personality.

Lee Seongmi is a highly intelligent girl. This has caused a few troubles for her in the past but overall, it's something that she really appreciates. It makes it easier for her to indulge in her interests and it means she doesn't really have to study a topic for class and can use the time to do something else, something Seongmi actually enjoys. She's doesn't like to brag about her intelligence though so chances are she'll downplay it until she knows the persons she's around. She would rather not be a know-it-all because the word doesn't really ring good to her.

Combined with an intelligent mind is also a curious side that lets Seongmi explore the topics of the world. Right now, though, she has her mind set on Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire and this is a field of interest that has stayed with her for a long time. She's always up for new information though and if she knows you well enough, it's not hard to get her on an adventure - as long as said adventure promises new knowledge, she'll be on it.

It's no wonder that Seongmi is booksmart. She is, however, not only that. Some (her older sister) might say she's tone-deaf but that doesn't mean Seongmi isn't creative. Her creativity just shows itself in interior design and words rather than in music and art. Seongmi doesn' really write herself though, she's too busy reading to bother - and the only one that makes good use of her interior design skills is her mother.

Above all, though, Seongmi is a helpful and genuine person. She's kind and willing to help anyone who are in trouble and she's even willing to share some of her own notes for class, to those who don't actively call her evil nicknames. Despite her past, Seongmi believes that being helpful will get her far in life - and after all, she can leave all those s who don't appreciate the art of literature behind when she leaves for college. It can result in people thinking she's easy to misuse and Seongmi can't really deny that someone may have used her in the past.

Seongmi is shy though and she won't open up as quickly as others. She has learned that people don't appreciate her enthusiasm when it comes to certain subjects, so she hides it. If you ask directly, you will get an honest answer though. She just won't blurt it out to the world.

Her organized side is sometimes a little bit of a nuisance. Everything has to be organized her way, even her books are colorcoded and you'll rarely find something out of place. It does come in handy when you're looking for something though - and Seongmi always knows where everything is. Mess up her order though and you'll get a mad Seongmi.

Knowing the pain of being alone, Seongmi stays extremely loyal to those she bonds with, be it friends or lovers. Although she hasn't had many friends and is quite inexperienced in love, she'll stand up for those close to her - always. And being polyamorous doesn't change her loyalty - if anything, it makes it stronger.

But Seongmi isn't all shy goodness. First of all she's so incredibly insecure due to the bullying she has experienced that she doesn't believe in herself at all. She'll most likely be able to transform anything you say into something that goes against her and even the smallest amount of interest will most likely have her shying away in fear of getting mocked and bullied even more. Most of her insecurity lie with her body and Seongmi isn't afraid of eating a lot, in the hopes of gaining a little weight. If only people weren't there to judge her eating .......

Her insecurity is the biggest reason she's so alone, but her tendency to overindulge isn't making things easier for her. Now, the thing she overindulges these days are Homer (for like the fifth time) but there will come a time where books aren't the only way to ease pain and Seongmi is vulnerable to overindulging so many other things. It's pure luck she has buried herself in books. If she doesnt control it, Seongmi will be prone to spending too many money on whatever and probably end in debt.

Seongmi is stubborn, also more than most. It'll be hard to change her mind one she sets it on something and the fight isn't worth it most of the times. But being stuck in the same decisions isn't making life easier and not being able to adapt as quickly as the rest of her peers is giving her some serious challenges in high school. Seongmi does't really know how to wok on her stubbornness though - or maybe she's just too stubborn to acknowledge that her stubornness is a problem of hers.

The worst thing about Seongmi's personality though, is her critical side. Seongmi is critical of everything. She looks at everything you do and you can be sure she'll find a way to criticize it. It isn't always in pure evil that she's critical, sometimes she genuinely believes that critique will help you but finding mistakes in everyone makes her difficult to like at first glance and will annoy most people until they get to know her. Most of the time she'll criticize you in her head, still too shy to actually say it out loud. But you can be 100 % sure that she has, at least, criticized you once.

background. Seongmi was born in a family in Daegu. She has 3 older siblings, a brother and two sisters. Her father works as a professor in History and her mother is a professor in Philosophy. The two share a passion for Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire and they have given the interest to all four of their children.

Already from an early age was she told stories about the old Greeks and she, of course, developed a fascination with the time period as well. Her siblings, being older than her, slowly grew from the interest and instead found other literary genres and interests.

Seongmi had a few friends in kindergarten, who followed her until 3rd grade. Then they started havng interests such as soccer and dolls and Seongmi stuck to her books. Seongmi had excellent grades and a few of her classmates found it so annoying that they started calling her teacher's pet. That was the beginning of Seongmi's school life hell.

In 4th grade Seongmi told her parents she wanted to learn Greek and they were both looking at her with confusion. Her oldest sister on the other hand was thrilled at the idea of her baby sister learning another language and the two of them started to learn Greek together. The two of them had a lot of fun learning, and Seongmi wasn't really challenged in school academically.

Her social life, on the other hand, had changed dramatically. Where she earlier had actually had friends, her classmates were now targeting her with rude words and if they couldn't say anythig new about her good grades, they would attack her body. Seongmi didn't mention it for her parents though they noticed she was studying and reading a lot more than before. Her brother tried to coax her into spilling why but she remained silent on the subject.

