Infinite Effect in Berlin Review

It's tiiiime for another concert review - this time Infinite, hurray ^-^ Last Sunday, Infinite finished the European part of their world tour with their concert in Berlin – and of course I had to be present. I’m an Infinite fan for about two and a half years now but sadly missed them on their last world tour – they didn’t stop in Germany and I was way too young to visit a foreign country for a concert anyway. This time, everything worked out – I live in Berlin now, and my sister also rooms with me atm, so of course we bought the tickets right away. The venue was Columbia hall, which is not the biggest concert hall, but also not a small one (last year BTS was in like a so much smaller one). They sold around 3000 tickets, and while it wasn’t sold out (around ~200 tickets left) the hall was pretty packed. My sister and I arrived pretty late, only around one and a half hours before the entrance started, but it wasn’t much of the problem. Everyone in the queue was super nice, fans from all over Germany and Europe, and I was even able to buy some Infinite merchandise – a Sunggyu fan plus a photoset (I keep one of the pics in my purse now ^^) and a Sungyeol fan.

We entered the hall pretty late and stood in the very back, but still were able to see the stage clearly – I’m 5’7 and my sister 5’9 so we had some advantage ;) I already heard people screaming from outside and we discovered the reason pretty soon, since they were showing Infinite mvs projected onto a large white curtain on stage to make waiting enjoyable for us. Everyone lost their over Pretty, Man in Love Destiny, Back and Bad before the concert even started. Then, the concert teasers played and hallelujah they all look so good in this, walking around like the badasses they are with a huge Infinite flag and loads of dramatic background around them. When the teasers ended, there was a quick pause – and suddenly, there were seven large shadows behind the curtain. This was probably when seriously went down and everyone started screaming uncontrollably.

I was clutching my lightstick hard and jumped up and down, and bam – the curtain fell, and Infinite, in awesome white suits, stood on stage, only a few metres away from me. They all stood still in some badass pose before the beat dropped and BTD started – the best way to start the concert, seriously. Infinite are all even better looking in real life, all with their usual hair – except Woohyun, who sported a fluffy blonde bowl cut, so cute omg. They left a spot for Hoya, who sat injured with a stern expression on the very right, but killed it nevertheless. BTD is such an energetic dance and while they slayed the dance moves, the vocals were also on point. This performance looked extra gorgeous because of their crisp white suits btw. After BTD, they quickly smiled and waved at us, before they already started Paradise. No words needed for the way they excelled the song just like BTD – I really like the difference in Paradise between the melancholic verses and the powerful chorus. The next song was Be Mine and oh my god I love this song so much and they slayed extra hard. While they looked a little nervous during the first two performances – dance moves on point, expression a little too stiff – they were way more relaxed and in it to win it in Be Mine.

After Be Mine, they had a pause they used to drink water and some slipped out of their jackets – a big thank you to the stylists again because now most of them were only wearing pretty transparent white dress shirts and uh, nothing beneath …. Infinite smiled brightly and waved at us and then, they introduced themselves “Hallo, wir sind Infinite!” (Hello, we are Infinite). Screaming intensified and omg, their pronunciation was so adorable. Then, a couple of members introduced themselves – “Hallo, ich bin Sunggyu” (Hello I’m Sunggyu) and “Hallo, ich bin …. Euer Freund L!” (Hello, I’m your friend L!) with extremely uber cute pronunciation and all smiles, which only made us scream even louder. It’s so nice they practised introducing themselves in the country’s language for the world tour, since that’s not something every group does! Woohyun apparently also had to go and play with L’s hair while he was talking, brushing the strands out of his forehead with us fans screaming so loudly L had to repeat his sentence several times (he looked at Woohyun like ‘seriously, hyung’, who only beamed proudly). Now, it was time for Hoya to speak – and oh my goodness. That boy, sitting all lonely on his stool, insecure expression on his face, stared at us with his big, sad eyes, and started this oh my god speech “Ich wollte … sorry sagen” (I want to say sorry) and he looked so downcast and then he continued “Ich habe … meinen Fuß verletzt .. Ich wollte euch zeigen gute performances aber ich kann nicht.” (I hurt my foot. I wanted to show you good performances, but I’m not able to) and oh my god honey. The fact he learned this in German just to say sorry to us for something that is no way his fault seriously pierced through my heart right there and then. Everyone in the hall lost it and started screaming loudly “Kwenchana”. Dongwoo then beamed and also started yelling “Kwenchana” through his mic. Hoya still didn’t look too happy, but managed to smile at us. Everyone in the hall probably wanted to hug him tightly at that moment and never let go. Hoya then took a deep breath and yelled in the mic “Und jetzt bitte ….” (and now please ….). Then he paused and looked a little confused and Woohyun and Dongwoo lost it next to him, Woohyun patting his back while laughing and beckoned him to go on. Hoya was like “wait wait I’m sorry” and then continued “Und jetzt bitte … freut euch auf das nächste Lied!” (And now please be excited for the next song!) like omg how much German did that boy learn ??? So amazing, seriously.

