to think that rio is shy and timid is a big mistake. she's quiet and reserved, but not by any means is she categorized as a bashful girl who hides herself behind the door. rio can speak clearly and confidently. she joins roosenburg debate club and her closing statement is always phenomenal. she's very logical and uses her head more than her heart. being born from a privilege family makes her growing up as a poised lady who talks with precise and accurate words. she doesn't fret nor does she ever stumble upon words. she's also very smart and quick-witted, her years of studying with private tutors has been paid by the straight a she always gets on her report card.

however, when it comes to her private life, especially her future, rio seems like turning 180 degree from her usual self. her family provides her with everything and her endgame was already decided, she will be prepared to inherit her father's company. making choice for the sake of her future is an uncharted territory for her. she'd turn confused and really hesitates about everything. her well-coordinated life also makes her really antsy if she breaks any rules. and the distant between her and her parents makes her unfamiliar with the concept of openness; she'd choose to keep everything for herself rather than open up to anyone else.

⟪ FATAL FLAW ⟫

if rio joined her friends to play werewolf or mafia, she must've been accused as the werewolf in the first round and she would accept it even though she's not the werewolf like it was already destined. she keeps everything to herself because she thinks she can handle everything without leaning on anyone else. she's very secretive that it makes her very shady and suspicious. she's also very hesitant to be outside the box. she never tries to break the wall around her, she doesn't even realize that those walls were built by herself.

"what do you want?" is a question that will surely defeat her. because, to be frank, rio never really thinks what she really wants about anything. she doesn't really understand what she wants to be, she doesn't know if studying at roosenburg was her choice to begin with; she is not even sure if she really likes the color of white or it was just a dogma that her mother made because her mother said white looks good on her skin. she always walks on the pavement that people made for her and to think beyond that is not really on her special skill list.

⟪ BACKGROUND ⟫

rio was born as a sanada, a japanese family slash business mogul who owned hundreds of assets all across the globe. from private security company to food services and distribution company, sanada family owned it all. it was like they built a modern empire. that was the kind of family rio was born in. she never stumbled across any significant struggle in her life for her family provided all. even when she hadn't thought she needed something, it was already there. rio never felt needing something for everything was already there for her before she knew it.

everything for her future was already decided, including her education. enrolling at roosenburg academy was her parents' choice for every generations of sanada enrolled there. and rio accepted it without questioning anything. however, she started questioning her own obedience when her father decided to engage her with kento yamazaki, her childhood friend slash the heir of yamazaki group. she tried to brush off her uneasiness and accepted it like she always did to her family's previous life choices for her, but she strangely couldn't.

she still couldn't speak up though. she kept all of those itchy feelings inside her mind, hoping it would disappear eventually.
 

⟪ HOME LIFE ⟫

when she's home, rio spends most of her time in her room; either reading books or reviewing her previous lessons from school. on some occasions, especially when she has this pent-up annoyance that she can't let out, she would get out at swimming at her residence private pool. sometimes her mother asks her for a company in afternoon tea time, and she would comply even though those tea times always filled with awkward silence. rio is a homebody, she rarely gets out from the house except when she's invited to an important event that she can't miss.

rio's father is the head of sanada clan, a family who owns business ventures all across the globe. he always makes sure that the family always holds on to the values that have kept the family strong for 6 generations. he's a workaholic, he's rarely home. that's why his relationship with his daughter is very distant. the only time where they can have a real conversation is on family gathering. rio doesn't mind that. she's already used to it. even when her father stated the idea of acquisitioning yamazaki group by marrying her daughter off with their heir, kento yamazaki, rio tries not to mind it that much. it's a mystery if she does that because she seeks her father's approval or she's just obedient that way.

rio's mother was a famous traditional dancer before she was married to her husband. just like her husband, sae sanada holds on to traditional values tightly. she's very devoted to her husband and runs the sanada household smoothly to fulfill her duty as a wife of a head of a clan. however, there's one thing that she loves more than running sanada household; her daughter. sae sanada loves rio very much, she only wants the best for rio. she's willing to listen to rio's request or her complains, but those things never come out from her daughter's lips. sometimes rio's mother blames the distant within three of them that makes her daughter can't speak up what she wants. because no matter what she does to help rio break free from sanada family's shadow, it will be a vain if rio doesn't speak for herself.

"you know, i think the world would go upside down when you say 'father, i refuse.'"

kento has been rio's best friend since they were kids. they understand each other very well. usually kento comes by to sanada's residence to simply check on her or to drag her out from her nest. so when their parents decided to engage them, kento didn't refuse because to tell the truth, he always likes her.

however, kento knew his feelings for her wasn't mutual. she never saw him more than a best friend. so when she didn't protest about their engagement, kento was really disappointed. he told her, "please refuse this arrangement. i like you and i don't want to see you suffer for being in a relationship you never want." but she couldn't bring herself to speak up when both family announced their engagement officially. so kento told her, "i really like you. if you ask me whether i'm happy or not with our engagement, then yes, i'm happy. so call me selfish if you want, but please don't ask me to call off this arrangement. the final decision is in your hand and i accept it if you call this off."

kento genuinely liked her, but to be frank, it pained kento to see rio being chained up by her parents and by her own mind. he didn't mean any harm to her by confiscating her in a relationship she didn't want, but it was part of his plan. he only wanted rio to pass her own limits and speak up. he was planning to call the engagement off anyway, but not now, not until he was finally sure that rio's hesitant personality was beyond salvation.

"...costume party?" rio frowned with blatant bewilderment, but she composed herself quickly. "i... uh, i'll try my best, but the only thing i can think about is miko (shrine maiden) outfit that my parents bought me few years ago. is that... is that appropriate?"

"i..." rio seemed struggling with her words. she bit her lips nervously, suddenly remembered about the fuss that her parents made because of her engagement with her childhood friend. but then she looked somber and said solemnly, "i apologise for my lack of attendance in our classes, but i had some family business that needed to be done."

⟪ RELATIONSHIP ⟫

i think romance is not on rio's list of 'what to find on this strange land'. but eventually, she might meet an NPC who can show her how to be free. they might not get along at first, for he thinks she's very annoying; with all calm and too well-behaved personality. it's not only once or twice he suspects her for cooperating with bad people because of her restrained personality. but at the end, he understands her better and he learns her that there are so many things beyond that sophisticated facade of hers. and at the same time, rio learns that there are so many things she can be if she wants to fight for it.

both of them won't be such lovey-dovey. they could stay friends without any label about what relationship they share. but at the same time, they knew that they can lean on each other and their trust toward one and another is unconditional.

after a year of hiatus, i finally come back! woohoo!
anyway, i'm not really sure what the school name is, so i use roosenburg because on the briefing i read rosemore acaedmy, but on the contract i read roosenburg college. and is it a boarding school?

⟪SCENE REQUESTS ⟫

- bickering scene between the girls. they're divided into two sides, both sides have two supporters, leaving rio as the last person to decide which side she will support. her head almost explodes as she realizes that her choice would decide their survival in that strange land.
- rio makes a ed-up choice and for the first time, she experiences regret for the choice she makes for herself. instead disappointed, she strangely feels liberated and oddly happy about it.
- as they come back to their own world, rio makes a decision about her engagement and everything that her family decided on her behalf. (whether you make her learning to appreciate kento or refuse the engagement because her heart stuck on john doe, it's up to you)
