appearance » Byul has long chocolate brown, straight hair that reaches more than half of her back. She usually wears it in a bun or a braid. She rarely leaves her hair loose. Her eyes are light brown, in the sun they look honey colored. She has a dimple on her left cheek and a mole in the shape of a star in her upper right shoulder. Which is part of the reason why they named her Byul, which means star in Korean. She's of avarage height, 169cm, and weighs 56kg.

the girl next door.

plotline » The Ulsan Delegate

personality »
positive - determined, candid, caring, intelligent, loyal
neutral - perfectionist, competitive, cunning
negative - proud, stubborn, impulsive, sarcastic, reserved

To start off, Byul used to be very naive and spoiled when she was young, not really taking into consideration others or the situation around her. Being born into privilege was something that she thought could overpower any adversity that was thrown at her. However, she was wrong. After the incident with her father, her eyes opened and she finally understood what her parents meant when they told her that with privilege comes duty and responsibility. She because more independent, realitic and practical. Byul being born into a high society family, had already developed a stubborn, strong-willed personality in which she always did her best in everything, wanting to have as much knowledge as possible. This was mostly influenced by family, mother who taught her how to behave at court with cleverness and wit, as much as politeness and ladylike bahaviour. Her father who taught her how to defend herself in both combat and with nature, knowing which plants, flowers or fruits could heal and which could kill. And her older brother, who was a scholar, cultivated in her a love for books and knowledge.

Byul may have the manners of a court lady but she can be, as her close friends know, a witty smart a** that can be quite the sarcastic firecracker and when angry, her words can be as sharp as daggers. She's candid about mostly everything, says things straight fowardly and frank. She's clever, knowing how to talk herself out of unpredictable, uncomfortable or unfavorable situations. However, she can be impulsive sometimes, her feelings running away with her, especially when something unjust occurs, and acts up before her brain says no. She's very competitive, not that she likes to see others lose or that she hates seeing other win, is just that she doesn't want to let herself down and doesn't like to lose.

Even though Byul seems like a cold serious person, she's actually very caring towards her loved ones. Still, she's reserved and doesn't open up to others easily for fear of getting hurt. She's a skeptic, not believing or being led by others easily. Doesn't really trust someone she doesn't know. She can be distant when she isn't cose to someone. However, once you gain her trust she's extremely loyal and trustworthy towards you. She's surprisingly a very talkative and nagging person, especially towards her closest friends, making sure they stay out of trouble and don't do anything stupid. She can be very hard on herself, expecting perfection each time she does something. She's also quite proud, making it hard for her to express her feelings, which will present itself to be a problem when she falls in love with someone.

background »

Byul was born into high class society. Being the second child and first daughter of the famous Court Lady, Taehee and General, Byung Hun. Byul was born just as things were beginning to look grim for the Kingdom of Ulsan. She spent most of her time with tutors and attendants in the mansion, therefore she rarely interacted with children her age. Her mother didn't want her or her brother to be involved with politics, but they innevitably were. Her older brother entered the University, and threats were made every single day. Her mother had brought peace towards a land that was at the brink of civil war. Taehee was well versed in the political dance between the people of Ulsan and the nobles. Still, there was trouble brewing from each side. Byul was taught many things, from her father she learned how to ride horses and how to defend herself using physical strenght or surviving in nature. From her mother she learned how to be ladylike, clever, firm as well as helping those who are need most. Lastly, from her older brother she would always come to appretiate knowledge and books.

Byul was mostly a well behaved child, however when she was 15 she started rebelling a bit. Wanting to get away from her attendants and tutors, while having the same freedom that her brother had. However, it wasn't so. People already expected certain things from her, and she was supposed to act as they expected her to. All in all, she started sneaking out. First, to the library at her brothers University. Afterwards, to the market and so on. Never knowing that she was being watched. One of her attendants, a girl named Jinhee, that grew up with her and attended her since they were children, asked her to go out to town with her. Byul agreed, not knowing that a riot would take place that day. Her father would be in charge of maintaing order and peace. Byul and Jinhee arrived at town, they somehow got seperated. People were pushing, screaming. Someone suddenly yelled fire. Byul looked towards the distance and with horror saw that the University was on fire. She was shoved to the ground, only to be pulled up by her father, who gave her a stern look. He walked with her through the crowd, however suddenly Jinhee came running up to them, Byul sighed in relief but then Jinhee cried "There is the General!" Suddenly they were cornered by a group of people dressed in black clothes with only an orange lily symbol sewed on their shoulder. Her father yelled at her to run, but they were surrounded. One of them had slanted eyes, but looked like a boy. He was frozen on the spot. Her father managed to kill most of them, but then one lunged at her and got her father instead. Jinhee ran away crying that she had no choice. Byul's father died in her arms that night, and her brother got severly burnt in the University fire.