A dance rock-ish style intro started playing and hallelujah, went seriously down while they danced energetically – an intro to what came next, Destiny, woop woop. Awesome, there’s no need to say more. They also slayed Tic Toc, which was next and is one of my favourite dances of them. I really like this clock-ish styled dance and it was so great seeing them performing it with such fierce but happy expressions. Next were their new songs – Footsteps, where everyone sat on small stools and omg, finally Hoya was back in their middle instead of all by himself on the side. This is such a chill and calm song, and they performed it so nicely. Afterwards, their ballad Love Letter which is one of my favourites. Dongwoo waved his hand to the beat together with us, and it was seriously awesome. For Between Me & You, one of their best songs for all time imo, the mood was back to energetic and fun, and hallelujah, they performed this awesome song so well, I cry.

Then, cut again – everyone rushed off stage, they played another set of Infinite Effect teaser vids (badass x1000) and then only, one single mic was placed on stage. Hurray – time for Woohyun’s solo stage. And lord, this boy loves Everyday so much, he put so much feelings in the verses and then completely let go in the chorus, jumping around on stage and showing us just what an amazing singer he is. We all cheered loudly for him when he excited the stage with a wide beam. Then – Infinite H, and hallelujah. Hoya jumped on stage with a colourful shirt and large sunglasses, Dongwoo next to him with an extra fancy jacket. They were slaying so hard during Sorry I’m Busy and Pretty, Hoya especially happy to walk around on stage again (even though I was so worried he overdid himself like boy, don’t jump around too much, you’re injured). Infinite H was simply pure swag – and Dongwoo even slipped out of his jacket, like ok, you jumping around in a loose and transparent wife beater and nothing else is completely fine, like psssh, I’m not screaming my head off , what are you talking about. Hoya laughed then and took Dongwoo’s jacket, acting like he’s throwing it at the fans, and then he was like nah just kidding. When Infinite H left everyone was already extremely hyped and then, there was a silence, and again a single mic on stage and looooord. Kim Sunggyu entered the stage looking uber fine, a small smirk on his lips, and can I just add how much I love his solo album and how much I lost it when Kontrol started playing??? And for this song, the fan chants finally worked really well – in every break during the verses, there was loud shouting “Kim Sunggyu!”. Nice work everyone ;). Sunggyu unsurprisingly also slayed super hard, he puts so much emotion in his songs it’s seriously amazing. When he ended, everyone screamed so loud I felt my ears ringing. Then – let’s get it on with fluffy fluff, time for Infinite F. The boys wore such cute jumpers, and all the smiles, beams, kisses and hearts thrown at the fans had me all dizzy. They performed Heartbeat and My Girl and were literal sunshines on stage, L being the star of high notes and everyone being the star of fanservice. They even threw cute stuffed animals (which were also signed!) at the fans, and why not, L now danced with a cute pink dinosaur in his hands. Infinite F are seriously so adorable.

Another break, another outfit change for them – and Last Romeo Original Version played on the screen for us ^-^ It’s practically  the same like the normal mv, but instead of Woohyun’s story parts, it was switched to L having a dramatic showdown with a girl, involving lots of water and clocks (uh it’s hard to describe). Then, they sang For You – a new song, rock’n’roll, everyone with a stand up mic in front of them. I only remember lots of “Wake Up!” screaming in the chorus, but the song is really good! Afterwards – Nothing’s Over started! I didn’t expect them to perform it since it wasn’t on their setlist, but it’s actually my first Infinite song and very close to my heart. They did some sort of rock-ish party remix, which was awesome! They even threw cute paper planes at the fans while singing (Maknae line completely failed throwing the planes correctly, Sungjong had this dumbfounded ‘why is it not working’ look on his face, aigo you cutie). And then, they immediately switched to Entrust, also party remix, involving all of them and everyone in the hall jumping around like crazy during the chorus, it was seriously the best mood! Ah I really love those two cheerful songs! Sungyeol and Dongwoo even tried to undress L during the first verse like why not, I’m sure no one would complain. But, unfortunately, they weren’t successful … Next, we had Cover Girl, and when Sungyeol was about start his rap, he grinned, suddenly rushed over to Woohyun, pointed at him and held his mic in front of him – and Woohyun started rapping! Huzzah! He was really good! Cover Girl with this cute dance was really awesome, creating a light and chilled mood. Then they switched to their new album again – Up To You, which was so light hearted and really really nice to watch, and Moonlight, all of them being extremely energetic again. They really enjoy performing their new songs a lot.

