Rehab's Inspiring Water Faerie, Hwang Eunmi (Warning: few small gifs of drowning, just in case, ya'know)

appearance

Eunmi is a black-haired young woman. Her eyes are naturally a medium aquamarine like her individual territory color, but when she walks around the streets of Seoul, she wears brown contact lenses to cover up her non-human identity. Her s are relatively large compared to the average human Asian woman (a 38C).

She has a few gills hidden behind her ear but they're covered with hair so no one ever sees. The gills make sure that water fairies can dive and stay in water without turning into water (a very useful trait when for example swimming with human friends).

No water fairy have wings as they're highly useless in water, especially with their powers to manipulate and turn into water. If one looks very closely, they'll notice that the skin between her fingers are a little longer than the average human being, but it's only a few milimeters. This is an old physical feature that nature and evolution has yet to completely remove from the water fairies and it serves no purpose whatsoever.

fashion

Eunmi's everyday-fashion is very business-like. With her job as a secretary for a huge law firm, she usually presents herself in very refined clothing when outside of her apartment. She usually wears earthy colors and any color of water is present in her outfits, be it an accessory or a piece of clothing. Eunmi doesn't wear bright colored clothes.

Eunmi tries to appear as grown-up and adult as possible in her clothing and she dislikes anything that makes her seem a little too young. She doesn't want to be doted on in a busy city like Seoul and she doesn't want to dote on other people either.

personality

traits:

negative: independent, domineering, impatient, self-centered
neutral: confident, determined
positive: opinionated, couragous, energetic, optimistic

Hwang Eunmi is not your typical water fairy. In fact she strays a lot from the very domestic qualities usually found in water fairies. She is nothing like that. Instead she is headstrong and very ready to fight for what she wants. Some may tell you she's a born leader but that is not entirely the truth. She does have some qualities though which makes her able to be a relatively great leader.

The worst thing about Eunmi is the domineering and self-centered aspect of her personality which, oftentimes, makes her hard to like. Eunmi doesn't work to get respect, she demands it in orders and if you don't follow her, you're not in. She doesn't have much tolerance for rebels in Rehab and if she deems you a betrayer, she'll personally chop off your head with no regrets. You either follow or you leave. Being so self-centered as she is, she is also very hard to negotiate with. If it doesn't favor her, then you need some serious arguments to get her to even consider your proposal.

Her independence is more often than not seen in her everyday life and not when she's in her clan. Eunmi's need for independence is a struggle when you work 9 to 5 as a secretary with a schedule filled with routines. Needless to say, this frustrates her beyond end and more often than not you'll fnd her mumbling curses under her breath, damning all routines.

Impatience is a hard battle and Eunmi has yet to find a way to overcome it. This leads to huge arguments and more cursing under her breath when something is done the wrong way or takes longer than necessary. Her impatience may be the one thing that she actually knows affect her everyday life yet it's so hard to actually change and thus she leaves it there as an open bomb. No one knows when something hass taken "too long" for it to trigger her impatience, but when she does go off, it's usually with strong words and playing impatiently with water nearby (she may or may not cause accidents when impatient).

Despite her negative traits, she's also a very fun person to be around. It's rare that her domineering personality overtakes her enthusiasm and optimism. As long as she receives the amount of respect she sees fit, she will grant humans and supernatural creatures with energy and optimism. Eunmi tries to see the positive in things most of the time, though it can be hard sometimes. Her energy is usually translated further into courage and Eunmi is not one to wait for an opportunity to arise if said opportunity can gain her in any way. She doesn't sit around and wait for people to come to her and she has, earlier on, moved just on the border to trouble, just because she wanted to scout for her clan.

Eunmi is also very opinionated and while this might seem like a bad trait, it is not. It is not because this means you can have an extremely interesting conversation with her just about anything as long as you don't drag out explanations or become rude and thus triggers her more negative traits. Don't try to corner her in an argument either, it will not end well as it will remove all freedom and feel like it's restraining her independence. Anyone can always suggest something to be made differently but if it doesn't fit Eunmi, it won't happen anyway. She listens, but it's not always she reacts on it. (She may or may not sometimes be in an argument solely for arguing, not for really wanting to change anything about herself.)

