As a young girl, she had to grow up quickly so that when her parents were away she could take care of her younger siblings - this is why she's so mature. She knows when to not complain, when to take things calmly and when to act responsibly. Along with her maturity, Aeyoung is an intelligent girl - she loves to study and her IQ is pretty high. Sometimes her intelligence can be a bad thing and a good thing: her intelligence gives her wisdom and knowledge but there is also the fact that it can give her the cleverest and wittiest things to say - especially if you get her angry. Normally her friends would ask for loop holes in the rules and of course she can't say no to a friend. With those traits, she's also generous and polite - she smiles like an angel and that's why she's called one. She always speeks formally and bows politely and gives and gives and gives. There is only one person (probably a clique of people) in the whole world that she shows only her negative traits to. Aeyoung also hates to lie, she grew up knowing that lies were bad and that nobody should ever lie in their life. Background— Aeyoung was born in April 6th, 1998 - the same day as her childhood friend. When she was younger, her parents would use to tell her all kinds of stories about how they both met and she adored them. The First Dance was what they called it. She loved it so much that she kept on recalling it where ever she went, her love for it made her want to write about it and write even more stories that were similar. She was a lonely child for some time so she also found comfort in writing and wished to be a writer, words would come naturally to her and inspirations were literally everywhere. She was a poor girl, but not too poor - maybe middle classed, but she was definitely not rich. Both of her parents worked and that was the time she had to mature up and grow quickly because she had three younger siblings she had to take care of.

At that time she had a friend who'd help her, they literally were very close. He'd come over and do her hair as well as her siblings hair as well, but something became between them and while she doesn't want to talk to him, he goes all out trying to talk to her (see love int. section for more). He was quite literally her only friend at the time. Living where she was, at a younger age her parents couldn't afford to actually send her to a primary school so she tutored herself with the help of an outsider (her childhood friend), it wasn't until the final year of primary school was she able to actually attend school. When she was finishing middle school, her parents thought that it'd be the best idea to move, they've finally earned enough money to move somewhere nice and get a better opportunity at a good school which was Mansae High. She was glad to hear that she was moving, she was going to get away from him, yes her childhood friend. Their relationship will be explained in the love section.

In Mansae High, she gained a reputation - she was the responsible, mature girl that everyone loves, except the fact that most people hate her for it and her negative traits make it worse. However she started anew, she didn't seem like she came from a poor family, she only looked old fashioned and traditional. She really loved the school, it was amzing and wonderful and everything she thought that every school would be like. But that slowly sunk when she found out that he also attended. The same time she moved, he did too - it was like he was following her. Soon he became popular among both the younger and older students, Aeyoung just left him and didn't want anything to do with him anymore. When the news came out about Mansae High closing down, Aeyoung was devestated so she and her best friend, The Founder, decided to create Sixteen, well The Founder decided but Aeyoung agreed to join and become like a co-leader-ish since she kind of also founded Sixteen. Then they spent the rest of their time recruiting members and thus begun Sixteen.

Mingyu is the type of guy who just can’t say no, he cares too much about everyone to just leave them hanging. Honestly, this boy has a personality way different than his looks because his looks can be deceiving. While he looks like this cool guy on the outside, his personality tells a different story. There are times when he can become childish and careless at the weirdest things then his personality will switch at school – he becomes this cool and overly confident guy because girls apparently love it, but that’s not the entire reason why, he wants Aeyoung’s attention but knows he’ll never get it. Along with his childish attitude, this boy is outgoing and carefree as well as friendly. He jumps a lot when excited and smiles more than you know. A short explanation of Kim Mingyu would be that outside of school he’s this childish kid, inside of school he’s like one of those popular cool kids.

