Types of Annoying Stories (Dont read if you have a sensitive soul)

Disclaimer: This is based on my own opinion, not representing anyone and this is referring to some, not all of the stories. I am not saying that I am a splendid author or my stories are the best. I know I am not a good author and my stories are faulty as (im trying to improve). In fact, I am writing this from a reader's POV. I am not targetting anyone or any story in particular. I just wanna share and know if I am the only one who feel this way aftr using asianfanfic for abt 3 years or so. If you, by chance, fall into any of these categories, dont feel offended. Its either u change it or you ignore it.

It is really annoying and frystrating when I am interested in a fanfic after reading the foreword. Then I will click on the subscribe button (since most stories are only available to subscribers only) and go on to chapter one, thinking THIS STORY IS GONNA BE LIT AF OOH LA LA I FOUND GOLD! However, when my phone screen (I mostly read fanfics on phone) shows the chapter one... *BAM* The story fell under one or some of the few categories below... -.-

1. THE TOILET-ROLLS STORIES

These stories are basically consisting of toilet rolls. LONG AND LENGTHY PARAGRAPHS/ NO PARAGRAPHS AT ALL!!!!

It's really irritating and annoying when I see a long chunk of words after clicking the next button to Chapter 1. One paragraph is god-knows-how-many-hundreds of words or worst still, no paragraphs for the whole chapter. Those chapters wihout paragraphs AT ALL are like toilet rolls, no freaking space in between and it just goes on and on and on and on. It is really really straining for us to read it, especially when there are dialogues. Readers will tend to miss out details/lines and we have to trace back (which I mostly fail to, because I am dizzy from all the lines). Hence, I don't read stories with no paragraphing or lengthy paragraphs. (Am i the only one? idk but its my opinion and habit as I said in the disclaimer)

Bruh, please, paragraphing isnt that hard. Just press 'enter' two times. These two tiny action can make my life much more peaceful adn hence, giving you another reader/subscriber. Come on, how hard can pressing two times of 'Enter' be?!

*Tip for writing conversation. One line for each dialogue/person. Clearer and minimise confusion.

e.g

"Hello?" I tried to sound cheerful and normal."What's up?"

"Hey, are you going to sleep soon?" Jungkook asked.

"Yup, I am so tired." I faked a yawn.

"Wanna know something, Minah?"

2. FUNKY LAYOUTS

Some of the stories have really nice and funky layouts. Yes, it may seems really nice on your laptop or computer screen but when it comes to phone users (lets admit it, most ppl now read on phones, well, if you wnna insist that most read on computer or laptop then ignore this point),it does not show up as well. For example, the layout u use may have a frame, causing your fonts/content to be more restricted, thus one line shows fewer words as compared to those w/o layout or layouts without frame (or wtv the eff u call it bc I dont use layout so idk the terms). When you see it on your laptop, one line probably shows 20 words or so but when you use phones to view it, one line only have like 4 or 5 words, causing ur paragraph to looks lengthy as hell so phone users have to scroll and scroll and scroll to the depths of the abyss. Its so hard to read it!

(i tried to look for pictures but couldn't find and idw to screenshot from other stories and make it look like im targetting them) if u don understand.... sorry, i tried my best to describe

3. OVERLY-PICCASO-STYLE FONTS

I honestly don't comprehend the people who want to use such artistic fonts. I just dont get it, are you tring to be a writer/author or Picasso/LeonardoDaVinchi Ver 2.0. If yes, sorry to tell u but bruh, wrong platform! its okay if you want to have this kind of handwriting kind of font (but readable ones) if you want or think that it suits the story but pls, why will you use fonts that are so curly and until I can't even make out the bloody words. I swear I have seen stories which uses fonts that are so curly, funky or artistic. Bruh, is this a fanfic for people to read or an eyesight test. (Once again, asianfanfic fonts are readible its just when people use layouts with funnt fonts)

4. THE EYESIGHT TEST ( STORIES THT CAN BE SAMPLES IN THE OPTOMETRY)

Once again, I dont know why on earth people pick such tiny- fonts in their stories. I know I have a bad eyesight and I am wearing specs so I need to go back to the optometry frequently to check if my eyesight worsen but I dont really an extra help or a free session from you. I swear some fanfic or shops uses fonts that are no different from those at the last two rows from the thing that you need to read to get your eyes checked at the optometry. This is more frequently seen in graphic shops/advertise ment shops. Most shops uses layouts and we have to read the rules be4 we request right? Some of the shops' fonts are so tiny- that I totally see . Some looks fine in the phone but once I on it with my laptop (bc its easier to request for graphics/advertisements etc. using laptops since I can open tabs and copy the story links and stuff), I have to stick my nose to the screen to read the rules (and find the passwords for most shops).