A confident woman who bears herself with grace on the streets is also often inspiring to other people. To humans, Eunmi is inspiring because of her determination in her work field and to some maybe even inspiring because of her looks. To the young water fairies at home, Eunmi is an inspiration for already having had two somewhat established clans and for constantly being able to move further and further than the normal water fairy. She overheard a child talk in mumbled Aeqic to an elderly woman about the "water fairy who became a leader" and couldn't help the boost of confidence that came with it.

background

The differences between water fairies and merpeople are many and one of these includes the place one is born. While merpeople only live in the ocean, water fairies are born in lakes, waterfalls and rivers. Only very few water fairy clans are born in the ocean, mainly because most of them are killed by the merpeople before they get on land. Water fairies are - unlike merpeople - most comfortable on land near water, but not under water. It is necessary though, for water fairies, to be under water in order to develop and hone their powers. Most of this happens when the water fairy child is newborn to ensure the baby learns as much as possible. Where merpeople families often consist of many, water fairies usually only get one child.

Another distinctive difference between merpeople and water fairies is the fact that merpeople are half-fish, half-human while water fairies look entirely human save for their water-colored eyes. While both are able to stay in water for a long period of time, water fairies prefer to become water while doing so - something merpeople cannot do.

Both species can control water however yet again, water fairies usually stay close to rivers, lakes and waterfall while merpeople only stay in the ocean which makes their powers slightly different. Merpeople usually uses their power to force the ocean to swallow or hurt the humans while water fairies use their powers to protect the water and the treasures it holds.

Not many water fairies kill humans intentionally but of course it does happen. Not all water fairies are good either and although they've been living in civilation alongside humans for a long time, some water fairies still believe that they should be the stronger species compared to the weak humans.

Should humans get too close to treasures in e.g. a river, the water fairies will flood the surrounding area by making sure the river floods and most won't go easy on the surrounding areas in such a case.

Most water fairies stay together in the water fairy clans they're born into as they each have their own specific language. Linguistics say it's only dialects of the same old language but whatever it is, water fairies from different clans do not understand each other if speaking in their mothertongue.

                                       (Cheonjeyeon Waterfalls)

Eunmi was born in the waterfall of Cheonjeyeon, located on Jeju-do a lovely day in spring. As the water fairy she is, she was living her first two years under water, learning how to control and become water. Her given name was Euphemia, a name only her parents still call her. Her Korean name, Hwang Eunmi, was given to her when she began elementary school in a city close to the waterfall.

Her parents live in a cabin close to the waterfall as her mother works together with a few other women in protecting their treasures and living close makes it easier for her to get to the waterfall quickly. Eunmi's father works in the city nearby as a Biology teacher in the middle school, specialty in limnology (the study of the physical and biological conditions of freshwater, particularly of lakes and ponds). Their family never suffered from any tragedies and Eunmi has a great relationship with both her parents.

When Eunmi was 15, she and a friend of hers decided to move to Seoul for a high school and a new experience. Eunmi fought a lot with her parents but was allowed to go - and although there were other supernatural beings on Jeju Island, Seoul was a whole other level. She and her best friend naturally established a new clan at the age of 18, although no one at home knew of it. They gathered a few followers but had to split up when Eunmi almost accidentally drowned a human boy in a fit of rage and frustration. He didn't die and thus the members of the clan didn't dub it as betrayal, which saved Eunmi from Punishment. It did break up their clan though and Eunmi was once again in Seoul without a clan.

Earlier before the incident, Eunmi had had another accident involving another human boy on vacation on Jeju-do. The boy, whom Eunmi tried to drown when she was a child, didn't die in the accident. Luckily (or unluckily) for him, when he met a vampire, he was turned, not killed.