First Meeting—

The First Dance

Remember how Aeyoung’s mother used to tell stories to her about how she and her father met? The same thing happened to Aeyoung and Mingyu. Kiyoung’s and Aehwa’s story started when they were younger, Aeyoung and Mingyu’s did too (about 7-9 years old, you can decide if you want). While her parents met inside a ball and danced under the moonlight, Aeyoung and Mingyu met outside a ball and danced in the rain. At the time, Aeyoung had really long hair and Mingyu was kind of drawn by it – he loved to do others hair and found hers enchanting. Her parents were away trying to earn money so she went for a walk, being careful of strangers (If you’re wondering about her younger siblings, Aeyoung left them in care with a close friend who lived not so far… she kind of lied to them a bit). She stumbled upon a ballroom where people were dancing and before she knew it, it started to rain but she didn’t care, she just recalled the story her mother told her and smiled. Mingyu saw this and went up to her. He called out, “What are you doing in the rain?” but she ignored, he asked again but a bit louder. Then she yelled back with, “Why? Am I not allowed to?!” at the time she just wanted to watch the people dance but got irritated when someone interrupted her. He was a bit taken back by her yell but walked closer to her anyways. He soon found out what she was staring at: people dancing in elegant dresses.

“You like to dance?” he asked.

“I can’t dance nor do I know how to.”

He looked at her for a second then scratched his head. Turning his body to face hers, he grabbed her hand and positioned them in a waltz.

“What are you—?”

“Teaching you how to dance and in return I hope that one day I get to make that hair of yours prettier than can be.”

The Wanted Dance

Ever since their first meeting, the two have been best friends… that is, until something happened between the two of them. He lied to her, he lied about everything. When they were younger he told her stories about his family, about his condition (he lied about having a sickness), about everything and he knew how much she hated liars but he lied anyways. He honestly didn’t mean to lie to her, he had reasons behind them but couldn’t tell her (if you like I can tell you his reasons or you can decide on them yourself – this could also apply for what he lied about), after that she stopped talking to him and wanted nothing to do with him, she even wanted her siblings to stay away from him but he didn’t obey and neither did they, he just stayed there and kept on bugging her to forgive him. She never did. Then she moved to Seoul, but Mingyu was in love with her (but didn’t know it at that time, he thought that he just wanted her close to him at all time because she was his dearest friend) and so he asked to transfer there, but the unexpected happened: he became popular, thus ruining his chances once more.

At Mansae High, Mingyu tries to be as nice as possible to her. He tries to start up conversations, tries to sit with her at lunch, tries to become partnered up with her in projects and tries to actually get along with her like they use to. But, obviously, they never worked. The thing he really wanted to do was dance with her, that one last time, he wanted to dance with her. But it wasn’t just that – it was her hair. Everyone knows how much Mingyu loves to style people’s hair and they all know how much it means to him. (This sounds creepy but…) He wants to do her hair, make it look pretty; make it stand out, just like the old times. She’s always cold to him; the mature and angel-like girl would always be cold to him – an unordinary sight for the people who watch their interactions in Mansae. She hates players and believes he’s become one, adding onto the list of things she hates in a guy – yes, liars are included.

Chaeri loves herself. She's very confident in her looks, her body and her self in general. However the fault in this is that she's just way too full of herself. This girl is also very posessive so she can get jealous very, very easily - in her eyes, any girl that talks to the guy she likes is practically dead to her. However she's actually a very cheerful and ougoing person when you get to know her personally, which is why she is so popular.

First Meeting— Aeyoung and Chaeri met at their first day of high school, Chaeri had declared Aeyoung as her rival for two reasons: 1. their ranks, Chaeri was a surprisingly smart girl and become jaelous when she found out Aeyoung was smarter than her; 2. Chaeri had already developed this love at first sight thing with Mingyu so when she saw him trailing after Aeyoung, she just had to make her, her love rival. Chaeri literally went up Aeyoung and yelled, "FROM THIS DAY ON, WE ARE RIVALS!" then ran off. It was actually really weird and awkward because Aeyoung had no idea who the fik she was, her reply to this whole entire thing was, "... should -- should I at least know your name first...?"

Interactions— Chaeri is the head of Mingyu's fanclub, yup fanclub. So every time she encounters Aeyoung, she gives her death glares and be like, "I challenge you to ... [enter the challenge]" and of course Aeyoung would kindly reject her offer. However with Mingyu, she sticks to him like glue. Aeyoung thinks of Chaeri as a nice girl who's just been influenced by the attention around her, she even believes that Chaeri would be a good match for Mingyu. He on the other hand hates the idea to a 100, literally, he thinks she's annoying. He tries his best to stay as far away from her as possible. Aeyoung laughs at this because finally, she loves to see him getting karma for what he has done.
