She was born in a mediocre family. They own a two stories house in suburb though most of their activities happen in mid-Seoul. Her father is a manager of a publishing company, her mother owns a small cafe in mid-town, and her older brother works as a news anchor. Her parents are a laid-back type who never force their children at anything, including grades or their future plans.
Jin Hee's passion of dancing was shown since she was a little. Her mother encouraged her to take a ballet class when she was five. She excelled in her class and when she reached middle-school she tried to take a contemporary dance class as an after school activity. She was also an active member of theatre club since middle school. She also joined her highschool's theatre club. She was sent to an exchange program for a year to Japan in the third year of her middle school, that explains how she speaks Japanese rather fluently.
A talent scout from SM spotted her when her theatre club in highschool did a showcase in local theatre. She was told to audition as an actress. But when she performed a fine routine in her audition, the company decided that she would debut as a girl group member, not an actress. She trained for 3 years before finally debuted with the group.

TRIVIA: Neither Jongin nor Jin Hee bothers to give label to the relationship they have.
The first time they met and talked, Jin Hee was pretty surprised when Jongin somehow understood her outlandish thoughts. He somehow lost the dorkiness he usually exhibited whenever he was in front of camera or around his friends, and changed into a calm and rather hesitant person. But after few civil conversations, Jin Hee finally understood that Jongin is a chameleon; he can change his color to adapt with his surrounding, yet he's still a chameleon.
They meet regularly in dance studio whenever they have time to spare. They usually just sit and exchange thoughts about many things; from thought-inducing ideas to trivial things like the best dishes that they have ever tasted. Jongin realizes that there's something inside Jin Hee that he will find once he manages to crack her private shells. And just like Wendy, he's determined to find out what Jin Hee hides from the world.
He's kinda clueless about the whole relationship thing. And so does she.
» DEVELOPMENT + SCANDALS?
The fans and netizen assume Jongin and Jin Hee only share a brother-sister relationship. Jongin thought so, too, until he felt a weird sensation in his stomach when Jin Hee was chosen to be an MC with Kim Seokjin for Music Bank. The churn in his stomach intensified when he heard a rumor about Jin Hee and Seokjin's relationship. He tried to send a hint to Jin Hee about his feelings, but alas, Jin Hee's dense persona failed to read his despair. Jongin decided that Jin Hee's presence was consuming him more than he realized and he didn't like it. Jin Hee herself refused to take the blame of Jongin's confusion as she started pushing him away.
They grew apart eventually. Even after the rumor had been cleared by both agencies that Jin Hee and Seokjin were only colleagues, things were never be the same again for both Jin Hee and Jongin. But anyone must be able to read, even just by a short glance, that they missed each other's companies. Finally, either by fate or a coincident, they both met again in the same dance studio like the first time they met. And slowly, they rebuilt the trust they used to have between them.
