‘ 泣き虫: MARIE (tw; mentions of suicide and self harm)

CRYBABY
MARIE

 WHY IS SADNESS AN EMOTION?

Establishment Year: 2002
Size: life size; 152cm & 40kg
Face Claim: wheein of mamamoo
Backup Face Claim: chaeyoung of twice
Apperance: marie was originally part of a classic pin up doll line, styled in an old fashion manner. her hair is brown and long, curled perfectly and styled into a bun, topped off with a pink bow. she wears a striped pencil dress, the base color white, and the stripes going across are black, coral pink, and light, thin strips of a pastel green. to complete the look are a pair of white pumps with an ankle strap, to keep them attatched to her feet. marie also has a light dust of freckles on her nose and cheeks, which are barely visable to the eye unless you look closely.

being a life size doll meant she had to be as realistic as possible. her creator made sure her arms and legs could move with ease, and gave her a good proportioned body: slim legs, a slightly curvy but petite figure, and an average length torso. her skin is pale, as most dolls are, and her eyes are brown. her facial features are quite small, from to her nose, and her almond shaped eyes, but even if they're tiny, they're also softly placed on her face, which makes up for it as it's aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

Personality: curious, anxious, submissive, pessimistic, passive aggressive, procrastinator, patient, independent, observant, selfless, kind, soft spoken, courteous.
Relationships: iris (fc: emeraude toubia) - iris is a doll that's been there longer than marie, a birthday present brat recieved for her 4th birthday. iris is now long forgotten and is played with no more, so she takes up a space in the corner of brat's shelf. iris is marie's only friend, who guides her through the rough life of being brat's doll. marie's past owner put her through a diffucult time and caused her to pick up some bad habits, and iris is there to help marie when she finds her next to a sharp object, picks her up off her feet and cleans her up. it's a shame they can only be together when nobody is around, because marie feels safe in iris's embrace. iris is the person marie trusts the most, and in a way, iris is like a mother to her.

Love Interest: callisto (fc: mark tuan) - callisto used to be bastard's doll when he was brat's age, and before bastard threw the doll away and brat decided to keep him for herself, bastard did a number on him. callisto has numerous scars on him where bastard would cut him with a pocket knife, and some of his jet black hair has been chopped off in various places, making it very uneven, and in result, callisto has a very low self esteem. he's very depressed, unhappy, and overall, broken. you can often catch him putting himself down and insulting himself, and the other dolls try to help him as much as they can, but he never takes their words to heart. callisto just needs a lot of care and love, then maybe he'll learn to love himself.
Current Status: both care for each other a lot. marie self harms herself physically, and callisto self harms mentally. they're both in a dark place and often lean on each other as they're going through similar situations. when iris isn't around, callisto is marie's go to person to go talk to and spill her secrets to. marie is the only person callisto has let in his life, and he wishes she'll never leave him. she promised she won't.
Their Story: when marie first became brat's doll, she didn't know what to expect. she didn't immediately catch callisto's eye, in fact, she almost never did. it was a few weeks after she came, late at night. iris was busy talking to another doll, and marie had snuck down to the kitchen. callisto was the only one who seemed to notice, and he followed her, witnessing her press the sharp knife to her wrist. he stepped out and surprised her, gently took the knife from her hand and threw it away. then he took her hand and led her back to brat's room. ever since that night, the two have gotten to know each other, told their stories, and vowed to help one another. marie works on callisto's self worth, complimenting him whenever she can, and always gives him speeches about why he's perfect, why she thinks he's amazing. callisto always tells her that whenever she feels like hurting herself, she can come to him, talk to him. whenever he sees a new scar that wasn't there before, he looks at her with sadness, and scolds her. their entire journey together is them helping each other out of the gloomy stage they're going through. iris thinks it's beautiful, and she often gives them both advice on how to help the other. she hopes they can cure each other, she believes it can happen.
Ending: the end of the long ride they've been on is long from over, but marie is glad to say that callisto has definitely improved. he no longer insults himself, and his self esteem has obviously gotten better; all of the dolls have noticed. callisto is also very proud of marie, as her self harming habits have died down. she doesn't cut as often anymore, and callisto has managed to get her more used to just pinching herself. he hopes to get her to stop altogether. these two have are just what they needed in their lives. they wouldn't really say they devolped feelings for each other, but queerplatonic would be the better word. they care immensely for each other, and definitely have a deeper relationship than just friends. they never want to lose each other, and the other dolls will make sure that never happens.

The Struggle: in the very beginning, marie was what people would call normal. it wasn't until she was bought that things started going wrong. she was given to a little girl who was sick. mentally ill would be the better word. the girl was on medication, had anxiety, and depression. as said girl got older, she began to self harm, sneaking razors in her room and taking out the blade. the girl had panic attacks almost every day, crying in her bed and shaking. marie was originally bought and given to the girl to try and help her, comfort her, was told to hold marie in her arms whenever she felt sad. marie was supposed to be a coping mechanism, but it didn't work. marie watched as the girl attempted suicide. the first time failed, but unfortunately the second time was successful. marie watched this poor teenage girl grow up and die, literally. once the girl passed away, marie was sold. this behavior was all marie knew. she thought it was the right thing, and so she started following in her previous owner's footsteps. she started self harming herself, the faint marks on her getting blamed on bastard. and eventually, marie got so used to it that it became her daily routine. she saw absolutely nothing wrong with it.
Their Thoughts During: marie oftens wonders if this is what happiness really is. the girl who used to own her seems so.... sad, but it was all she had ever known, and eventually she was convinced that this was how you were supposed to be "happy." she wonders if she's "ed up," that was a term she'd heard bastard say a lot. before she got callisto's help, there were certain times where she considered stopping, but it was hard. cutting was something she had gotten so used to... she wasn't sure she could live without it. there were other times where marie thought there was a possibility that it wasn't normal. mister and miss don't do it, and neither do brat and bastard. at least, they don't hurt themselves the way she does. eventually marie gives up, and comes to the conclusion that this is normal, this is who she is. for a long while, she thought she would never change.
The Outcome: basically already explained in the love interest section, with the addition that in the end callisto does help her stop completely, and she returns the favor by boosting his self esteem as much as she can. they both care about each other too much to see the other suffer.