When Eunmi, for the first time, ran into the SHINee clan in Seoul by accident she was 21 and she recognized the boy instantly. Kibum thankfully didn't recognize her. Eunmi does fear that he will eventually remember and kill her for bringing such misfortune over him when he was a child, which, in all fairness, is only acceptable. Therefore, she stays away from them as much as possible.

Eunmi created Rehab when she met The Mother who were in severe Bloodlust pain and let her feed off of her. Eunmi never asked for the leader-role as it was only natural that she was the leader since she was the one to start the clan. With former experience, getting Rehab running and finding the other members was relatively easy compared to the earlier clan which for a long time had only consisted of Eunmi and her friends. She never tells anyone about the earlier clan though and none of the members knows of her accidental almost-drownings of humans.

Youra bringing Taemin home was therefore the worst idea ever in Eunmi's mind and had it not been because the vampires of SHINee are extremely good at catching onto something she would probably have thrown both the vampire and the mage out and killed them without other reason than that she didn't want to get involved with SHINee. Now, however, she is forced to meet her past once again, lying despite remembering the truth oh so well.

current life

25 year old Eunmi has been living in Seoul ever since she was 15. She now resides in a 2 bedroom apartment in their territory  when she's not in the shared house with her clan while she works her 9 to 5 secretary job at the law firm. She doesn't necessarily like her job but she never got to finish her college degree in law so for now this is the best she can do. She wants to finish though, of course she does, it just takes a little too much money and Eunmi doesn't want to spend her well-earned money on school. Not now.

She has a huge aquarium in her living room which takes up an entire wall. This is filled with freshwater fish and her freshwater bull shark, Charlize, whom Eunmi nurses like it's her daughter. Charlize, being a bull shark, is relatively hostile and aggresive but for the water fairy it is no trouble. It does shock visitors of hers though whenever they arrive to her place.

To make room for the huge aquarium she doesn't have a lot of things in her living room. The second bedroom has become some sort of mini-living room instead. But Eunmi wants it to be this way and she would probably never give up her aquarium.

family

Mother | Liliana (Kim Jeongae) (FC: Lee Mi Sook ) | 54 years old | Nurturing, loyal, moody, strong | Eunmi and her mother have a great relationship despite Eunmi not being home very often. They mainly only interact when Eunmi is at home for a visit or over the phone.

Father | Eitri (Hwang Sanghyeok) (FC: Ahn Suk Hwan) | 58 years old | Loving, pessimistic, sympathetic, protective | Eunmi and her father have a great relationship despite Eunmi not being home very often. They mainly only interact when Eunmi is at home for a visit or over the phone.

friends

Best friend (water fairy) | Cho Mina (FC: Park Miyeon) | 26 years old | Free-spirited, outgoing, spontaneous, unpredictable | Eunmi and Mina was both born at the Cheonyejeon Waterfall and grew up together. The two girls found each other and it was the two of them who left for Seoul together at the age of 15/16. The two girls started the first clan together but after Eunmi's near-drowning accident, they decided to just meet-up as friends and not do business together. This is also the reason Mina is not a part of Rehab.

Friend (water fairy) | Lee Juri (FC: 4Minute Gayoon) | 24 years old | Charismatic, proud, responsible, bossy | Juri and Eunmi met in Seoul and are from two different water fairy clans. They work well together when they're looking for fun, but in terms of business, Juri's bossy personality and Eunmi's self-centered and demanding personality clash. This is the reason Juri is not a part of Rehab.

Friend (human) | Jun Seongmi (FC: Ailee) | 25 years old | Focused, realistic, calm, stubborn | Seongmi and Eunmi met during high school and stuck together ever since. Seongmi is serious about her life but she enjoys going out for coffee's and relaxed dinner-dates. Seongmi doesn't know that Eunmi is a water fairy, but may have suspected something off once or twice. Seongmi doesn't investigate any longer, not really caring.

