noticed his grandparents' living conditions and noticed how they've tried very hard to make sure he had lived a good life so he wants to repay his grandparents for what they did. Since he was only a teenager he couldn't do many things but he knew that he could sing because he had been in the choir club for a while now. So taking along a friend of his who knew how to play the guitar the two of them would dress up and go out in the Hongdae streets to perform for money. He had never told his grandparents and kept the money in a secret stash in his room. Then one day his friend had told him that some dude had been watching them for 2 consecutive nights and his friend told him that he might come again to watch them. Well, his friend was right but this time the man came up to them and asked them if they were interested in becoming trainees for this company that they both haven't heard of. Travis agreed and took the man's card while his friend had to think about for some time because unlike Travis, his friend was intelligent and wise. So that's when he told his grandparents about it and they felt happy for him so they supported him.

trainee life – With his grandparents working their butts off, Travis also did the same just so he could see his grandparents not live in such conditions anymore. He would always be at the company right after school and worked on his vocals the most. He wasn't the type to dance or rap but he still tried on those categories as well. He didn't live a difficult life while he was a trainee but it was pretty tough when his grandparents weren't exactly financially rich. Travis had to balance school and his trainee life because he didn't want to focus on one thing due to the possibilty of failing on one of them. Overall, Travis' trainee life wasn't all that interesting.