Another outfit change (their best one, they looked even better now), a quick break (Sungyeol went over, wiped away L’s sweat with a towel and then threw it at the fans, why thank you) another line up and talking – they talked more now, with a translator supporting them. Sunggyu said stuff like how happy they are to be here and how much they like us and aw our cute hamster. Then, Dongwoo, energetic and bright as usual, and started talking about the solo songs they performed – starting with Everday from Woohyun, which earned a lot of extra screaming from us. Then, Infinite H – Dongwoo immediately started singing Pretty, extended his mic at us, and everyone joined. Dongwoo and Hoya looked so proud. Infinite F was next, and uuuuuh. Sungjong started singing My Girl but um, if you’re not a Korean native, it’s possible to sing along to all of their great hits and everything, but Infinite F’s solo songs was a whole different case. There were like a handful of people singing and otherwise awkward silence. Sungjong looked a little taken aback so Woohyun immediately continued singing the chorus, but still not many joined – I’m sorry, honeys ^^”. Last but not least – Dongwoo pointed at Sunggyu “Leeeader”. Sunggyu was all cool and calm like yes thank you my song is great I know, but he was so genuinely happy when everyone cheered for him and flashed us many smiles and waves. L meanwhile did some sort of own solo project on his side, pointing and interacting with fans in the first row, smile wider with every “I love you L Oppa!” he got. This guy spoiled us so much with his cute fanservice >.< Sunggyu then said he’s sad, but those are their last three songs. And now we have glorious, glorious Hoya again, with this awesome German he practised “Ich möchte, das ihr alle laut mitsingt für den nächsten Song!” (I want you all to loudly sing along to the next song). Of courrrrse.

Excited silence – and wooo, the first chords of Back started playing. What can I say – amazing mood. Everyone immediately sung along to the verses, I had goose bumps all over my body, and when the beat dropped we all lost it. I can’t stop listening to Back ever since the concert because of this. Best. Mood. Ever. And it got better – The Chaser was next, the mood, already on top, just increased to the maximum, and the dance, soooo perfect. Then, a break – Infinite talked with us again, and Sunggyu did all the leader stuff, thanking everyone, the staff, their managers and the band. It was so much fun actually, since the translator messed up and paused a couple of times, and Sunggyu looked at her with raised eyebrows and nodded, as if he was saying ‘What is it, go on’, oh our sassy leader. He then also added, according to the translator “Jetzt gehen wir alle noch saufen!” (We’re all going to booze / get drunk now!) like lolol honeys, have fun :D They all said how much they love us – Woohyun releasing extremely greasy stuff about pain in his heart as usual, and then he even told us he hurt his toe so he made a few mistakes and is sorry it wasn’t perfect, like what is he talking about, he slayed thorough the whole concert. Dongwoo then told us this completely crazy story about a bunny and a tree and a fruit (???) and how he wants to share this fruit with us, like I’m sure this makes sense in Korean since Infinite didn’t lose their , but we fans were all a little dumbfounded. Cute nevertheless. Then – their last song. Oh noes.

Still - the highlight of the whole concert was definitely the song they performed now. Let’s face it, Infinite slayed uber hard with their Bad comeback, but seeing the song life on stage puts it to a whole new level. They were perfect, like sooooooooo perfect, I can’t even emphasize it enough. This song is so so so good, and the fanchants worked really well with it. Infinite gave their best, and we all screamed as loud as possible and then – they left the stage, just like that.

But no, not the end of course. We all started screaming “Dashi Durawa, Durawa” (a bit messy, but nevermind) and a couple of minutes later – Infinite was baaacccck. They performed Come Back Again with the brightest smiles ever on their faces. Oh how much I loved this. Another break, the last one, and everyone in the audience raised the banners we prepared for them “Danke Infinite” (Thank you Infinite). They loved it! L repeated “Danke Danke Danke!” so often, with this child-like cute smile on his face, and Woohyun told us to chant, he yelled in his mic “Danke!” and we “Infinite!” so it was “Danke!” “Infinite!” “Danke!” “Infinite!” for a good minute. Sunggyu and Sungyeol were all squishy on their side, Sunggyu squeezing Sungyeol’s biceps several times and both of them messing around, aigo. They said good bye, everyone saying some last words in German, eg. L “Einen guten Heimweg!” (Have a safe way home) like omg that was sooo cute. And then – their last song, and this time really their last song. Together, which is so lovely and omg I felt like crying right there and then but instead focused on raising my banner high for them and getting one last glimpse of every member. They switched spots, so everyone was everywhere at times, and in the end they all held their hands and bowed down – for like one minute! Then, lots of waving, last interactions and smiles with the fans, I especially remember Hoya staring at all of us intensely, like his eyes slowly wandered over every single one, and oh my heart was beating so fast.