Friend (human) | Uhm Jaejin (FC: MYNAME Insoo) | 27 years old | Imaginative, adaptable, charming, indecisive | Eunmi and Jaejin met in college before Eunji dropped out and instantly hit it off. Jaejin majored in culinary arts and opened his own café 2 years ago and Eunmi often visits to just talk. Jaejin caught Eunmi playing with the water in the fountain by the door, thus Eunmi had to reveal her non-human identity.

other

Boss | Kim Minhyuk (FC: Hyunbin) | 39 | Workaholic, strict, demanding | He usually orders Eunmi around and Eunmi curses his under her breath everytime he passes her desk.

love interest: Lee Jinki
backup: Kim Kibum

birthday + age: December 14th 1989 - 26 years old.
birthplace + hometown: Gyeongju, South Korea
height + weight: 5'9'' - 135 lbs

occupation: nurse at the general practitioner

language Korean (mothertongue), Japanese (advanced), Chinese (conversational), English (basic)

Jinki learned Japanese when he was still in middle school and continued this afterwards. He also interacted with a few vampire clans in Japan so his Japanese was needed.
His Chinese is a result of a wrong course in college but despite that, still very useful if he happens to meet Chinese vampires.
Jinki took up English after a vacation nearly went wrong because of his lacking English skills. He's only able to converse sparsely but it has saved him (and foreign vampires in Seoul) more than once.

nicknames (Onew | The clan)

personality traits

negative: hides true feelings, private, careless, clumsy
neutral: straightforward
positive: calm, responsible, adventurous, humble

personality
Jinki is a very private vampire, who won't let you in on anything, let alone his true feelings. He'll appear friendly to the human public, not even showing his non-human descent, but even to his clan, he'll fake his feelings. Jinki does this because he doesn't want anyone to know him. He fears that the Gumiho who tricked him when he was younger was able to do so because she knew of his feelings. Jinki afterwards never showed any sincerity in any deep feeling and his words sound more hollow than anything when he tries to describe feelings.

And while he is very private he's also relatively careless. This might seem to contradict him being responsible but it's not really that contradicting. It's only because Lee Jinki doesn't really care what happens to himself, yet he cares a lot about his clan members, even if he doesn't say it. So he is responsible when it comes to the clan and he takes great care of all 4 members of it, the best he can, but was he to be killed himself, he would probably not even fight back. He has faith in his clan members to carry on without him.

His carelessness often results in clumsiness. Oftentimes it's small things which is never going to hurt anyone like falling on a chair or tripping on air but it happens once in a while that Jinki stumbles and nearly falls into another clan's territory.

Despite all his secrets, Jinki is a vampire that adores new things. His need for adventure is what initially brought him in trouble but it's also what brought him to Seoul and lead to him establilshing the SHINee clan. Jinki likes to learn new things and he doesn't mind talking to strangers (most often foreign vampires but humans also once in awhile) and have them tell him about all the adventures that lies just beyond the border of Seoul. Getting out of Seoul and leaving all responsibility behind intentionally is not something Jinki would ever do to his clan right now though.

Jinki has a weird way with words which make them oddly endearing. While he's absurdly humble, especially for a vampire, he's also incredibly straightforward. This leads to a combination of sentences that sometimes seem awkward or maybe even funny without the intention of being funny. No doubt though, that whatever Jinki does say, he means it 100 %.

background
Lee Jinki was born a vampire in 1989 in Gyeongju by a human mother, who was killed shortly afterwards by accident. Jinki was raised by his father and was taught the importance of feeding from a young age. Never once did his hunger repulse him either and he and his father killed often during his childhood, just to feed. As a newborn vampire, Jinki was fed blood stolen from the hospital as he was not strong enough to feed by himself. His father joined the clan Eoin when Jinki was 3 and Jinki joined the clan with him by default. The Eoins were staying in one place and soon enough, Jinki's want for adventure, for experience caught up to him.

As a teenager Jinki left the Eoins in Gyeongju on good terms to explore Korea and find other Eoins who had settled elsewhere but only a year after he left, he was caught in a vampire hunt in a small village. Scared of dying and terrifed of Punishment he wasn't one to decline the small offer a Gumiho made. This was his way out of Punishment and it also got him indebted for life.