On a side note, I hate it when some of the shops layouts are so pretty that i think the creator of Maze Runner created the layout. I have to scroll to another side of the world, and zoom (if im using my phone) all over the layout to find the rules. After finding it, I scroll all over again to find the "request form" then I need to find the prices or whatever it is that I need to find to request. The worst is when I cant find the bloody password even after reading the rules and finding the request form button. -.-

5. THE LED LIGHTS

Seriously, I hate it when I see so many colors in one chapter. I mean it is fine if you wanna use a different color for a different POV. But don't have another colour for Person A's dialogue and then another colour for Person B's dialogue so on and so forth (Worst is you missed out one or two dialogue and left them in black, making readers confused). What I am trying to say is, if you want to use colors, keep it constant through out the POV/ Paragraph. Dont have more than 3 colors in a chapter. THE WORST IS WHEN YOU USED YELLOW. Bruh, are you trying to make me kiss my screen or shift my phone under some sort of Special light so that I can read it? Seriously, all of u people who use Yellow fonts... Here is a middle finger from my eyes.

This is all that I can think for now. If you can think of somemore, leave a comment. I am super interested to know some other reasons that you dont read some stories. Also, I am saying this so that more stories can be improved and it is really a waste when stories have super interesting plots but people like me, do not read it for some reasons like those stated. Because I have come across so many stories which I was dying to read but I just cant read it bc of all those reasons. Sorry if I sounded too mean, just dont feel offended :)

PS. I am also damn picky when it comes to OC's names and the pictures of the OCs in the posters but this is just a y and annoying habit of mine ( I admit I am picky as eff) but this is just a FYI haha so its not important hehe.

Yo, I know how you feel, especially about the first point you made. Truthfully, I do not really like it whenever I see stories that are heavily paragraphed. It does kinda turn me away from reading something. And I guess I don’t even mind big paragraphs that much, but it’s just kinda annoying when it’s one that has dialogue in them, like I wish peeps would space character conversations and such as well. Also with colors too, I don’t really mind those at all as well, as long as it’s not super confusing or anything like that.

I somehow agree with you hehehe (I mostly agree I mean)

That's what I always think too makes me sometimes just stop reading ruining the whole story for me :/ and when u used the yellow, i don't know if my vision is tired but it made want to try and read the word making me go almost blind lol j/k :)

Yes, definitely annoying. I hate those colors too. Maybe the author is obsessed with rainbow, idk. For me, I hate stories with too obvious plot and characters. Mostly high-school themed though.
Like, she's new student that crossed path with kingkas, then the kingkas will bully her and eventually all of them will fall in love with her.
Damn, is that really easy?

I agree with you! Those are definitely party poopers..
But the worst part for me is when characters are inconsistent. Like, you can't make someone appear indifferent and the next minute have them react like a teenage girl! Especially when they're writing about already existing people, e.g. idols.

I feel this but when the pairing I like isn't that popular I tend to just try my best to ignore these because the thirst is real and too much. :( But yes, this is very telling, of one's maturity level and even their writing confidence. Usually these things are done to overcompensate if not to distract the reader from the central point of the fic which is the plot. :(

Oh, the layouts is a struggle. The worst when it comes to layouts in my opinion is when they don't fit the screen so you have to constantly scroll from one side of the screen to the other to get the full sentence. Uuuuugh.
Also, I used to be the no-paragraph author. XD I would probably still be categorized as one in your opinion since I only make one enter-shift unless I change time or pov or something essential to the story. I just dislike too many enter-spaces in my story if it doesn't signify anything special or an actual change of scene. XD
But no offense taken, I've come far with the paragraphing XD

I get annoyed when people don't know how to use the "justify" alignment. I mean sure it wasn't all that bad, but that's my personal opinion. I like to keep things neat. And yes I'd have to agree with the complicated layouts. But sadly, the layouts were designed in a way where if you were to enlarge the font size, it'll ruin the entire layout (most of it, it'll look really ugly with bigger sized fonts). I don't mind lengthy paragraphs, but not excessive ones. Comic sans is a big no-no in writing, I came to realize that after coming back from a long hiatus (I was young, naive and an idiot). And yes, THE COLOURS! That was a huge turn-off if one were to use too much colours in their chapters. Oh and yes, there's one thing that sort of ticks me off. The forbidden "Arial 20". I get that author's are trying to make it readable for the readers, but personally, I find it annoying to have huge font sizes right at my face everytime I try to read a story. Call me picky, but it does make the story less likeable for me. Come to think of it, I was practically describing my old stories in a whole. I hated myself back then.
