Non- Native writers will be able to relate to this joy.

Hey, so I've hit the 10th mark of my fic.

Yet today I received a very joyous comment! A reader mentioned that my fic has improved and that reading my story has became more enjoyable.

I can't deny that (if you compare my first fic to my latest fic) there are NO improvements. Of course there is. It took me 8 hours to complete my first 2000 word chapter and now it goes down to 4-5 hours. Being a non-native speaker, I've always struggle with the thought: "how do you say this in English?" Now the right words just came by easier than before.

I guess that's the wonder of practicing and reading. My 2015 resolution is to read 12 books (number of fics not included). I am gladly at my 10th book now, hopefully by December I will be able to finish the other two. I am sharing this here because we here, are all readers and my friends don't read much. I don't know why but I guess it's not an asian culture.

This are one of the things AFF have changed me, I am exposed to more descriptive writings than just academic stuff (journals and textbooks). Also the beta-reading & review shops really helped me. Co-authoring too helps me alot to discover my mistakes. These are things we never get to find in our daily life.

Sometimes I'm pressured because there are really good writers out there, but then I really enjoy the fun of writing. Because I have lots of life experiences and ideas, writing is sort of my channel to tell them. Reading comments is a fun thing too, it's sort of my writing engine. Good or bad, I will know where to fix and where should I explore more of myself into.

Hopefully in time I will be able to discover my own style of writing, the rightful grammar and that it will help me in life. I'm really strulling with grammar (am I the only non-native that is going through this?) heh. Don't judge kay, we are all learners :))

That's all. Have a nice day random reader.

I actually like how you write, your ideas are actually fresh, and it's good that you read to improve your english, I also read a lot, watch english movies during free time, and as weird as it can sound I read the Merriam when I have nothing else to do lol. Anyways, so you're from asia, where in asia if you don't mind? ^^

Keep writing awesome stuff! :)

Your English doesn't sound bad at all in this blogpost though. o_o'
But no, you're definitely not the only non-native that struggles with grammar. So far I've seen native English speakers struggle with grammar as well.
I'm not a native English speaker either but my biggest trouble so far is thinking of an English word and not knowing whether or not it's the suitable word. But then Google Translate is a wonderful help - I use it a lot for quick translations of a word or to find the definition of an English word.

But it's nice that you're reading a lot of books, wish I was. ;_;
And yeah - comments that say you have improved are awesome. ^^