After that incident, three years passed and the gathering for the new Delegates was about to take place. Taehee saw this as a perfect opportunity for Byul. She along with her eldest child, Soohyun, who was one of the top Physicians, knew how each day horrors struck the kingdom, and how they needed to get Byul out. Taehee asked the King for a favor, which he granted. They did not tell Byul that it was for her safety, or else she would have never agreed. Her mother told her that it was her duty to make alliances with the other kingdoms to support the people's cause, and put a stop to the corruption, greed and horrors that the nobles were causing. Therefore, Byul agreed.

Since his father was a man of the military, Jungkook was going to follow in his footsteps, however he's had to put his dreams to a halt. Jungkook trained and did lesser mercenary work for a few years, his uncle and him barely talked but he made friends and aqcuantainces with most of the people in the underground. His first mission as a mercenary came with orders that some nobles from Ulsan had asked for them to take care of General Song. Jungkook failed the mission, his uncle ended up taking care of it. After that, Jungkook entered the military academy. He and his uncle rarely talk.

FRIENDS/RIVALS »

Best Friend | Kim Taehyung | 17 | cheerful, fun-loving, blunt | Jungkook and Tae (as Jungkook calls him), have been friends since they were 5 years old. There fathers were close. And whenever Jungkook's father went to Daegu, he would leave Jungkook in Tae's house. They're like brothers. When Jungkook was adopted by his uncle, they saw each other less but still wrote to each other. Jungkook would never miss an opportunity to see Tae when he would have a job in Daegu. Still, after the Ulsan incident they hadn't seen each other for three years. Not until the gathering of the Delegates. Even though Tae is younger than Jungkook he's the one who takes care of him in a cheerful yet protective manner. Jungkook is very protective of Tae as well, and always looks after him. Tae noticed Jungkook's interest in Byul, and teases them at every moment he can. He's very friendly and bubbly, and very open about his feelings for Seona. The best friends are similar in that aspect, except that Jungkook when asked simply ignores the question. Tae likes to talk to Byul about Seona, and Byul thinks that they make a really cute couple. He tends to go to her for advice in how to court Seona, since asking advice to Jungkook is "utterly useless" as he says.

Friendly Rivals | Park Bogum | 19 | talkative, playful, amiable | They are polite with each other but have a rivalry, with one another. It started with competitions, Bogum and Jungkook almost always getting tied after Daehyun. Still, it bothered Bogum that he couldn't get a reaction from Jungkook, however, once he noticed that Jungkook would loose his composed demeanor when it came to Byul, he enjoyed teasing him this way. Since Byul goes to Bogum to talk about how he could help with the troubles in her country, when he sees Junkook looking their way he smirks and pretends to pick something from her hair and such. Byul is oblivious to this, but Jungkook appears by her side in a flash pulling her away, making Bogum want to some more. They sort of got close this way, but once Bogum realized that he had feelings for Byul, he became distant with Jungkook, since he noticed that Byul returned Jungkook's feelings.

APPEARANCE »
Jungkook has black short hair. He has a very distinctive mole on his neck and scars. He has a scar on his left eyebrow, a scar on his right elbow and on his lower back. He's tall for his age, height being 180cm. He's got tonned muscles, from all of the training and fighting. He's rather tanned, and his eyes are dark brown. His eyes are very expressive, and one can rarely see his smile, but he has a very contagious and bright smile.

STYLE »
Even though the color that represents his kingdom is orange, he barely uses it. Rather disliking the color a bit, although he doesn't mind that his best friends hair color is orange. Sometimes Tae jokes around that they should exchange colors, which Jungkook ignores. He simply likes dark colors that don't call too much attention. He prefers to dress in black clothing and sometimes mixing it up with dark greens, greys and blues. He tends to dress casual, and only wears traditional formal clothes for special gatherings or occasions.

PERSONALITY »
positive  - charismatic, kind, reliable, earnest, witty
neutral - calm, athletic, audacious
negative - over protective, tactless, stoic, secretive, calculative

