The very first thing that people notice about Ilhoon, he is kinda always happy, it's rare to see him without a smile on his face- whether there's any reason  for it or not. He does things with excitement,he is like an eager chirpy puppy. Ilhoon often jokes that his laugh and smiles is like a virus inflicting positivity to others- sometimes his cheerfulness does brighten a bleak situations, make as if this will be okay.  Though that bright attitude can annoying even to people close to him too. Stranger might even wonder what drug he's on, when he's actually that peppy. Ilhoon also has a flair of being dramatic- people that close to him even call him a drama queen, not in a bad way. NAkajima Ichigo was born from a marriage of a korean woman, Kang Min Ah with a Japanese man, Nakajima Yutaka. Unfortunately the marriage was colored by many problems- the biggest issue were the disaprovement from Yutaka's family and the fact Yutaka wasn't ready to have big resposibility to be a husband and a father. Yutaka caved to his family pressure, and walked away from his wife and son- that Ichigo was only 6 months old. At their divorce, Min Ah won their son custody battle. Soon after the divorce she moved back to Seoul Korea, from Kyoto. The first she did after she moved back to Korea was to change his son's name from the Japanese name Nakajima Ichigo in Korean name, Kang Ilhoon.

Raising a child was tough, raising a child as a single woman with no other family even tougher- Kang Min Ah swore to herself that she wouldn't buckle under the pressure. She depended so much to child daycare service, to watch over Ilhoon while she was working to make living= but, she always made sure that her son everything he needed. As a child Ilhoon was quite an easy child, never made problem and never fussy. When Ilhhon was 4 years old, Min Ah Marriend a man by the man Park Jeons Soo, and he also adopted Ilhoon and give his family name- from then on he became Park Ilhoon. Jeong Soo's fratenal twin children, Ji Woo and Jin Woon excited in greeting their new brother. Both 10 years older than Ilhoon, both eager to make him part of the family. JI Woo always wanted to bring Ilhoon with to her dance lesson, while Jin Woon always insisted for Ilhoon sat next him whenever he practiced his piano lesson- this exposed Ilhoon to dance and music since very young age. When Ilhoon was 14, things changed as both of his siblings moved out from their parents' house- Ji Woo started her caffe business and Jin Woon started his internship in the hospital so they couldn't spend their time exlusively for doting and smoothering him with attentions, despite both still visited him very weekend still in his teenager mind life changing things. And in that periode time his biological father tried to reconnect with him. But, Ilhoon pointedly refused to have any relationship him. Also around that time his path crossed with another boy by the name Han Beomshin.

If anyone asked Ilhoon, how he joined the crew? All that he could say was one moment he bumped into Beomshin outside his dance class, suddenly he was introduced to some other boys, then they hung around, some other boys also joined- and the rest was history. The truth, his time with the crew could be consider very happy, Ilhoon could dance and played music while being around friends. His mother wasn't happy when she found out, but his step-father defended him- and as long his activities didn't affect his school and grades, he was allowed to continue. For some times he did manage to balance between the school- when highschool graduation came his parent pushed him to go to college, it was in his freshmen year that the crew was disbanded.

For awhile after the disbandment Ilhoon was in slump mood- he tried to stay in contact with the others but only Beomshin that was willing stay in contact with him. So he moved on too, studied well in college and landed a part-time job- he even managed to conviced his parent he could be independent and moved out to an apartment. He kept in touch with Beomshin, ad a week before Beomshin died, Ilhoon went out with him- they ate grilled seafood and talked about the crew...to gather them for a reunion. It was the last time Ilhoon met and talked to Beomshin.

how they met:
When they finally manage to debut, they got a chance to promote their song in KBS's Global Request: A Song For You program, which Amber is one of the mc. It's a well-known secret among the members that Ilhoon is an F(x) fans, and he also has embarassingly huge crush on Amber. The moment he sees her, gone the cheerful guy with many aegyo, instead he becomes an awkward stuttering mess. Seriously, the members even get second-hand embarassment just by watching how nervous he is in front of her. Amber mistaking his nervousness as new-artist jitter, kindly give advice not to worry, relax and enjoy. Somehow it calm him down a bit. And when they start shooting the show he already back to his normal self. One of the mission in the show they need to write down a complete lyric of one the girl group song- Ilhoon succeessfully write down F(x) 'Beautiful Stranger' lyric on his first try. Then A$s#0l3s that known as his bandmates, in front the camera tell that Ilhoon is F(x) fans and amber is his bias- while he just freeze there and blush. The other mcs start to  , Amber good naturedly thanks him for being F(x) fans, she even joke it's the first time someone choose her as a bias instead the other F(x) members.
