just because she walks on eggshells around her bestest friends and always apologizes first even if she doesn't think she did anything wrong, it doesn't mean she won't say her thoughts. in fact, she's the kind to be mean towards her closest friends, but she knows where everyones' bottom lines lie and when she notices the flicker of annoyance, she'd immediately backtrack and apologize. habitually rude to pretty much everyone and believing honesty is the best policy, her tongue is a knife and if you engage in a battle of wits and sarcasm with her, you'd lose in three minutes flat. paired with quick wits and the bravery to say her petty arguments, jaekyung is able to fish out what you said years ago from her back of mind to shoot them back at you, and in short no one has ever won an argument with her- some either break down in giggles at how funny jaekyung's arguments can be and some get furious and stalk off- either way, jaekyung always wins her arguments and some find it a pity as she didn't join the debate team in high scool, but then they know she'd never attend the meetings anways. when any of the yeoshins are berated in public ( for example, a manager at a club screams at sujae for terrorizing their guest ), jaekyung is the one to step up and use her sarcasm for a good cause and with a flick of hair, leave her opponent dumbfounded and speechless.

BACKGROUND
the day gam jaekyung was born to gam dongwook and ma heyool, flowers bloomed, birds chirped, and angels appeared in her parents' dream singing hymns. no, just kidding. jakeyung was born smack in the middle of a cold winter on january fifteen, 1991 in mapo. her parents were the best ones any teenager could ask for- they were lax and open minded, and jaekyung learnt about the birds and the bees when she was six, and was told to just be safe and legal. all they required was that jaekyung passed her tests- she could get bad grades, but she at least had to pass- and that is how jaekyung became the lazy she is today.
her parents were, and till this day still are, very much in love with each other, and jaekyung reckons she picked up her flirtatious wording from her parents- come on, there is a reason why her first relationship occured when she was four, and why her first breakup happened three days later. her parents were the kind to make sure she did the right- and legal thing, and as long as it was okay in their book- and a lot of things are okay in their book- then jaekyung was alright, which also explains why she has the mouth of a drunk sailor. in short, the foul mouthed and exuberant goddess came to be because of how....nice her parents were. in fact, now jaekyung's twenty four, they're planning a romantic getaway around the world.
the gam familya could count as rich- no, they didn't live in a huge mansion in gangnam nor did they have maids waiting on them hand and foot, but heyool was financially able to walk past a diamond ring and buy it with her credit card without a care in the world. s jaekyung grew up, she was everybody's but nobody's friend at the same time. she got along with everyone, but when it was time to pair up and if the class had odd numbered students, she would always be the one alone ( no, her various boyfriends would not be her work partner because they knew how lazy jaekyung is ). but then came along lee sujae, and the first moment they spoke they clicked, and afterwards, the yeoshins were formed- jaekyung may or may not have came up with the name.
jaekyung's playgirl ways started when she was four. yes, four, not fourteen. she pretty much 'dated' every male classmate in her class during kindergarten, and in elementary she didn't stop. it's probably worth noting that she doesn't go around with multiple boyfriends at once, but she does have a new guy with her every week. and even though she's labelled a by those who dislike her for always sticking around guys ( when really she just finds males easy to befriend ), she does not have that easily. in fact, because of her numerous, continuous flings, she's never felt the 'love' she knew she needed in order to have , and since she most definitely does not act on lust, she's still a . shocking, but it's the truth. but then she's had way too many boyfriends for she herself to keep track of, since she'd easily agree to being in a relationship because of a split second of affection.
currently, jaekyung has four places she can sleep at: her first choice would be the flat that she and a few other yeoshins rent together, but sometimes she stays at her parents, but then they're leasing the flat since they won't be in it for half a year or so. then there's always her current boyfriend's place, where she stops any fantasies the male is having and kicks him onto the couch. the last choice is jaewon's place, where she used to stay a lot because she's spent so many years there he actually has a toothbrush and spare clothes for her- but she knows of sujae's feelings towards jaewon so she refrains from doing so, and is now spending most of her nighs at the yeoshins' flat or mingyu's. every morning at seven thirty she has to be present behind the counter at a business building in cheongdam-dong in her ( atrocious ) beige outfit with a hgue smile plastered on her face, directed at those who walk in. she leaves work at seven pm sharp, gets a cup of /deep breath/ double chocolaty chip crème frappuccino at a starbucks nearby and heads to wherever she's planned on staying for the night. during weekends she either stays at home or goes up to mingyu's and...laze around.

when sujae first asked jaekyung to be a bridesmaid for inha's wedding, she had immediately said yes. just because she doesn't have the heart to dress up doesn't mean she doesn't like dressing up- the mere fact that she'll be able to wear a pretty bridesmaid dress and get someone else put her makeup on excite her, and since inha was also a friend of hers, she was well up for it. and hey, maybe there would be attractive people for her to gape and possibly flirt with- and if not, her on mingyu's arm would be a great sight to behold.