Jinki came to Seoul when he had just turned 17 and while he fed on a human, he was caught by another vampire. The other attacked Jinki, who fled from the crimescene and instead wandered the city for days. Initially he found himself in a high school. Here he stayed for the next couple of weeks until he got hold a cellphone. A call to his father and soon enough Jinki was enrolled in the high school as a senior. Jinki finished his education and started looking around for colleges.

He got accepted into a college in Seoul and moved into a small studio apartment where he spent most of his days, hidden away. During his third year he finally opened up to the people in his major and was able to get a few friends, one of them being Kim Jonghyun.

Kim Jonghyun was a fellow vampire on college, who had been surpressing his hunger ever since his sister had been killed 1½ year prior to their meeting. Jinki warned him about the dangers but Jonghyun ignored the warnings and ended up suffering from Bloodlust.

It was at this point that Jinki decided to break free from the Eoins, whose clan he'd been a part of ever since childhood and begin his own. Jinki created SHINee and Jonghyun was the first member to get accepted. Jinki had already decided to only accept vampires as he felt alienated from other species.

For the first 5 years after his meeting with the Gumiho, Jinki faithfully returned with a human male or female of her liking each year, something he'd promised to bring her. The next 3 years he tried to find a way out of it and now he's running away, no longer wanting to be bound by an agreement he'd made years ago as a mere teenager to serve and kill for the Gumiho. Each year, a couple of weeks in August he'll disappear completely and no one, not even his clan, knows where he's going.

current life
These days Jinki lives in a large 3 bedroom apartment while he works at the general practitioner close by as a nurse. He draws blood and does other laboratory tests on patients and when he's getting hungry he's feeding enough from the patients to satisfy himself. He never kills any patient though and the doctor has yet to figure out that he's a vampire.

The members of the clan stop by his apartment regularly and he's making sure all of them are doing what they have to do, that none of them makes a lot of trouble or creates ruckus in the night. Jinki doesn't want them to be a part of the reason the Gumiho might find him and demand Punishment on him for not fulfilling his promise.

So I stayed in the darkness with you

love story
Eunmi had noticed the handsome SHINee clan member when she'd accidentally run into them but had been too focused on not getting caught by Kibum to actually do anything about it. The years afterwards had been without much thought spared towards the other.

When Youra brings back Taemin, Eunmi is suddenly standing face to face with the same handsome vampire, this time he's now introducing himself as their leader and he wants back. This, however, is only one of few troubles because rules state that any species found on another clan's territory can be dealt with whatever way the clan sees fit and Eunmi isn't exactly up for handing over the vampire. But she also knows that it won't be hard for anyone to dig up her history and her almost-murder on Kibum and that will only cause more troubles and so she decides to hand over the boy without further incident, only a small grudge brewing in her mind and a harsh curse.

The leader, however, seems grateful and when he asks her if she'll accept a dinner with him, just to make sure they're good, her self-centered personality can't really decline. It's always nice to know you're appreciated, right? So the two of them get together at Jaejin's café (purposefully chosen by Eunmi) and the atmosphere is awkward with one demanding leader and another frustratingly calm leader.

It turns out the two of them have more to talk about than either of the two could have ever imagined and they fall into easy conversation by the time they're done eating and drinking. Suddenly not wanting the night to end, Eunmi finds herself asking him to join her on a walk.

The two of them are nothing but leaders on a friendly night out and it's like that they leave each other a couple of hours later. Eunmi doesn't see Jinki until a couple of months later, when she's walking through the aquarium, greeting the animals (and especially the freshwater fish). Jinki notices her as well and waves awkwardly, only making Eunmi regret she ever acknowledged him to begin with. They spend the rest of the day together at the aquarium and when Eunmi cautiously asks him why he's even bothering, he tells her that she seemed lonely. It's all a lie but Eunmi takes it, not wanting to raise interest towards her carefully asked question.

They meet up more often as friends afterwards, Jinki telling the same lie about her seeming lonely and Eunmi not wanting to say anything in case Kibum remembers and tells Jinki. She does find herself having fun together with Jinki though. He's secretive but funny and it's after a day at the amusement park that she realizes that maybe she likes him a little too much.