And then, they all slowly left the stage, with Hoya being the last one to leave after several minutes of waving. And the concert – was officially over, phew. My feet hurt like crazy, I seriously needed to drink something – and I was incredibly, extremely happy. I took a couple of selfies with my sister (you weren’t allowed to take pictures during the concert) and then, we went outside – finally cold, fresh air. But – when we started walking down the street, a lot of fans gathered around a gate close to the hall. My sister and I decided to sit down and wait, because it was only ten pm, and why not give it a try – and suddenly, around ten minutes later, the gates suddenly opened. I jumped up, rushed towards were the fans lined up, and held my breath when a dark van slowly drove through the gate. The van stopped – and I was face to face with a mop of fluffy blonde hair and a face pressed against the window! Woohyun was literally only like half a metre away from me, beaming through the window of the van and waving at us. We all happily waved back, like omg, and then L tried to push Woohyun away, both of them wanting to get the best look out of the window. Hoya was in the back, smiling calmly and also waving at us, all three even finer up so close (I caught a glimpse of leader on the other side of the van scrolling through his phone ahaha). The van then started again and Infinite left.

So, here a few words to every single member in detail

Sungjong Our innocent maknae isn’t so innocent anymore, eh? Seductively biting his lips and winking whenever his part was, he totally showed us he’s all grown up and y now. Looking all great with his caramel hair and still also with cute smiles and thank yous, he was simply such a cutie pie. Probably the member that talked least, but made up with fanservice to the fullest.

L Oh honey. Trying to kill all fangirls at once, fanservice to the maximum, throwing hearts, winking, smiling, pointing and chatting with fans and then he also looked extra fine. Was there any need to kill us like that? I think not. His voice deserves another mention because wow! He sounds so great life, and he slayed all them high notes. Despite his image, really cheerful & talked a lot.

Sungyeol Bright smiles and choding like actions, he was all cheerful thorough the whole concert. Extremely tall & extremely good looking. Voice especially during Infinite F songs and Moonlight wow wow wow. Sungyeol is out to kill us all, and so far there is no way to stop him. Talked not as much as I expected in the first part, but was all sunshine after the first half. Dance moves really good.

Hoya Needs the love of everyone. The fact he was so sorry made me wail. Lonely and insecure on his stool, especially during energetic performances eg Back, Bad, Destiny, but all slaying and swag during Infinite H stage. Practically fluent in German like wow how much did he even practise. Extremely humble & loves fans a lot.

Woohyun Squishy mushroom. Surprisingly no revealing shirts / low neckline etc, instead all cute with blonde bowl cut and adorable actions. Slayed extremely hard in his parts, high notes all on point. Transformed into y beast during Everyday. Greaseball, but who is surprised by that. Loves fan so much. Definitely enjoys being on stage. I remember his loud laugh during the interviews vividly.

Dongwoo Uh what did he take and where can I get this? All hyper, extremely excited & energetic. During every close up on him he slayed the dance extra hard. Super good dancer. Living sunshine. His bright smile is the feature I remember the most. Talked a lot & was super comfortable and fun. Singing & rapping voice both awesome.

Sunggyu Well there goes my plan not to fall for him even harder. Jet black hair, sharp jawline, voice of an angel & extremely powerful the same time. Is he even real ??? Sass master, both to the translator, the band & the members. Cutely tilting his head one second, rolling his eyes at the members the next one. Born to be on stage. Extremely relaxed & focused the same time. Every. Note. Was. On. Point. Marry me pls.

And yuuuuzzz Best. Concert. Ever. I’m still in the bestest mood, singing to Infinite songs through all my classes this morning and the stupid grin on my face simply does not go away. If you have the chance to see Infinite live – do it. Now. Always. Forever.

I have been to the concert as well and everything you mentioned is just so true. Especially Dongwoo impressed me. I knew he was cheering and usually happy but I didn't expect him to be this /energetic/. (And really what did he want to say when he said tree of life and fruit of love? Like really Yes Dongwoo we all want a child from you)
This has been so memorable and fantastic. And truthfully... they NEED to come back to Berlin. We already miss them ∞
