Chopstick Soulmates

Do you believe in soulmates? That God has destined you for one person on this earth, wherever and whoever they may be?

I do. I'm not even going to lie. I am a firm believer in soulmates.

And one thing I love to read about is different legends, superstitions, and old wives' tales about soulmates. They're just really interesting to me, true or not.

So last night I stumbled upon this Chinese Chopsticks Soulmate superstition, saying that how you hold your chopsticks determines where your soulmate is. I thought it was pretty interesting. Especially since I'm more used to China's popular Red Thread of Fate tale.

So how do you hold your chopsticks?

Do you hold them really low and close to your food like this?

Your soulmate is close by, perhaps born in the same hometown/city as you. It basically means your soulmate is extremely close to your birthplace.

Do you hold them very high and far away from your food?

Your soulmate is very, very far away. Possibly on the other side of the world! Definitely not born in your hometown.

Or do you simply hold them more or less in the middle?

Comfortable distance, your soulmate is. "My soulmate lives far from my home." But not too far. Maybe just another city or state.

Now go obsess over how your bias holds theirs and how it corelates to how you hold yours!

I hold my at the very top; if I held them any higher, I'd drop them. How do you hold yours? Comment below!

Here in Maldives it quite rare to use chopsticks. Traditional way is using hands. But quite a number prefer spoon and fork too.
My dad made learn how to eat with all types of cutlery when I was a kid. So I happen to use them a lot actually! (Weirdly, i can't eat with my hand. It's hard and I look awkward- gets teased a lot for that since no one in Maldives does "not" know how to eat with hands. But I always ate using cutlery!)
Back to the point, I hold them very high and far away. So I guess he is quite far from me. /sigh/

Same here. I like reading and hearing legends, superstitions and tales about soulmates whether it is real or not. It is just very interesting and a lot of times, romantic haha.

I at using chopsticks though. But whenever I used them, my hold is always in the middle so my hold is firm.

My Chinese friend told me that how we hold our chopsticks determine the length of our marriage, instead of this. So when she told me that my marriage will last long (since I held my chopsticks near the end), I was so happy. But when I read this new theory you brought up, I was like nooo. HAHAHAHAHA. But it was an interesting information. :-)

My grandma told me that the further away I held my chopsticks, the further I would go when I leave home.

My grandma used to tell me this too but her words were "you better not hold your chopsticks too high up or you will get sent off far far away to be married"
And there was another joke about if you can't hold your chopsticks you can't get married