When she invites him back to her apartment for the first time, Jinki gets such a shock at the sight of Charlize that he stumbles into a chair and in an attempt to steady himself almost tobbles over the aquarium. The water that is spilled is manipulated back into the aquarium and that is the first time Eunmi tells Jinki that she's a water fairy. They eat dinner in the small substitute living room and watches Jaws and when he's about to leave Eunmi spills a little water on his shoulder, surprising the other. He grins back at her and she can't help it when she gets on her toes and presses her lips to his. The night ends in her bedroom.

The morning afterwards they agree that maybe there is more between them than the friendship they had been going on for the past couple of weeks. Jinki doesn't necessarily tell her anything Eunmi feels like she can use but it's better than being friendzoned.

The two of them go out on dates, finds lakes and rivers nearby Seoul they can explore to satisfy Jinki's need for adventure and Eunmi refuses to go to the ocean everytime he mentions it because of the damn merpeople.

Their first Christmas together is celebrated in Jinki's apartment as they snuggle close to each other on his couch and lets their feelings get the best of them.

They do argue though, especially whenever a conversation hits a topic Eunmi is passionate about. Jinki, for the most part, accepts defeat because he can't be bothered to fight with her, but whenever their fights are about his unwillingness to tell Eunmi anything, he stands on his privacy. Those fights often ends in one leaving the other behind. They don't break up because of this though, but usually it takes 5 days before they speak again.

Eunmi also has yet to tell Jinki about her past encounter with Kibum, but she's afraid that he'll eventually kill her, just for bringing a member in danger. She doesn't know though and she only hopes that his feelings for her are just as strong as her feelings for him.

How do feel about your clan? Do you feel welcome and happy there? It's a lot better than the former clan I had. Yes, I feel welcome and happy. I created it, didn't I? They better respect me so there's not going to be any trouble. And after all - we do have fun. It's also nice to have different species within, much less drama.

What was your reaction when your clan's ever-lovely Mage, Youra, brought back that Taemin guy from the SHINee clan back to base, especially when you saw he was unconcious and bleeding? Idiot, idiot, idiot. Doesn't she know anything about anything?! How am I supposed to deal with this idiotic mage and this ridiculously bleeding vampire and if he dies, oh my god, if he dies, she ing dies too. The SHINee clan are going to declare war or something equally stupid, dammit. This is all her fault.

Which member of the clan are you closest to? The Mother, absolutely. She and I were the first to meet and she knows how to take care of the other members when I don't. Maybe she should've been the leader but whatever. She takes care of what she must - and she's a great help to me.

Describe yourself to me. How do you see yourself? Don't let what others say influence your answer. As an honest person who is fun to hang around. I'm good to other people and we have a lot of fun. I even have human friends so it's not like I'm closeminded like other species (*cough* vampires *cough*) and - yeah, I'm a nice person. People like me, they should like me. I like people too. Sometimes.

What species do you hate the most? Why? Merpeople, god do I hate merpeople. Those ridiculous fairytale creatures who people think are oh-so-great and oh-so-ing-beautiful when in fact they're nothing but killer machines who ruin the reputation of any water creature. Can't even protect the seas the right way. Waste of space on Earth, might as well die with evolution. Ugh.

Questions? Comments? Concerns?:

Eunmi's individual color is #348781, medium aquamarine.

Please do say if you need clarification on anything regarding Eunmi or Jinki, I'm willing to bring lots of new informations to the table. It was relatively hard to create vampire Jinki, so I hope it's not all bad.~

Also - sorry for the extremely long application. There was a lot to say and a lot to clarify.

I hope you like her. ^^

Water does not resist. Water flows. When you plunge your hand into it, all you feel is a caress. Water is not a solid wall, it will not stop you. But water always goes where it wants to go, and nothing in the end can stand against it. Water is patient. Dripping water wears away a stone. Remember that, my child. Remember you are half water. If you can’t go through an obstacle, go around it. Water does.