BACKGROUND » Jungkook was born in Incheon, his mother died in childbirth and he was raised by his father. His father was a Seargent in the military. He and his uncle barely spoke, for they led very different lives. However, once Jungkook's father died in the line of duty, Jungkook was adopted by his uncle and led a mercenaries life. Since he was 12 when he entered the group, he was given easy jobs such as traveling to deliver packages, letters and such, from kingdom to kingdom. He also traded with the black markets and underground dealers. He was rarely with his uncle who had other such missions. Therefore, Jungkook was always with other members of the Fire Lily mercenary group. Jungkook was an errand boy, if you will. They trained him in many forms of martial arts, trading and ways of dissapearing and become unnoticed. After the group he was in gave him his first mission, which was to take care of General Song, evertything changed. Because of a young girls interferance he was unable to. An error which his uncle quickly remedied. Still, as his uncle dragged him and yelled at him to run, Jungkook will never forget the man who died in his daughters arms, nor the piercing eyes filled with sadness and hatred that were directed at his uncle. After that he left the mercenary group, and entered the military academy. Three years passed, and the tournament to choose the new Delagates from each kingdom was about to begin. He entered and won second place at tournament, after Choi Minho's daughter. He was chosen to become one of the Incheon Delegates. After the incident in Ulsan, he had finally realized that the kingdoms were in turmoil. Not just civil war, but war between each kingdom was brewing. So, when he heard that Tae got into the gathering as the Daegu Delegate, he knew that he needed to go as well, for there he would truly learn where his allegiance lied. He would have never imagined that there he would find the daughter of General Song, and even less that he would fall in love with her.

LOVE STORY »

"Meeting you was fate, becoming your friend was a choice, but falling in love with you was beyond my control."

The Delegates arrived at the Gathering mansion in Jeju Island. Jungkook and Eunbyul had not seen each other when the ships arrived at the dock. Eunbyul had kept close to Bogum, since she barely knew anyone else. Each Delegate was announced from each kingdom. Jungkook was talking with Choi Minho's daughter, when the Delegates from Ulsan were announced, when Jungkook heard Byul's name his head shot up in attention. Searching for the girl. He saw a young woman dressed in a white hanbok, and he knew, that was the girl he had seen in Ulsan. His face paled and Choi Minho's daughter asked if he was okay. He didn't hear her, he just kept looking at the young girl.

As Byul was walking down the platform, she noticed a very handsome guy staring at her deeply. She was confused because his eyes would not waver from her, but it somehow looked like he was scared. She got distracted when the Princess of Cheonjiwang came up to greet her. She looked back where the guy was and she didn't see him. After that night, Jungkook avoided her as much as he could, while still keeping an eye out for her. Tae quickly noticed how his friend was taking a particular interest in Byul. He tried asking Jungkook about it, but Jungkook simply avoided the question or ignored his remarks. Byul eventually misunderstood Jungkook, and took his attitude towards her as arrogance and contempt. So, the sort of "butterflies in her stomach" feeling that she had for him when she first saw him, she put a lid on that. But for some reason or another, they would eventually bump into one another, and it didn't help that Tae and Seona got it into their heads that the both of them liked each other. Because they both rarely talked but with each other they would bicker and their eyes would follow one another.

Eventually, without them knowing they started hanging out together, especially after the swimming incident. Byul was taking one of her long walks, she sat at the dock, she took off her bracelet. Quickly getting homesick. A gush of wind suddenly blew, and one of the tree branches fell, startling her. She dropped the bracelet into the water, and tried to reach for it, searching for it. She slipped and fell into the water. Jungkook was swimming close by, he saw the whole incident, and swam after her. Byul woke up in the shore coughing and spitting out water. Jungkook hovering over her, wet hair drapped over his worried eyes. He kept asking if she was okay, and her hair. She got up suddenly, remembering the bracelet. Jungkook smiled, that was the first time she had ever seen him smile, took her hand and placed the bracelet in them. Stating that she should really learn how to swim, and that he could teach her. After that, they became close friends. Jungkook had already fallen in love, but Byul was just starting.

(In the scene requests there are some events that happen as their relationship develops, however, the rest I leave in your capable hands. Unless you would like me to talk more about their relationship and how I think it would develop, then I can write more about them.)

scene requests »

- Byul and Jungkook having a "date night" which they did not know about, that was actually set up by Tae with the help of Seona.

- Byul finding out that Jungkook's uncle was the one to kill her father, right after Jungkook finally confessed to her. Park Bo Gum was the one to tell her about it. He didn't do it out of spite, but because he liked her too and he thought that she should know. However, it was a really bad move on his part. He then felt bad for it and made up for it, by helping her get to were Jungkook was going, after the gathering was over.

- After becoming very upset, but having an honest talk with Seona. And Seona getting angry at her for the first time, that Byul had a right to get angry and sad but that if in her heart she still loved Jungkook that she should just follow her heart for once in her life. Then, Byul with the help of Bogum ran after Jungkook and accepted Jungkook into her life, finally telling him that she loves him back.
- A cherry blossom festival would be cute! Couple games can happen or cute incidents.
- If civil war ever broke out in Ulsan, Taehee would send word to Byul that she should not go to Ulsan. Jungkook then would talk to Tae and the three of them would go to Daegu. Since they had already learned that Tae was actually the real heir to the throne of Daegu, Byul would ask for help in order for him to help the people, and overthrowing the greedy nobles from Ulsan, before war broke out in other countries as well.
