money is the root of all evil fireworks sounded and people cheered when twenty year old nam jinwook placed his eyes on shin 'louisa' yuri. no, literally. it was new year's eve and their respective families had went out to celebrate and enjoy the fireworks. as cliché as love stories went, jinwook fell for yuri the moment he laid his eyes on her as the latter's smile was illuminated. yuri was a korean-american who recently moved to jinju, south gyeongsang, her parents' hometown, from atlanta, georgia. after lots of shameless chasing and push and pull that went on for more than half a year, they became a couple. pretty much their whole neighbourhood was sure they'd marry and live happily ever after. they did get married, when both were twenty seven, with a huge bucket list and dreams they were sure they'd reach together. when yuri discovered her period was late and figured out that her wedding night was to blame, she merely told jinwook that they'd include their child in their dreams and still live however they wanted. but they never were able to as nam 'eric' yoondong came along and they spent the last of their prime time taking care of a mischievous toddler. as if their bright future had been locked into a chest and shoved deep into a closet, they dedicated all their life to raising the child. they were content and smiles graced their faces, but they weren't exactly happy-especially yuri, who was used to the vibrant lifestyle she had. nevertheless they went along with what fate had given them, and after more urging, nam 'ayana' gaeul was brought to the world. perhaps it was the postpartum depression, or perhaps it was just the fact that residing jinju wasn't what she wanted in her life, but yuri left the household when gaeul was three months old into the arms of a suitor who had been pining for her ever since yuri married into the nam household. when tearfully asked why, she merely replied that jinwook would never have the money nor the power to make her truly happy.

you'd probably expect the siblings to be at each others' throats at all times, and you'd be wrong. even though eric likes throwing huge parties when their dad is staying the night at the office again and gaeul is trying to let sujin hear what she says as they skype over the cheers and loud music, they get along. their existence might seem like oil and water, but in reality is peanut butter and jam as they balance each other out and create a peaceful sibling relationship. sure, sometimes eric's a bit too obnoxious for gaeu's liking and she'd get slightly annoyed, or eric gets fed up at how unresponsive gaeul is to most of the things he says, they don't fight. they know it's how the other acts- eric being loud is how he cares, and gaeul being quiet is how she cares, and to be honest most are jealous of how well they get along. as children gaeuld sit on the couch reading a book as eric ran around the room, and now it's...the same. they're there for each other when needed but knows when to give the space and privacy. they've grown much more distant recently as he considers gaeul to have changed into a snobbier and high-class person, not the gaeul he knows, and gaeul doesn't get why her brother doesn't care about his physical needs considering their backgrounds, but it's one of the reasons why she loves him, whether she admits it or not. even so, she's willing to break their relationship further in order to have sujin like her more- sujin finds eric infuriating and dislikes him to the bone. and so? gaeul does too.

what's in your bag? as the somehow maternal figure of the group, she has a huge backpack with her. not just the huge mcm backpacks the princesses use, but literally a hiking backpack, with tampons, more outfits then necessary, and a jumble of other things that she'd figure they'd need. and the funny thing is most of the things people ask for, gaeul'd be able to fish them out of her backpack. additional sunscreen? check. face masks because one needs to pamper oneself even during roadtrips? check. too much toilet paper because bird poop is a hazard? check. ramen because...ramen? check. she's bordering on being a makeshift doraemon for the crew, having everything they want in the depths of her bag.
a girl can't have too many of anything she has two other bags in her huge backpack for when she won't be hauling her backpack around- for example,dates alone time with hyunsk or casual dinners after checking into a hostel. one is a present from sujin- a red medium gancio lock shoulder bag from ferragamo, which only fits her phone, her sunglasses, some money, her id and a pack of tissue. the other is just a plain grey tote bag.
no thanks I'll order something else when one goes on a coastal road trip one would be most excited for all the cheap seafood one can eat. that, however, does not apply to gaeul. she's not allergic, but the only seafood she eats is fish. she just doesn't like seafood in general and would wolf down bowls of rice or noodles instead.
don't shift around I'm sleeping gaeul falls asleep easily, and wakes up just as easily. able to fall asleep in any position when she feels sleepy- even standing, it's horrible- she's able to fall asleep with her head slightly bent down so she doesn't have to worry about her drool showing upp and gracing everyones' eyes. on the car she'd let people sleep on her lap so they can sleep horizontally, and doesn't complain even if she gets a stiff neck the next day from her sleeping position.
I'll be here drawing in the sand gaeul can't swim. when everyone else goes and have fun swimming and splashing, she sits on the beach. the most she's ever gone was dip her toes in the water, splashing people. some might wonder why she's even hear when she can't swim and doesn't even like seafood- she herself can't really answer you either.

what's in your bag? as the somehow maternal figure of the group, she has a huge backpack with her. not just the huge mcm backpacks the princesses use, but literally a hiking backpack, with tampons, more outfits then necessary, and a jumble of other things that she'd figure they'd need. and the funny thing is most of the things people ask for, gaeul'd be able to fish them out of her backpack. additional sunscreen? check. face masks because one needs to pamper oneself even during roadtrips? check. too much toilet paper because bird poop is a hazard? check. ramen because...ramen? check. she's bordering on being a makeshift doraemon for the crew, having everything they want in the depths of her bag.
a girl can't have too many of anything she has two other bags in her huge backpack for when she won't be hauling her backpack around- for example,
no thanks I'll order something else when one goes on a coastal road trip one would be most excited for all the cheap seafood one can eat. that, however, does not apply to gaeul. she's not allergic, but the only seafood she eats is fish. she just doesn't like seafood in general and would wolf down bowls of rice or noodles instead.
don't shift around I'm sleeping gaeul falls asleep easily, and wakes up just as easily. able to fall asleep in any position when she feels sleepy- even standing, it's horrible- she's able to fall asleep with her head slightly bent down so she doesn't have to worry about her drool showing upp and gracing everyones' eyes. on the car she'd let people sleep on her lap so they can sleep horizontally, and doesn't complain even if she gets a stiff neck the next day from her sleeping position.
I'll be here drawing in the sand gaeul can't swim. when everyone else goes and have fun swimming and splashing, she sits on the beach. the most she's ever gone was dip her toes in the water, splashing people. some might wonder why she's even hear when she can't swim and doesn't even like seafood- she herself can't really answer you either.
let me pet your head so gaeul may or may not have a weird obsession with ruffling peoples' hair. you could say it's a , she wouldn't argue with that. it's automatic- whoever's next to her, she'd raise her hand and start playing with their hair. she finds her brother's hair the fluffiest and best to play with, but with a lack of eric on the trip, she settles for sujin, which annoys the latter greatly.
