when she turned 12, her dad got laid off of his job. this was a horrible thing to happen to her family, because her dad made the most money. they quickly moved to a less expensive neighborhood, which wasn't as nice as the first one. this was her humbling experience. she learned that life shouldn't stress on the materialistic things, instead, family mattered more.
as she got older, her parents got tighter on acedemics, pushing her to get a scholarship to a good college. but she really didn't feel like school should be her next move. her mom was pushing her to follow an academic path while her dad was telling her to follow her heart. of course, she went to her close friend for help. she told subin about different things to do regarding dancing, since that was her pasion
at the age of 14, she auditioned for a few agencies that her friend recommended for her. she got rejected from all of them. this was the turning point in her life. she was deathly afraid of failing again since she didn't want to go to school and persue an academic career.
she practiced even harder and joined dance competitions so she could audition once again. she didn't audition for the same companies this time, and got into the first one she auditioned for, pledis.
getting accepted was the easy part, the hard part was telling her parents. her dad was easy to tell but her mom was not going to let her spend her whole life on training for a career that might not even come. after a while of convincing and empty promises, her mother and father made the decision to move to korea with her, leaving everything they had made home in california. it wasn't too hard to leave since her relatives were still in korea, but finding a job again and setting a foundation all over again was hard for subin.
