background. hoon’s dad is in the royal thai army and he met hoon’s mother while he was stationed over in south korea during a 6-month training exchange program – while hoon’s mother was visiting her current boyfriend at the time (a south korean guy who was doing his military service) no less! long story short, they fell in love and hoon’s mom followed hoon’s dad back to thailand once the training program was over and the two got married soon after. about a year and a half later, hoon was born. when he was two months old, the family moved to sydney, austrailia as part of Hoon’s dad’s newest assignment and that’s where Hoon truly calls home. growing up, the family took many vacations back to thailand since hoon’s dad was very passionate about hoon being in touch with that part of his heritage. however, they only took a handful of trips back to south korea – when hoon’s mom could convince hoon’s dad to go, that is.
hoon did gymnastics starting when he was 3 since his mom saw it as a good way for him to get out his seemingly boundless energy, and that eventually progressed into dancing (specifically hip hop & break dancing). in middle and high school, hoon really got into acting in school plays and he also started doing flash mobs and other dance performances with his crew from his dance studio, as well as dying his hair (1) (2). and it was one of these performances at a kpop music festival in sydney that hoon got discovered by a shine media scout when he was 16. hoon and is mom moved to seoul just after his 17th birthday so that he could start training, but his dad had to stay in sydney because of work.

FATHER kumchok sangchowwonreak. 45. lieutenant, royal thai army. half thai half korean. hoon and his dad were close when hoon was little but kumchok's job always left a bit of a buffer zone between him and his son. after he and his mom moved to korea for his training, hoon has video called his dad at least once a week without fail to catch up. but they both know that he closer hoon gets to debut the harder that's going to be to do.

BUTTER BALL kim taejoon. 19. beau main vocalist, lead dancer. this adorable little and hoon have been close friends for about three years now. they met on hoon's first day at shine have basically never been found with out the other close by ever since. (its actually sort of a running joke in the compnay - need hoon? find taejoon. need taejoon? find hoon.) they're really close friends and love to tease/play with each other, but it's strictly a platonic friendship (no matter how many fangirls may chant "HOONJOON") - they could legit be laying together in bed and nothing would happen. that being said, they do often share food/water bottles/underwear with eachother. and while they do poke fun at each other most times, they also raise each other up and cheer each other on. (basically, they are daejae - hoon being daehyun and taejoon being youngjae, respectfully).

CEO-NIM jung melanie. ?? ceo of shine media. she's basically a goddess in hoon's eyes and he treats her as such. like, he finds her so damn pretty he sometimes forgets to think when he's arond her and just stares and nods along to whatever she's saying (which has resulted in many embarassments for hoon). but at the heart of things, hoon truly respects her for how she's stepped up and taken over the company from her father and see her as a sort of role-model. he always speaks highly of her whenever she's brought up in one of beau's interviews.
HEART-EYES FOR DAYS jung michael. ?? producer for shine media. so hoon has a lowkeynot-so-lowkey crush on melanie's older brother - but its honestly pretty innocent. really all it is is hoon finding michael very attractive and definitely not declining an offer to make out in michael's office should he ever get one, but he doesn't really have a desire to sleep with the older male. at least, not at the momen since unforunately for hoon, michael keeps things very professional between the two of them, as he does with all the shine trainees/idols (seeing as how he has a personal rule of not mixing business with pleasure). but who knows? maybe hoon's constant lost puppy/teacher's pet act will rub off on michael, get him to lower his walls and maybe even break a rule or two for hoon. only time will tell~

trainee life. after him and his mom moved to korea when he was 17, his mom home schooled him for the rest of his secondary school education. so for a good year his life everyday was school work in the morning then vocal training, korean lessons, and dance practice in the afternoon/night. he lost contact with a lot of his old friends from australia during that time. after he finished his schooling he moved out of his mom's place and into shine's trainee dorm where's he's been for the past two years of his training.