It did cause a lot of insecurity on her part though and she buried herself more and more into Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire. The older she grew, the more hateful the remarks sent her way became. Her good grades were shot down with 'she sleeps with the teacher' or 'her parents pay for her grades' and words like 'you look like walking death' and 'it's pathetic she's starving herself, as if guys would want her' was sent her way during lunch.

Everything went wrong when she, as a 14 year old, had her first crush on a girl and said girl found out. As if it wasn't enough that they were bullying her with her odd interest and her body, they quickly found new ways to hurt her by prodding at her uality as well.

Seongmi broke down in front of her parents when she was 15, unable to stand the verbal bullying that had turned into light physical shoves as well. They couldn't transfer her to another school though, but they did their best in talking to teachers and trying to make it stop. It didn't work.

Seongmi learnt how to ignore the words. Sure, they still hurt but without giving them any attention she was able to shut it out. She indulged in literature and started researching everything, studying Greek even more intensely than she had before - and started reading crime fiction and imagined her classmates as the murder cases. It gave a weird satisfaction. And then her father noticed the book camp and told Seongmi to go. A year left in high school and she was free - and maybe if she could find new friends, it wouldn't be too horrible to endure.

relationships.

Jung Taesoo / Camp counsellor / 25 / sassy, confident, blunt, easy to talk to / Seongmi doesn't talk a lot with Taesoo. In fact, she prefers to sit with her books. She does participate in activities she finds interesting but talking to people and especially Taesoo is kind of intimidating, because 1) he's older and 2) he might judge her for her love of ... well, history. He does remind her a little bit of her older brother though and that makes him seem just a little bit more comfortable to be around.

Kwon Minhoon / Aquaintances / 17 / Seongmi doesn't really interact with Minhoon if she can get away with it. His snarky remaks remind her of the verbal hell school is and she would honestly love to teach him a lesson or two. Except she's too shy and too insecure so instead she curses him out in her mind and scowls whenever she sees him. Hopefully it's enough for him to leave her alone.

*In fact, if she could just stay in Italy or Greece and study the Roman Empire and Acient Greece for the rest of her life she would gladly abandon Korea.

* If she can't study Ancient Greece and The Roman Empire she wants to study linguistics in college.

* Seongmi doesn't care for her grades, though they're usually really good.

* She usually does everything herself because everything has to be done her way to be done the right way. This basically includes everything you want her to do.

* Seongmi doesn't trust easily.

* She sometimes acts superior but it's only because she tries to distance herself a little.

* Seongmi is nicest to elder people but if you get to know her, you'll find she's pretty genuine in all she does.

hi there! please introduce yourself. Hello... [makes a small awkward wave] I'm Lee Seongmi... [looks around to see if she forgot anything] I'm 17??

why are you joining the camp. My ... uhm ... My dad really thinks I need friends and he ... uh ... he thought ... [puts hair behind ear] he thought that I could find some friends who ... uh ... love-reading-as-much-as-i-do. [small smile] Yeah ...

what's your favourite book/series. I really like reading ancient Greek literature, I mean, have you read Homer?! It's perfection, I swear, it's like the thing the world really needed without really knowing, but God, I'm so happy they're translated into Korean, so I can read them over and over. But then there's Sophocles and Euripides and I mean, did you read it? Pure masterpieces! [realizes how enthusiastic she sounds and sinks back in the chair] Sorry, I ... I guess you don't really care. [sends interviewer a shy smile] I guess, I read crime fiction as well?? That sounds less nerdy, please don't write down that I read ancient Greek, please. Everybody is going to mock me... Just - stick to crime fiction...

why is it your favourite. [very aware of last answer] I ... uh ... interests? I suppose ... For the crime fiction, I mean!

is there a specific couple you ship. No. [sends interviewer a smile that hides the true answer. Interviewer lifts an eyebrow.] Really, there's none!

are you looking for love. Not really. I was just hoping to read a lot and meet some new friends... perhaps... (she's totally looking for love, she's just not aware of it, poor baby.)

what is your ual orientation. I'm pretty sure I'm polyual leaning towards females, but at the same time ... I mean ... cute people are amazing?? I'm polyamorous as well if it ... I don't know, changes anything?

what do you look for in a person/ideal type. Brains! I mean ... Nevermind ... I think respect?? Someone who understands me... [pause] I'm so bad a this. I'm so sorry... I don't know what to say... Sorry...

what sort of relationship do you want/like. A polyamorous one? I like cute people and I ... I mean, two or more cute people are better than one cute people, right? Ergh.. Or no? [bites lower lip in thought] But also a respectful one.. A fun relationship ... If that's what you're looking for??

questions. ...
last comments. some of her dislikes can be changed as she learns more e.g. mainstream literature. sometimes people dislikes things because they don't know enough about them - seongmi is no exception.

i just wanted a cute lil poly nerd so that's what you're getting~ cute people are totes her thing, no matter gender, even if she thinks she's leaning towards females more than males. all cute people are loved.

scene suggestions. someone tries to get away with a "nickname"?
someone unexpectedly stands up for her?
she suddenly just gets enough and snaps?
she reads in a cute white maxi-dress under a large tree and it looks all philosophical and someone approaches her and it turns out that she's reading fifty shades of grey or smth just to try "why people reads mainstream literature" and she judges it so hard in her mind but at the same time she kinda likes that, but ssh, that's secret.