♣she's probably one of the best drinkers out of the yeoshins and her alcohol tolerance is pretty high. it's a good thing for her as it keeps those who'd like to do anything inappropriate when she's drunk at bay, as they'll most likely get drunk first.

guess who's rushed af and will only summarize jaeyoon's personality briefly?
kwon jaeyoon is the guy you'd like to bring home to your parents on the fateful day of chuseok, the typical nice guy, the boy next door. always patient and understanding, he fulfills the nice guy role in korean dramas: he's nice, he's there for you, he's just downright perfect, but he will never get chosen by the heroine because he's a noble idiot. jaeyoon is that guy. polite to every person he meets and one who never holds grudges, he's the one who gets mistaken as flirting just because he's being a gentleman. incredibly giving and benevolent, he's somewhat a fatherly figure in his friends' life, as he's the kind of friend to tell you what's right and what's wrong and wants the best for you, even if it means having to hurt you. that itself already makes him different from jaekyung.
furthermore, jaeyoon is the one who hangs in the background or around a corner, never attracting attention ( even though he's incredibly handsome ). the one who silently cleans up the messes his friends leave behind and one to never claim credit for it, he's just that really good looking and tall guy in the corner who you don't really notice. rather awkward, he rarely objects to what's presented to him and just goes along with the flow, and while this can be great, jaeyoon tends to be a pushover instead. he obeys whatever people say and is the walking definition of the guy who finishes the whole group project for everyone.
but all in all, jaeyoon views the world in a darker light as he's been pretty much trampled on all his life, and as he's afraid of being berated for his opinions that don't fit other peoples', he tends to keep his mouth shut and smile through. he anticipates undesirable outcomes and believes that the hardships in life outweigh the luxuries, and he works a lot harder because of it, but his pessimism can be infuriating at times. rather biased when it comes to pretty much everything, expect him to help his friends and take up all their troubles. when facing a situation where his friend is obviously the wrong one, he'd still support his friend because that's just how he is- he knows what's right and what's wrong, but if you didn't heed to his warnings and screwed up, he'd still stand on your side no matter what.
IT ALL BEGINS WITH JUST ONE KISS, I'M HELD HOSTAGE BY YOUR LOVE
childhood friends, jaeyoon has been following jaekyung noona around as soon as he could walk. the two families lived next to each other and their two children grew up as playmates, and jaekyung would always stand up for the timid jaeyoon. in fact, at school, most kids throught they were siblings as they 1. don't remember their surnames and 2. both their names star with 'jae'. that's just how inseperable and close they were. all throughout nursery to middle school, the two had stuck together and while lots wondered why goddess jaekyung stuck with awkward whats his name again, the twos' friendship were incredibly stable and at age fifteen their parents were joking that the two would probably get married if they couldn't find a partner by their thirties.
jaeyoon had had a crush on jaekyung since he was a mere seven year old, and over the years it only continued to grow. it hurt to see jaekyung keep having different boyfriends, but at the same time it gave him the hope that maybe one day it would be his turn, and it would be his turn forever. however, to his dismay, she only saw him as a best friend, a brother, and nothing more, and so jaeyoon kept his mouth shut about his feelings. one spring day when they were sixteen, jaekyung was bored enough to study with jaekyung, and when she heard he call her name, she lifted her head, and all she felt was jaeyoon's lips on her. she pulled back, laughed awkwardly, and waved away his apologies. and for the first time in her life, jaekyung was unable to still keep in contact with those she rejected or dumped- having her cherished 'younger brother' next to her and knowing what his true feelings were- it made her incredibly uncomfortable and they drifted apart.
the new school year started and jaeyoon went off to america for further studies per his father's request. jaekyung spent a few months of lonliness before meeting sujae, and even though they had hugged and promised to keep in touch at the airport ( with jaekyung standing quite far from jaeyoon ), they rarely did, and soon stopped contacting each other altogether. sometimes they still think of each other, and jaeyoon still kicks himself for doing that and jaekyung kicks herself for being so distant, but the past is the past and all they had was lingering regret. the last time they met was two years ago when jaeyoon was back to korea for good and there was a high school reunion- but even there they were stiff and akward.
till now.
it turns out lee jinsil, jaeyoon's first and current girlfriend, is also lee jaeho's cousin. yes, the groom lee jaeho. when jaekyung sat down for the ceremony, her eyes connected with a very familiar pair on the table across hers- and her jaw dropped as she saw kwon jaeyoon sitting right there, jovial grin on his face, ethereal girl next to him. and that was when gam jaekyung finally admitted to herself that she did- and might as well still does- harbour feelings for the male as well, but denied them as she thought 1. it was her being confused 2. she'd move on soon enough and 3. if they did get together she'd probably change her heart soon enough and both of them would end up being hurt. seeing him with jinsil, however, lit a jealous fire in jaekyug's heart, and when it was time to dance, she asked jaeyoon for one for old time's sake. with mingyu frowning and jinsil staring, the two danced and jaeykung apologized for what she did before, only to be very offended when jaeyoon said he'd long forgotten it ( lies, lies lies ). they exchanged numbers and in a span of two weeks, they're as close as they were years before.
love does have a magical way of appearing, doesn't it?
